re the Fisher take over (if it happens at all) they have shares in Celtic so unless they sell those we wont be able to enter the CL

I am positive about Mirko and Lecce seem to be very positive as well. I think it is just the Gazzetta stirring poo again.

Is he indeed also owner of celtic? Haven’t read that. Glad to raed he sees more possibilities for Roma to grow ie marketing and merchandise. Also he wants to build a new stadium.. I’m all for it if he let Rosella and co handle all things.

By the way, has everyone heard about Totti wanting to train with A.C. Milan’s coach for the very latter part of his career? Thought I’d mention that

The darkest day in the history of Roma if this club is ever put in the hands of an American.

It can also say that he wants Ancelotti to train Roma.

What I’m suprised by is that he sees many opportunities to make the brand Roma bigger in the world. As we all know how long are we waiting for an official Roma site in English? Still didn’t happen. This won’t help them in the long run if they don’t update that site in other languages. Same goes for the merchandise, only selectfull shirts be available all over the world. Who wouldn’t want to rock that scarf Totti and co is wearing during the matches? Or that cool bathrobe Mexes was seen in… I mean a takeover (whether it’s an Italian or American) would help Roma in the long run and makes them more profitable. Just keep the front office team let them do their work with players etc and let whoever takes over sign the cheques.

it can also be just a diplomatic answer as he cannot say that he doesnt want to work with any other trainer than Spaletti. I am sure if he is asked if he wanted to play for e.g Mourinho, Benitez or Lippi he would have said the same thing, just like any other players.

cazzano’s drnbw . . . i’m american, technically, and i think it would be a pretty bright day if someone handed me ownership of roma. i’d do a damn good job. the trophy cabinet would be full.

anyone want to take up a collection and make a competing bid for the club?

    FORZA ROMA!

    Fuck.

We must get him back, no questions.

Why can’t we just work something out with lecce?

I think the Vucinic transfer is going to be smooth, that is in everyone’s interest and I think it is just blown out of proportion.

Anyway this is off topic and not Roma related but hilarious!

I’m all for new (rich) owners as long as they bring a genuine commitment and a healthy desire to win… but I’m not Italian, so perhaps I can’t see the nationalistic side of it. Looking at all the supposed (rumoured) evaluations of player worth for the upcoming transfer season has me a little worried - I’m not sure if Roma can compete, even with the eventual treble looming ;) In addition to the top 4 English clubs who will be earning some spending money this year, there’s Man City looking likely to splurge on some talent to crack the top four. Plus the re-vamping of Milan and the continuing build of Juve… and the possible accession of Mourinho to Inter (and the player’s he’d want to purchase). And then, of course, Madrid will buy to win the CL and Barca will buy to win La Liga! Seller’s market this year and I’m sure our players are looking mighty tempting to the rich guys.

Plus, with the eventual ascendency of all our “youthful” talent (DDR, aqui, Vuci, etc), combined with the results they’ve been getting, contract demands might just eat up the bulk of our interest… and deservedly so.

And have to admit, as stated above, that Roma’s merchandising potential is massive right now and completely unexploited. I’m sure Sensi loves the club, but it would be a nice present from the team to bail him out of his 370 mil debt!

I believe a new owner (lotza money) is inevitable for our society because:
    -large fan base
-a big and very attractive city and stadium
-a not too shabby team and coach at the current moment
    -a well organised youth development

Gabriela, that Jose piece is just comedy!

Still one of my fondest Stadio Olimpico memories was a Roma-Milan years ago, when Di Canio was playing for Milan, and every time he would get anywhere near the ball the whole stadium would erupt in a deafening chant of “Pezzo di merda, Di Canio pezzo di merda”…for the whole fricking game, untill he got subbed in the 2nd half… Priceless!…

As for the alleged American offer, I don’t know if this would be the best offer, but Roma could use more of an international outlook, to better use its international following (I mean, look at this blog, we outnumber fans on other teams blogs by as much as 100 to 1…). I’m sick and tired that every time I get a Eurosport soccer catalogue at home Real Madrid players are on the cover, even though for the last 4 years they didn’t even make it past the round of 16 in the CL, while Roma has made it to the quartefinals for two straight years… They need a better merchandising strategy, and this guy already owns the Oakland A’s (MLB) and the S.Jose Earthquakes (MLS), and he would be helped by an expert in dealing with tv sports rights; it doesn’t look like a straight speculative operation, but somebody that might actually know something about running sport teams. Also, the 250mil they are offering would go a long way in reducing the 370mil debt the Sensi family accumulated in trying to rebuild Roma as a financially sound team and company. They have actually said that they would offer the job of president to Franco Sensi, so it seems they understand the importance of the Sensi family in the eyes of Romans and Romanisti. Last but not least, the guy’s family owns The Gap and Banana Republic, so they know a thing or two about running clothing stores… Hellooooo, Romastores in every major mall in the US!

If it does go to the envelopes, do you really think Lecce can outbid Roma? How much money do they have in B? Even if Real Madrid or Man Utd offered them the cash, Vucinic doesn’t want to go there. Unless we go really cheap, we’ll keep Vucinic. Another 7 million should do it.

This derby is #130, so far 43 Roma wins, 54 draws, 32 losses. This is for Serie A only, does not include Coppa Italia or other games. Including coppa and friendlies the total is 57 Roma wins, 60 draws and 43 losses.

Gabriel, it’s not meant to offend nationals or Americans.

Ecco, amico, I would say the same if it was French or Jamaican.

Here is who should own Roma:
