Maro: quit talking smack and express your opinons. After all, they are all our opinions my man. But I’d like to hear your assessment of the game and your best player(s) for the game. Please tell and don’t beat around the bush.

Pauly, I’m not sure I have the heart for it. It’s just inconceivable to me that anyone who watched the game yesterday and has a little interest in football could fail to note that the reason we could get away with playing Baptista, Vucinic, and Totti all together was the extraordinary amount of work put in by the other three midfielders behind them. Or, similarly, that there’s a fundamental difference between attacking space ‘in profondita” and picking the ball up in front of the opposition’s back four.

    I love that formation Asem.

if we can somehow grab Dossena in the winter, and insert him where Max is, I will feel really good about our 2nd half.

Maro, imo Bestia HELPED the other 3 midfielders.

Insert Aqui then we could have defensive cover problems.
But Brighi, De Rossi and the CB’s played as they should have in the defensive third.

Without Simo, we won’t have the defensive Winger, but with Menez e Aqui, we will have loaded offense.

And Lecce has let goals in before.

In which case, Daniele, no doubt it makes sense to play him up top in front of Totti and Vucinic.

Maro, I don’t think any one here is critiqued or discounted the work of the Midfielders, particularly Brighi and DDR, who busted his ass defensively.

An addition Maro, I’s like to get your thoughts on how you would, if you could, fit Pizza into a formation with Baptista in it at the same time. Would that be possible for you, and how?

Im on the same boat as you, I think Pizza is a pivotal part of the team, so give me some thoughts

I thought De Rossi was mediocre to the extreme yesterday.

I’m not really asking you about him, Pauly. I’m shaking my head in disbelief at the general lack of any real sense of what he contributed yesterday. It’s remarkable.

I’m not sure there is an obvious solution to get the Pizza and Baptista on the pitch at the same time. I imagine Spags had originally had his eye on the 4-2-3-1 with Pizza in his normal position and Baptista alongside Taddei and Vucinic, say, behind Totti, but I’m not sure he’s going to want to try that again too swiftly. He might try Pizza instead of Vucinic, for instance, against Lecce, with Baptista a little further forward.

hows this with the formationa….. we keep it, we don’t change one thing and see how it pans out, it couldn’t hurt.As for De Rossi, he was certainly mediocre on offense, but superb on defense.

    Tarek,
In the North End is Caffe dello Sport. They show all Serie A matches live. But be warned, the North End is full of Sicilians so they might change the channel for a Palermo match! Happened when I was there, pretty good gafe as well.
