VotD: The Friendly Highlights.

By: chris | July 7th, 2009

If only defending could be this lax all season.

In other news, Tonetto, Perrotta & Menez are already injured – Simone has even been sent back to Rome. Would somebody please thump Spalletti over the head?

I am all for that. I assume we pay Taddei a good bit.

I am glad we signed Aquilani to new contract. I know he has to feel the pressure of not having being available to the team thus he is going to give his best. Also it shows that Roma is loyal, which I think it is. So the younger players have to see this and feel that as long as they do there best the team will keep them and not pawn them off like so many other teams seem to do. I know it comes down to money and whether or not Roma can afford to keep players but the reality is that I see Roma as a team that players can make a career out of being at. While some players may be money focused, Roma seems to be able to find those that want to play for a team for a long time. I credit that to the fans ans the management.

The ownership has to have the money to keep the player though. As far as I know, nobody here knows Rosella so I don’t how people could think she is a Bitch. I think she has done the best she could and it is time to move on for the best of the team. And no that does not mean I am for that sketchy dude.

Dhaw, what exactly is your deal with defending the Sensis? You came off to me as blind defender of all things Roman, but here you are, being logical with Mexes and Aquilani. What up?

Calling her a bitch is going too far. Personal attacks are dumb. I believe she is incompetent and a hindrance. I would love for her to show me otherwise. If she can’t…well, they have already said it. Vattene.

Again it was not Rosella who screwed up last season.
It was Spalletti & Prade & the players who messed up. She did break the salary cap , she did spend the money and this season she was there to quickly renew the contracts.

    Sneakers,

I was logical with defending the Sensi’s as well and I will anyday defend them over those shady swiss/german/dubai buyers who have done nothing but talk big.

This whole talk of buying big players and having a dream project for Roma was utter bull shit from them and if you look at it closely it was done to just pressurize the media , the banks and the fans to send the sensi’s packing.

They failed in that atempt so they decided to call the bluff with the whole Irti issue… where the lawyer comes out and talks shit and Fioranelli comes and talks all goodie stuff to win the hearts.

Damn its not rosella who is making this a soap opera , it is fioranelli’s group who is turning this into a soap opera and if rosella is incompetent then Fiornelli just seems to be worse than Rosella eh

I don’t see how Irti’s comments were anything but a pissed off lawyer venting. There really is no perceived benefit to having one of your own come out and bash Roma’s most prestigious players. He really didn’t need to win anyone over in the first place. Everyone was steadfast in their perception, be it for or against his cause.

I don’t see how Fioranelli pressing the issue and searching in every nook and cranny shows how he is incompetent. His proactivity and persistence made him an even more attractive option, particularly in comparison to Rosella and Team Roma suits’ perpetual idleness.

Apparently Roma needs to start playing video games to train. That way only theri thumbs would get hurt.

    Dhaw and CMP,

thanks for the word on Greco … he looks solid.

and if we loose Brighi and keep Pizarro, i will become a Napoli fan. fuck Sensi if she lets that happen. he was the most consistent player we had last year.

I’m not going to even think about Brighi leaving because it is just to dumb to think about happening.
What I am thinking about it the fact that our number one keeper, Doni, is hurt. Arthur I thought did a good job for the most part coming on for Doni, but are we really going to be counting on our number one coming back from injury? I would not have a problem if I thought he was great, but I have my doubts about him.
If we keep all of our attacking talent and our midfield intact I think that besides defenders we need a good goalie rather than a striker. I would love a new body at every position but if there were only two position that we can fill, it would be a good goalie as a back up, who can start, and a good defender.

On the flip side I know it was our poor defensive play and not Doni to blame. He just makes me nervous. For next season I guess he will be fine if he is healthy. I wish Curci came back.

We don’t have the money to fix problems when they arise. GK, post-up forward, 2 CBs, a center mid to ease the pressure on De Rossi (could be cured by a healthy aquilani). None of these needs can be filled when you have to sell to buy.

Why aren’t we at least slick enough to get loans with options to buy with players? If we can’t afford a guy like Rosina outright, why not do one of those deals? We are doing it with Jonas Gutierrez? GAG! There are so many options and we have explored a grand total of zero of them.

Hell, Prade didn’t even know the market was open until a few days ago according to his statement.

We have a budget of 10 million, so we can afford Rosina but would you really like to spend half the budget on a player who would probably make Ménez get much littler time to play than he deserve? It would be a waste to buy Rosina when we got a younger and better player than him who can play in more positions in the squad.

I say buy Lugano, keep Andreolli (or buy another good CB or fullback) and then spend all the rest on a good striker.

I agree with Chris about the fact that Matteo’s agent is a walking mouth that never shuts-up. Agent’s are all the same, “my client rocked-it last year so he deserves more money…” I believe he does, but I imagine that we are just waiting for any possible take-over to occur before we see how much $$ they can spend… Then maybe they will show Matteo that they value him and renegotiate.

Just my idea of what’s happening. I would be molto facile if he stay’s

Chris, I’m not sure if it’s Spalletti that’s letting our guys get hurt already. Could be the medical staff… A little suspect perhaps? Juan thought they could’ve done better when he was hurt, and it did take a il capitano did get a lot of little nicks until he fully recovered (if he has fully recovered).

I mean we had a lot of injury problems last year… hmmm, in domanda???
