VotD: The Best 10 Minutes Of Your Life

By: chris | March 17th, 2008

“We knew that in Rome most of the people support the yellow-reds; but we believed also the light-blue had a lot of sympathy. We have to admit we were wrong: nine of ten of the immense audience that was in the Rondinella Stadium (the SS Lazio stadium) waved yellow-red flags, supporting their idols! We can rightly say that Lazio played… an away game.”

December 9th, 1929. The day after the first derby.

I posted this before the last derby, but it’s more than worthy of another look – and especially worthy of a look for any newbies.

And we wait…

This is certainly not the time to be cocky. It doesn’t matter that they have basically half the points we have (he he he…), on Wednesday it will still feel like a Champions League final, because it’s the way a Derby always feels (other than those 12 or so years when they were in Serie B where they belong). This game can make me nervous like no other game, not even the World Cup final…

This will be a tough game but luckily if you get through this there is empoli on sunday, hopefully you won’t meet the same fate as earlier in the season.

The danger is the three pronged attack they now pose with Bianchi, Rocchi playing off of him and Pandev in a receded number 10 role. it will be tough because lazio also are starting to hit a late season form, their tie with Udinese was pretty telling.

Great video, I could watch Biancoceleste stand around with their arms up, while the ball lays in the back of the net and our boys are hopping the guard rail, all day. Love that scene, each Nazio player looking at the other yelling for more coverage, fruitlessly, because not one Lazy-o fuck can cover any giallorossi. scoreline 9-0 DP and OMR will even get tallies.

I love it when Monty flys after he scores, and Totti follows him!

Ben is right this will not be an easy match. The pressure is squarely on Roma’s shoulders.

We need to play a clinical game, keep focused and keep the pressure though out the game. I dont want us to score two and concede two … although that 3-2 earlier in this season was an exciting game and a great result. 5-1 would be dreamy and as this is the derby anything is possible

    So true Gabs.
We can beat Man U, and I think we will.

I would like a 3-0. Aqui, De Rossi, and Totti with a t shirt under his kit. Saying “Scudetto e vittoria contro piccolo squdra”

Really I thought the most fashionable team was Bologna…well I’m assuming we lost points with our poor display against Piacenza, what sadness.

It would be great for Aquilani to score, he needs it for his confidence, as the goal against Parma wasn’t quite enough for him. I’m sure he’ll start on wednesday, that’s why he was resting most of the game against Milan. And Totti needs to score on a bicycle kick from the corner of the box. Then De Rossi needs to put one in from the distance, he’s long overdue for one of those.

As far as a scoreline I think realistic good result would be either 1-0 or 2-1, the real key is not to allow them to score more than one at home then take the game to them in manchester just like madrid. don’t see why it’s not possible to bring the game to manchester when you brought it to the spanish capitol.

wow, montella was a merda-killer. i love watching the 5-1 derby win, it never gets old to see a bunch of laziale standing around wondering where it went wrong. totti’s chip in that game was absolutely brilliant as well. vi ho ancora purgato!

    FORZA ROMA!
    ODIO LAZIO-MERDA!

    other great moments:

totti’s incredible run before montella’s goal in the 5-1 drubbing

mancini’s great flick off that cross from cassano (i think it was cassano)

aquilani’s celebration after finishing off merda

the looks on merda’s faces as they realize they’ve lost again
