VotD: Spalletti Loves Him Some Toto.

By: chris | December 2nd, 2008

This kid is being flogged about Trigoria as we speak, reportedly. His name is Eduardo Salvio and he’s nicknamed “Toto”. 18 yo Argie winger-cum-forward from Lanus called “the new Lavezzi”. (Because Lavezzi’s already soooo yesterday.) His agent is meeting with Prade and the kid can reportedly be had for €8m. All of which is a mild head scratcher. Have they learned nothing from the Menez situation? This isn’t a system which bloods in youngsters.

Now tell me Spalletti didn’t say to Prade “I want me some Toto” only for Prade to fly in this cat’s agent. Typical.

surely a romanista would rather totti get a hattrick and then de rossi scoring a 30 yard screamer that ricochets in off the bar over the line then back out and breaks jose mourinhos nose?! final score 4-0 that would be a game

Jacob, your fellow country men is pizza man, and I agree he is really creative and amazing when he is on. I hope he stays.

Crespo played for Lazio and Inter that means his soul is forever tainted and he would literally have to burned alive till he was only ash. Then and only then could he re created into another human being and play for Roma.

Aside from the ex-lazy-o, ex-interista facts, don’t forget that he now considered old and over the hill….definitely past his prime. If that’s the case, I’d rather we keep Montella. At least he’s not contaminated

    Keep him.
    The dude is solid.
Everyone seems to say he sucks, but he’s had 2 assists in the last 2 games.
    I like the guy.
Plus he gave up a lot to play for Roma.
He loves the team and would do anything for La Roma.
    No harm in keeping him.

Pizzman is an almost but not quite there. hes got skill decent passing and well hes a nice guy. Roma is not defined by this man. he was very useful when we were tryin to get back on our feet 3yrs ago but he has played his course. if we can get 10-15 sell the guy. Dont hate him but hes not what a scudetto or champions league contending team should have in their midfield. If Brighi can keep up the form he is a much better option in the midfield n will let other more creative players into the lineup that wouldnt be possible with a defensively weak Pizzman.

Forza Pizzman. we just dont need u no more

Guys like Taddei and Perrotta is why Roma has been great the last few years.
They bring two things that most players don’t have
    1) tireless work rate
    2) and pure love for the yellow and red shirt

Cucs, i agree that they have been good for roma. I still apreciatem the both. unforunately they do havetheir limitations which i think could be factors in holding Roma back from winning silverwar. I think upgrades to these two solid who are not quite championship players could be whats needed. Baptista can be a productive upgrade to perrotta, im not sayin get rid oh him but as sub and a fill in player would be better. Taddei’s similar but he can also be a solid balancing midfielder, especially when hes on form. dont mind him in the starting xi especialy if it allows for players like vucinic baptista totti and menez to get farther forward

I agree that Taddei and Perrotta have been key players for us, but with respect to Perrotta in particular, I have thought that he is a player that is going to deteriorate when his speed leaves him. Since so much of his value in the game is his off the ball running and getting into space, I think he is a player who will not age gracefully. I know there has been some discussion about him recently, and I’m not saying he’s awful, but I think his type of play relies on speed and workrate as opposed to guys who are clever at positioning (more often defenders) or wily at anticipating where to place a pass.

    So true, Lupa.
And you could see the signs of it last year, and even more of it this year, as injuries begin to pile up on his aging frame … It’s kinda sad.

Though I think Julio slots into his spot and then some.

Believe men some clubs might not pay 15 mil but will pay good money. 3mil I mean c’mon, he is pretty much a regular in our team so at least 8-9 mil.
