Just remember that the teams with the bucks end up pretty much owning the scudetto and the CL money. There’ s no need to fret currently as a Trick , I mean Frick will bounce out from his Mercedes or his Swiss law clinic :-) and save us from ourselves.
    Soros indeed…

As much as I want more Italians in the Roma side, I really don’t want Toni…not sure why, but I have never had much confidence in him.

    2008-2009: 18 goals in 35 games.
    2007-2008: 32 goals in 40 games.
    2006-2007: 16 goals in 27 games.
    2005-2006: 31 goals in 36 games.

Why in the world would you not want Luca Toni at your club?

Luca Toni scores bag loads of goals. Even in a bad season he gets over 15. He can still contribute to Roma and with Totti and Vucinic he could be brilliant

alessio the last two seasons were in Bayern where he was backed by a stellar midfield that even on their own could score themselves without Toni. Second, how many penalties were there in that quantum of goals? Also mere tap ins? Any videos to prove detractors wrong? Don’t just look at him stats wise.

Pretty sure that tap-ins are worth the same as a 30 yard screamer. Besides he is a striker, its his job to mop that crap up. Following your logic, Inzaghi should have never played at two of the biggest clubs in Italy and should certainly not have those 2 wonder CL medals. Tap-ins are goals too. Besides I would take 20 tap-ins over 10 30 yard curlers.

1st of all luca toni is very poor striker with no ideas in scoring and no talent ,,, look at all his goals the last 4 seasons , except his wonderful one when he was in fiorentina , the proof is : look back at euro 2008 + he is very expensive for his abilities and age
wake up he can’t just pass or dribble !!!!!!

Thats why I said “I’m not sure why” I don’t want him. I know he scores a ton of goals for club teams…just seems they are all boring BS Inzaghi type goals. I know they count the same as a 30 yard screamer, but that doesn’t make it any more enjoyable to watch.
I would much rather get behind somone with some creativity like Rossi or Acquafresca….actually I’m fine with Baptista, Vucigol and Menez playing in front of Totti.

Just a simple question, where are we gonna put him in Spal 4-2-3-1 system? The lone striker role will always be Totti’s role or Vuci when Totti’s not playing of course.

    no Toni , no way.

his sucess really has been due mostly to solid midfield service … and who thinks Fiore had a mediocre midfield when he was scoring? come on, their midfield is responsible for the Gila-Mutu success as well.

Toni has no touch. the only thing he is good at is beating the offside trap and positioning – he has an ability to know where to be at the right time. he is more of a poacher who does not contribute in other ways to the effectivity of the team as a whole. he does not run, he does not win balls, he does not contribute defensively, he cannot pass.

forget about him. there are so many other better candidates.

one can only wonder at the cost to bring Toni… Trez, who is also much of a poacher, but who can lob some nice balls into the box, would be a much better fit for Roma. plus he has pace and much better first touch reflexes.

Toni’s a real poacher like Inzaghi, and damn right those tap inns are goals too! And his statistics don’t lie,he’s been one of italy’s best attackers in recent years.
Football is not about always beauty points guys, even tough Barca showed it this year.
And I dare to say that our midfield (KA,DDR,Menez,Perrotta,Pizarro,Brighi…) is better as Fiorentina/Palermo and as good as Bayerns one.

But I’d still go for Trez: more pace, more experience, faster…and probably more realistic

that might just be the worst entrance to anything ever.
i expected him to come in on a tricycle or something.
roma should probably make a move for chris llewellyn, before barca snap him up.
