You’re jinxing him. He’s been announced for the South Africa friendly.

I wanted him to play today and rest Wednesday. I also wanted the Azzurri to field the best XI. He’s in that.

You know exactly what’s going to happen now. He’ll play at least 75 against SA and be gassed for the Napoli/Sporting games.

and if Mancini leaves, and Foggia’s pricetag is under 15m, I’d seriously consider him.

Chris you are absolutely right in regards to Pirlo, definitely the only creative player in midfield!! It’s also great to see Luca Toni back in the line up but it was a pretty crappy performance over all. I’m just glad Perrotta and De Rossi didn’nt take part in that poor display and missed out on any potential injuries and fatigue. In regards to signing Di Natale for Mancini…that would be an absolute disgrace for Roma to get rid of one of their younger talents for a middle adged Di Natale!! I’m sure Spalletti has a good opinion of him from his days at Udinese but i’d take Mancini over Di Natale in a heart beat even if he causes problems off field from time to time. The management of Roma have to get it through their thick skulls that if Roma is ever going to be a destination for world class players to come to then they have to keep hold of talent like Mancini instesd of shipping them out!! Just my opinion.Forza Roma

Yeah. Ambro isn’t really creative but him and Gattuso will lock down the middle and let Pirlo do his thing. Which is fine for a team like Georgia b/c his errors aren’t so glaring. RDD is pretty much always going to go for the safe play rather than the one that will produce great attacking one touch football. Georgia has like -4 points thru qualifying so far, tonight woulda been perfect to start Montolivo and watch him and Pirlo start pulling rabbits out of hats. I’m pretty sure Donadoni doesn’t have a brain, it’s just an overly large bowl of Rice Krispies. He was a good player, but you can just tell he’s not cut out for the job.

4-3-1-2 with Miccoli would be awesome but it’s just a dream. I’m pretty sure Donadoni would rather field Ringhio at trequartista than give Miccoli a call up.

I’m in full agreement on Montolivo. I’m almost ready to say he should’ve started over both Ambro and DDR. Maybe not DDR. Ambro has been good defensively, but this is Georgia and he should be. His nly offensive capabilities are making runs which end up in a dump off pass and short, weak passes which get nowhere – if they’re accurate, which isn’t usually the case.

Miccoli behind a two striker system in a 4-3-1-2 could work really well.

Haha. I wouldn’t mind seeing Zaccardo. He’s definitely better going forward than Oddo is. Another Palermo man, Miccoli could definitely be that link behind Toni. There’s a ton of other guys too. It’s not like Italy is short on talent at CAM/supporting striker. If Francesco comes back, with the kind of form he’s on at striker, I see no other option but to play Toni and Totti together. GET MONTOLIVO ON!
