VotD: No Real Madrid For You.
By: chris | November 19th, 2008Though maybe some sort of co-ownership deal could be worked out where Real takes him on loan for weekends that Roma’s playing a garbage team.
Also the new Pizarro in The Poobah’s eyes, ruling out any move ever.

How is Juve expecting to finish their new stadium by 2011-2012 and we have no clue what is going on with ours?

I have played footie for most of my life. Leave Trigoria aside, because most of the blame for all of the injuries can/should be attributed to the athelete himself. If they discount discipline, continuous bodily training (other than the usual 2-3 hours spent stretching and running up and down) which should emphacize conditioning the muscles–and surprise surprise–a good diet, are a MUST.
No injuries are avoidable, but one can help prevent them by going beyond the exercises that most coaches implement and recommend.

Bashar, with all due respect, the basic answer is because Juve started the process in 2006 (maybe even 2005).
And because Torino is not Roma.
And because Roma are not Juve.

What? No one has a cluj about the new stadio? How could that be? It’s Italy, everything is efficient and expedient in the Motherland!

taddei answers to the questions from the other week. he answered my one serious question: the one about cluj.:
http://www.uefa.com/competitions/ucl/news/kind=1/newsid=776168.htmlthe other ones that he failed to answer were regarding spalletti’s dome, could rodri get me a job with the club, why won’t aqui resign already, and has anyone told him he looks like willem defoe.

They started that early? Wow.. I wish we would get on that quickly. I want us to have our own Bundesliga style stadium.. Or prem style.. whatever.. something that brings it copious amounts of euros.

Sell Aquilani already. How can you have a ‘vision’ player whose eyes are so close together? It’s not right.

i say a we sell aqui to juve, and get giovinco + 5 million in return

I think they are a bit crooked too, Maro.

When you say you think they’re a bit crooked, are you referring to Aquilani’s eyes or to Juventus, Alessio?

Aquilani’s eyes. Moggi santo subito!

He’s referring to Aquilani.. Moggi is a given. He doesn’t need to stress that. haha

And Bashar, because Juventus fans despise the Delle Alpi overwhelmingly, I’m not sure Roma fans are that anxious to leave the Olimpico.

you can hardly tell b/c its half empty all the time, its way too big; if they plan on making it the home for the National Team, thats one thing, but its far too big for a club team, most NFL stadiums arent even that big

NFL stadiums were also made after King Arthur graced the earth, unlike the Olimpico. I’m pretty sure gladiators actually fought in the Olimpico in its storied 3,000 year history.NFL stadiums also rarely hit 80,000. I think the meadowlands, arrowhead, and FedEx are the only ones that have an 80 thousand plus capacity.
Roma, along with a lot of the serie A’s issue is that people would much rather watch the game from home for an assorted amount of reasons, and despite how “blasphemous” Mourinho’s statements were, the marketing and presentation has been sketchy. You can’t just rely on quality and fundamentals. In fact, if you market well enough, those aspects are irrelevant, just ask the EPL.

Zack are you the same ‘Della’ that left the post in goal.com? If so, we’re practically neighbors, I’m in the South Bay. Cheers,

Nice points Zack, i think the new dallas stadium is going to be near 100K though and some college stadiums are near that too.
Not sure what youre getting at about Mourinho and marketing, I think I missed that, maybe you can give the details. But I have no doubt the threat of violence is a deterrent, especially for families.
I think they might just be in a down cycle, Italy was once the free spending league and I think a cycle of new stadiums will inject a new sense of excitement into the fans. While the English league doesnt necessarily have the tactics and skill of Italy or Spain, it is viewed as the best, correct? I can see how that would effect TV revenue, particularly overseas, but how does that spill over into actual attendance?
In Romas case, drawing 25-30 in an 80+ stadium just makes the team look bad, and new, safer, less cavernous stadium would be a welcome addition
