VotD: The New Vice-Doni.

Or so his agent seems to think. That’s what you get for a clean sheet, Artur: a one way ticket outta town.

So when did Frederic Weis switch sports and change his name? (Well, the changed name part was always inevitable.)

We are clawing for 4TH place so let’s allow the Juventini to
bitch about being 6 pts. behind instead of a possible 4.

jed that’s strange, because on FSW, the commentators said it was definitely offside. They mentioned it again when they showed the replay and said it would definitely be a talking point.

Someone was given a yellow card after the goal — I assumed it was Maicon.

Oh yeah, and of course I meant a familiar *sight* from last year. ;-)

The referees in Italy are clearly intimidated by the Nerazzurri, and refuse to be objective with them.

This must be the thirtyith match in the past four years that was gifted to them in the last ten minutes in last four years by shitty referreing.

Something has to be done to initiate a video review on offside and goal line decisions.

The thing that must be really frustrating for other teams (as it is for the fans) is the refs not just giving Inter calls when they are the best team on the day. They rescue them when the other team look capable of taking some points.

    Absolutely!!!

Siena were easily the better team tonight!!

It was Siena vs. Maicon. The only Inter player who came out to play.

ok..stay with me here, since i am going to make a round-about case for what could be done to make the game as fair as possible (not feasible but no harm in speculating)..not that anyone who matters cares.

just like the Securities Exchanges in countries record insider trading etc to identify suspicious patterns in trading that might be illegal trading- maybe in sports, a formal organization should keep records of refs and the results of games where an error cost a team. then every season, reflect on any “suspicious” patterns that heavily favor some teams, especially in some situations (i.e, potential game changers). surely, it cannot be conincidence if the patterns are clearly non-random.. not that in every case the refs have been bribed, it could be biases, intimidation anything. these erroes can sometimes be the difference b/w getting relegated and not.. meaning serious financial consequences to some clubs..

Easier to use video for offsides that lead to goals and phantom goals right then and there.

Absolutely, there has to some kind of formal review process because the stakes are way to high.

The only way to remove some of the pressure on ref’s is to introduce goal line and video review technologies, and there time has come.

Bad referee decisions cost us the Scudetto last season

avala, offside calls are frequent contenders for errors, but if they really want to make the game as fair as possible- there are other important game-changers..unfair pks, unfair red cards, offside calls (either way). at the least, pks and offside calls need to be called better somehow.

lupa, on fsc during the game was the only time they said that he was offside, when the highlights came on the guy (different guy then the one during the game) didn’t even mention the offside. All they said was that “maicon the hero for inter from the pass off maxwell” or something like that.

jed, in defense of FSC- i think they dont actually watch the whole game carefully before commenting, than them intentionally ignoring a fake goal. the serie tv announcers are usually more factual in what they say.

mimo, exactly but if we are to avoid having spal and co.
throw red hankies on the field for challenges, like in the Neanderthal Football League, then the techno will have taken over.I think bad yellows and reds should be reviewed and remedied within the league after the games are played. What about an automatic review of any pk called, or perhaps another official facing play from behind the end line ?

i honestly do not see why having an additional ref/linesman (if it is proven to help) is bad for the game. some people seem vehemently opposed. i am for technology since the right results are more imp than anything, but i can understand a bigger opposition to this compared to additional refs.

and this is what i have to say to people who beleive in the eutopian philosophy of “it all evens out”.. well, will Parma be satisfied with “evening out” in Serie B, assuming they got relegated by 2-3 points last season?

Whoever said the whole mark my words shit about Roma not winning, can kiss my ass. I pull for Catania, but I truley do not see anything stopping the Roma train right now, They just got their CL pick, they know they have to keep playing top knotch ball to be Arsenal and they have to keep winning all of their Seria A games. MARK MY WORDS….I’m seeing Roma crush Catania by at least 2 goals.

Hey everyone on the Roma blog! I am regular reader of this blog but I do not often post many comments. I am really inclined to bring these questions up:

I see here there’s a lot of talk on the need to reinforce the GK position for an understudy for Doni. How long is Doni out for and what is the extent of his injury?

Also, it seems to me that the area where we really need solid back up is the D-line. Especially with Juan being very injury prone and Mexes’ hot temperament at times and of course Loria being Loria!. Are there any rumors on defensive players that we are interested to bring in during the winter transfer period?
