    Oh god.

Yay no more cup ties. Time to focus on the Serie A !

I got into a fight with a chelsea fan yesterday argueing about how Lampard is better than Totti. The result was me with a black eye. I took one for Capitano lol

  • masonio

Should have kicked at his balls.

  • iosanguinaregiallerosso

He lost a few teeth, I lost sight from my left eye. Fair trade Masonio?

  • Any comparison with Barca should stop , Jeez.

I'd be ashamed if they ever pull this shit in Rome. Even the goat-fuckers don't do this shit.

I actually liked FCB before i saw this...:D

never liked the team. i never really liked the football they play. never understood why people go ape shit for them.

  • masonio

I swear you're like the red to my yellow, considering every post I've read of yours.

  • Jordan Cozzi

    ridiculous eh

  • Arfaestnes

Call me crazy, but I'd like to see Caprari get a start this weekend.

  • Kilo15

Totti flanked by Caprari and Borini sounds good to me!  Although didnt we loan out Caprari?

  • Arfaestnes

Not yet.  We came to an agreement with Pescara last week, but LE requested that it not happen until the end of the window due to Osvaldo's injury, so it won't go through till Monday or Tuesday.

  • Loazzi

Apparently we are being linked with Mikael Ciani from Bordeaux, a 27 yr old CB who not too long ago received his first cap for Les Bleus.  I don't know much else about him other than he is big and physical.

  • Sigre

I'm going to Rome now. Just figured I'd come on here and brag before leaving. I'll chant extra loudly for you guys. Toodles~

  • masonio

Are you sure you don't want to get kicked in the balls?

    Have fun. :)

  • ASR_Martino

    Enjoy!!

  • Jacob

wow, just watched marquinho highlights and he is actually good.

Also, chiellini is a brilliant defender but he is a dirty shit. He pulls, punches, pushes, etc when the ref isnt looking and you wonder why people dislike him.

  • Loazzi

"wow, just watched marquinho highlights and he is actually good."

So am I, if you watch my highlights.  lol.  We'll see.  Lets hope for the best.

  • Giallorossi56

Ya, not sure why there is so much hate here for Chiellini. Maybe I'm a bit bias because I'm Italian and support Gli Azzurri (and he is by far the best defender Italy has), but he has always been a physical defender. He is not nearly as dirty as Matarazzi.

  • ASR_Martino

I agree, but so was Marco Materazzi... 'Nuf said. Giorgio good but still is a shit.

I definitely don't agree with Erik doing that, but I did laugh a bit..

  • Kilo15

I support the national team as well, but that doesn't mean I wont dislike him when he plays Roma.

He's just a douche.  He gets away with a lot of fouls and I remember one time in particular either last season or the season before when he slid in hard and took out Mexes in the box, missing the ball.  The penalty wasnt given and to add insult to injury he stood over Mexes like a douche screaming for him to get up.

  • ab

i enjoyed the entire exchange. i like the way chiellini goes about his business, i like that he's willing to be a dick about it if necessary, and i like that lamela kicked him in the balls and didn't just take it. game was gone at that point anyway, so i'm going to give lamela the benefit of the doubt and say that he doesn't retaliate if the match is tied or within one goal.

  • Philipp_sebastian

You really justify this based on some "kindergarden" based retaliation style ? This is idiotic and would seriously reduce our squad on regular basis (when we are behind). I agree with Kilo: even the slightest chance for comeback (and quick counter attack) was ruined by his reaction. Nobody can defend such action even if we understand where it comes from (young player, frustration, Chiellinin is dirty bastard even if Matrix is even worse).

  • Kilo15

Had he not kicked out and instead just got up and ran we would have had a 4v3 and a good chance at a goal.  There was still the possibility of a comeback as you saw Borini was given that great opportunity by Totti's backheel.  But once we were down to ten any thoughts of a comeback were over.  Regardless, Lamela shouldn't have done it and we were just outplayed.

Our style of play is very dependent on our fullbacks getting up the pitch and for being an outlet for our midfield, but Angel was just horrible and Taddei should have been playing in his place on the left.

  • It's called a professional foul, all defenders do it. Don't get the hate on Chiellini, would love to have him in our back line any day.

  • Chase

Lamela definitely deserved a red for kicking out.  That was extra-carricular.  Though, people are right in saying Girogio deserved it.  More of a professional foul for sure pulling him down to prevent the break but it was an all out suplex- falling on the ground and pulling Lamela down over him. I wonder if the linesman would have flagged for that if Erik didn't kick out, because that deserved a yellow.  Guys like Cheillini are good at those professional fouls and though I understand why they do it, I also easily understand Lamela's frustration, totally off the ball pulled down from behind.  Cheillini's act was dirty but could be deemed "professinoal" where as Lamelas was dirty and is deemed "uncalled for".  harsh but fair.

  • On the lighter side of the news,

Former President of Corinthians, Andres Sanches, is talking about how he regret taking Adriano to Corinthians. in his own words "There is no way out, It was a mistake. He was a BAD INVESTMENT"

  • ASR_Martino

We knew it then and we know it now. He is a fat-ass that has already had his day. He is too lazy to ever be the player he almost was.

  • Benattore

Does anyone else think that this transfer window has been very boring worldwide? So far, there's not a deal that stands out

  • Best day is the final day. Cant wait to see what Sabatini is thinking of getting at the defense.

  • Benattore

I just hope he gets actual defenders, because I don't really like the idea of Marquinho playing as a Full Back

  • Lucian

he's meant to be able to play all midfield positions, and LB

  • ASR_Martino

I agree. You saw in the last game how vulnerable our backs leave us on the counter. We need defenders to defend and midfielders to, well, midfield.

  • Kilo15

    Me too (x4)

  • FrankieASR

When is the official last day? ... I can never remember

  • Arfaestnes

    Feb 2nd for Italy.

  • FrankieASR

Thats what I thought, and I think EPL ends sooner... 31st or something

  • Benattore

    January 31

  • James Robert

you would think with euro 2012 coming up players on the fringe of call-ups would be trying to move around more to get playing time and what-not

  • michele97

    ..

  • Loazzi

On the vid that kilo posted, it didn't even look that bad.  Doesn't even look like he intentionally kicked him in the little Giorgios as much as he was using his leg (with some force) to get Chiellini the hell off him (much like when a player is grabbing your jersey and you forcefully swat down on his arm.

  • At times there is no difference between Materazzi & Chellini !!  Fuckin twats !

  • enzoch

yeah, and lamela is an angel.. he can foul everyone on the field, but no one should blame him..

  • Lol, whatever you say.

  • FrankieASR

Nice to see the team out to dinner.
It seems when the going gets rough... tutti a tavola.

    Even Burdisso joined.

  • kcabnip89

not sure if anybody on here plays FUT but Totti was in the Team of the Week this week!

thats 2 in a row with Kjaer last week..

  • Benattore

Yeah, already bought him for 50,000. He's gonna drop because of the pace, but I really wanted him. So far, he's been amazing, but you really need some fast players around

  • Asroma-369

Did you buy him? ps3 or xbox?

  • kcabnip89

no i cant afford him :(

    im on xbox.. you?

What Lamela did was stupid, but I can't say I feel sorry for Chiellini.  The bastard knew what he was doing tripping Lamela.  We had a 4v3 break and a good chance at a goal.

    Hook line and stinker!...

  • So apparently we've been offered Bosingwa with a bunch of other clubs as well. I think this could be a decent signing, considering we wouldn't have to pay too much for him since his contract runs out in June.
    http://www.pagineromaniste.com...

  • J2110

Bosingwa may make sense given his contract situation, but we can never take him. My family supports chelsea and ive been to see them live a few times, and Bosingwa is quick runner with the ball. However, his passing and crossing is inconsistent, he cant defend, and he goes missing at big times due to his shocking positioning. He'd be clutter on the wage bill and in the dressing room and he is basically another version of the full backs we already have, he wont improve us, just exaggurate our problems

  • ForzaTotti

I honestly don't think Bosingwa is much of an upgrade over Rosi. Between the two I'd rather have Rosi. That's just my opinion though. Not saying I wouldn't mind a new RB but if we're going to get one then he should be significantly better than what we have ie. Someone like Isla.

  • Armoracia

Meh, Bosingwa is experienced and far better than Rosi (of course, that's my opinion). Rosi shouldn't be a starter for Roma, Bosingwa was a 1st team player in Chelsea.
On the other hand, he looks like a troublesome character.

  • Sammy

The Pallotta interview is up on the Roma channel in english, if anyone is interested in watching. Kjaer seems to be beating himself up on twitter after yesterday's performance, but glad to see most responses are positive. Confidence does A LOT for your game. I think he has the capabilities, just has had tons of bad breaks. Hope he can turn it around.

  • FrankieASR

Reminds me of Mexes' patterns of good and bad

  • Mrjkenny

Blame Kjaer if you want, but the RB position has just been awful defensively this season, not much better on the left. I still think this is the upgrade we need.

The forwards also need time to gel. LE keeps mixing them up EVERY game. They need chemistry to know each others tendencies, and they just need more time on the pitch together.

  • Jonas

mixing? since Osvaldo was out, LE's tridente was always clear: Lamela/Totti/Bojan or Borini (both Totti and Lamela have started a match together for weeks now)

now with Okaka and Boriello gone, there are only 4 players for those positions with Osvaldo out, I don't see a lot of mixing possible, plus LE never used Taddei, Cici, Angel or Rosi as wide forwards yet, he keeps them in defensive positions (which is good cauz with his 4 3 3 plan, we need marauding backs), too bad Simplicio and sometimes Gago too can't really command a mid like DDR did.

I think it's clear that Gago DDR Pjanic is a starting mid with both Lamela and Totti up front and one true forward, Stek in goal, Rosi at RB (the best we have this season and he has made some progress to be fair to him), those are the absolute first names on the sheet IMO (or on FIFA lol)

  • FrankieASR

Kjaer was bad but not to blame and you are right defense needs a definite upgrade. ... then again it hasn't been anything that any Roma fan didn't know.

    Sabatini/Baldini knows this too. Right??

  • FrankieASR

Not much to say that hasn't been said. I'm not losing sleep over it. Coppa Italia is something I never gave a shit about. This season it would have been nice to win it just because of the statement it makes for this new team, but fuck it. Let Juve and Inter beat themselves up over it while Roma can focus on Serie A and qualifying for CL which is more important.

The team did not look ready or motivated from the get go. Juve did an excellent job to close space, press and dictate the game and Roma had no answer and looked stagnant, frustrated and creative-less.

IF this was a must win game for Roma, I believe Juan should have started over ketchup or Kjaer, and Perrotta should of played along side Gago. It comes down to talent and Juve is a stacked squad and Roma's class was either unavailable or off the pitch. Fullbacks did not do well at all constantly out of position.

DDR's presence was very missed. There simply is nobody that provides his abilities of building, passing, coverage and grinta. They can hopefully learn and continue to grow from this game and have a better approach next time around. Juve are beatable.

    Forza Roma!

  • Romaniandeadman

    You are right Frankie

  • Jonas

foolish from Lamela, he'll learn from it but maybe LE should put him on the bench against Bologna?

just to show things like this won't be accepted and can cost us games and points, the kid has been playing a lot lately and maybe after the Fio coppa gamen the succes and fame got a little to his head and he thought he could also demolish Juve?
Besides LE can still bring him in if the score is still 0-0 around '65-'70

Lamela better bitchslap Kjaer too at training, the boy needs his head set tight

  • ForzaTotti

I think Lamela knows what he did was wrong. Baldini apparently gave him a stearn talking too afterwards as well. He knows those kinds of actions won't be tolerated. I'd rather we let him play against Bologna, we need him.

  • Kistajk

Kjaer is having confidence issue, same as Bojan. Confidence is crucial in all players, some more than others, especially when they're young.
If they try to pay for their mistakes (Kjaer: penalty against Lazio, own goal) or prove people wrong (Bojan), it's easy falling to the trap of trying too hard and get F-ed in the head. They should let go and move on, focus only on what's ahead. Kjaer is young and I'm sure of his talent. Whether he'll develop in Roma or somewhere else is another matter.

  • Dani

I really don't get the Kjaer hating. Heinze was horrible, as were Taddei and especially JA. Simplicio didn't provide any cover and well... played horrible as well. Kjaer to me seemed the only one who played decent and motivated from the defence.
Also, it's not shameful to admit Juve are better right now. Especially when comparing player material and depth on the bench.

  • Loazzi

I don't think its that anyone "hates" Kjaer as much as 1) we had high expectations of him and he hasn't even come close to living up to them, and 2) we don't own him so we don't hold him as "one of ours" yet.

Kjaer has 6 months to show his worth.  If not, Wolfsburg were smart in increasing the loan amount from 2m to 3m last summer.

At this point, we need another starting-caliber CB for this year and next.  I have Juan penciled in as a starting CB.  He seems to have regained his 09-10 form which puts him as one of the best CB in the world, IMO and as long as he can stay healthy, he should be a fixture.  On a CL team, which we aspire to be next year, I see Burdisso as a 3rd choice CB.  I love his passion and what he has given us but he has to be 3rd choice.  I also have Antei penciled in as 4th choice.  I really hope he gets it.  I'm happy with DDR being 5th choice.  That said, we need another starting CB.  Will it be Kjaer or someone else???  If Sabatini can pull a 6-month loan out of his ass as an audition, that would be fantastic.  Buying a CB outright at this time, IMO, seals the fate of either Kjaer or Antei.  Let both Kjaer and a new loan audition for the job and hopefully one of them will make it.  If not, return to sender on both and back on the market in the summer.

  • DCGweez

I agree, I wouldn't keep Kjaer at this point but this game he was the best defender on the pitch, yes best. The OG you can't Blaim him, he had to try to stop the pass, no choice. Also he stepped up and heinze didn't and therefore the pass wasn't offsides

  • Philipp_sebastian

Agree. It's not easy to defend player after conceding own goal but he was "not our worst player on the pitch". Our entire team was not good enough, and we just need to admit (where it is due) JUVE WAS BETTER, no way around it. People make mistakes and we all tend to overreact when it happens but I would still give KJAER another chance. He is still young as well and we don't really have any solid alternatives before Burdisso returns ...

  • Philipp_sebastian

    The Morning after:

    1. We all know Coppa doesn't count much. However, since we are not really in other competition it would have been nice to win the pretty star and show to all that the project is on the right track. Having said that when I heard we are facing Juve away I knew this would be end of it. It's a shame.

    2. More importantly, the devastating way we lost (yes, with few side dramas ...) is hopefully not leaving a serious scar on the team. The fact we lost fair and square to better team nobody can deny and will lose sleep over.

    3. I know we hate Chiellini and his dirty tricks but Lamela still "fucked up". No excuses except he is still young, often bit over zealous yet not smart enough to digest frustrations (let's face it he didn't have a very good game, hardly saw him except for one nice pass to Gago in box). He will learn from this and the red only sticks in Coppa games next season.

    4. I always wonder "what if" Borini had scored after the beauty back heel from Totti: could have been turning point ?? Neh, not yesterday (the odds were against us) but also in general I don't recall that we have come back from goal(s) down to win a game this season, correct ? Did I miss fight back game where we succeeded ? I recall Genoa away where Borini equalized only for Heinze to fuck up late corner

I've still not seen a good shot of it, just the close up that shows Erik's foot at the bottom of the screen flying into Giorgio's giorgios.  Anyone got a clip with a zoomed our view that shows more of the situation and why Lamela and Cheillini appeared to be wrestling in the first place?

  • FreeBorini

the big nosed douche took him out for no reason prob to piss him off for a reaction cause the ball was 9 miles away and lamela got pissed and kicked him off of him and yet he got the card both should have been sent off, but hell FORZA COCO!

  • EFG

Another UVA (well, I graduated) Romanista?

Yessir!  There are absolutely no Roma fans around here!  Gotta watch the games at Trinity by myself!!

  • EFG

I'm not that old, but it wasn't Trinity when I was there. Did leave UVA v VMI football game early in 2010 and went there for Roma v Inter. Flipped out when Vucinic scored at the end and got nothing but weird looks. Oh well, Forza Roma (and Wahoowa)

  • Kilo15

Good to see UVA Romanisti here!  We should all get together for a game, I only have till May!

  • EFG

Love how it told me there was an error and posted twice.
