VotD: Still Legend
By: chris | April 9th, 2008He could miss a thousand pks, and it would never mean a thing. Every team would be lucky to have a Daniele De Rossi - the future is mighty bright. Grazie, Daniele.

DDR always puts the penalties to the upper left hand corner. BTW that was not a penalty on Mancini in my opinion

Anyone has clip of the end of the match where roma fans chanted DDR’s name?
It wasn’t shown here in Australia.Posted from

From what I saw of the game (last 25 minutes… in between notetaking for class) DDR came way damn closer to a goal than anyone else did. I was kinda frustrated with Mancini and others that seemed like they were being worthless but again I don’t have much to judge him on.

Not to knock Roma, but was that really the best Italy and Serie A had to offer?
Thanks Juve again, for fucking our league…Posted from

the penalty calls in the UCL have been iffy lately, but I think the Mancini call today was valid. When they zoomed in, Brown did take out Mancini’s foot before the ball. It was not a 100% sureshot call, but was more right than wrong. Arsenal games v. Lvpool had dreadful calls and non-calls. Like the espn guyz said it wud never have been given in a league match at OT– but it shud if the referees r not wimps.

and yes, DDR does seem to prefer a blast into top left. I wonder if he wants to work on some variations.

Spal shouldn’t have had DDR take it, he is too emotionally connected. I love Daniele for his passion and dedication to the team but in this instance it got the best of his nerves. A disconnected mancini would have been better.
It rewally looked like he got the ball first, not a penalty.
I was in Brit’s pub in Minneapolis. There were 5 italian guys, me, and 40+ Man U fans. The place went nuts at that call.

btw anyone have any Soros/buyout news? Wasnt someone supposed to make a bid tonight for the club?

If you look at the first video Cazzano posted the link for, it doesn’t look like Brown even got the ball..

Clear penalty to me, and even so, they robbed Mancini at Old Trafford this year far worse if you remember.
Meanwhile, what a crucial weekend in the championship. Drooling to paste Fruili yellow and red.

No more big teams for the rest of the year…unless Inter is in the Coppa finale… ; )

@SPqR: Inter aren’t big team

KJ, go to hell. Do all of your teams really need Juve to make them stronger? I think in general yes.
But Roma has been stronger in Juve’s absense. Inter, Milan, and yes KJ, your beloved Palermo have no excuse in the miserable failures that have been your European campaigns. Can’t blame this on us, god knows everything else is.

Before DDR missed the penalty, all my attention was on Doni.
Oh my, he made save after save after save. Brilliant performance to cover up his mistake for the 2nd goal at Olimpico. He’s my MOTM of the first half.Posted from
Australia

Doni played like Buffon’s nephew, this is true. I was simply awestruck by Juan, who is like Michael Jordan and Aldair and Scirea built into one man. I know Leverkusen was skint, but how is he not worth 25 million or more?
If Pepe is worth 30 million, Juan is double that easy.
Buy of the MILLENIUM. Had Chivu been there tonight we’d have lost 14-0.

@Cazzano’s Diaper: Yeah! I was also stunned by how great Juan is. I knew he’s that good, but still..
Cassetti was also playing a good game before being knocked by Wes Brown. He chased every ball.Posted from

thank you for missing the PK? what sad ass low expectation club is this

Jungar, no one is thanking him, but after all he’s done for this team, how can we be mad at him? It would be a different story if it was someone like Mancini who missed the PK.
