VotD: A Marco Moment.

By: chris | March 24th, 2009

Two good things happened on the weekend.

i. Filipe didn’t look like absolute rubbish. Quite the opposite, actually. He could turn out to be an incredible bargain.
ii. Marco D’Alessandro has everyone panting like dogs in heat. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he’s just a kid and plenty with more talent have flopped, but he has a lightning quick first step and roasted multiple top flight defenders. There’s something there, surely.

As of yet the YouTubes are barren, but there is one video where Marco has a Marco moment.

Jonas (from Flemish area in Belgium ;-) , raw talent, which he indeed has, should fleurish into a lot of goals at 25, imho.

Nobody expected Baptista to be anything more than a servicable backup. He has had to play more than he should be because of injuries, and he has 8 goals. He’s not Adrian Mutu…oh well, he’s about half the player Mutu is, and incidentally, that’s how much we paid for him.

I don’t even care who we replace juan with, they just need to be on the field more often.

i read some list an arsenal fan made that was 26 reasons why i hate baptista and it was redundant but hilarious. he/she listed his first touch like 10 times but anyways the highlights for me were: you are brazilian but have the touch of an elephant, despite your clearly visible stature you display no strength on the ball, get me twenty goals a season then complain about the weather you fucking panzy, you are the brazilian emile heskey, if anyone so much as blows on you you get injured (what do you eat in brazil that makes you so frail), your first touch is so bad that your second is always a 50/50 tackle, and I’ve seen oil tankers that can turn faster/sharper than you.

I can’t say i’m in agreement with this person about Bapti and i think he deserves more time, but you gotta admit this rant is kinda funny. credit to urbanlegend for digging that up.

Klaus, “Rossi: “Remember when Ronando went to Manchester, he was a major diver and everybody considered him flash but no real quality. id imagine Menez will grow similar to him, who knows to what extent”
..that’s what I’m afraid of. Nobody wants a ronaldo in Roma.”
Nobody wants his attitude and lack of loyalty the personal attributes. of course nobody wants that in Menez either. what im referring to is his technical abilities. If Menez progressed like Ronaldo you would get wet in ur pants, dont lie. Dont be bias bc everybody hates the guy, i dont like him either but if Menez could grow similarity to him technically we would definitely welcome it. Who knows if it will happen but im simply sayin i see similarities, relax with the anti-Ronaldo personality as thats not my point at all

i think agger would be a good signing too, but i don’t know if he will come to a place where he will have to fight for a starting job again. he is a little slow too, but his is a great passer and can really put his foot through the ball shooting.

    g. rossi is my dream signing too but there are too many reasons why it’d be impossible.

    @rossi, I think you mean Fadayn. :o )

I generally agree, that Menez should stay, as he’s such a promising talent.

    This is what I wrote

“Well, if Menez doesn’t WANT to play here, then we should skip him off, as I don’t wnat any players that don’t want to play. However, i hope his agent asks him to relax, and that Spa has his confidence. ”

Hence, i DO want him to stay, unless he’s a diva. I don’t like divas (Cassano anyone), as they crap up the locker room, and nobody wants to go an extra mile for each other then. This is NOT what we need atm.

Perhaps we can swap Rosina-Menez at the end of the season seeing that Torino might be relegated this summer.

I don’t see anything wrong with Menez. Having watched him play, he is just more courageous on the ball than any other players. He actually tries to get pass players and he does 1/3 times and those 1/3 times he creates a semi-good chance. That’s better than keep passing the ball back like taddei does. Yes, sometimes he makes bad decisions but his first touch is not diasterous like baptista’s. Baptista is at the peak of his career whereas Menez is not. This means Menez can improve and Baptista can only get worse. I never saw him play in Sevilla but I saw him play in Arsenal. He was awful. VERY bad. He was the sole reason Arsenal failed to plya a build up type game when he was on, and his goals most often came from lucky deflections or chance created by himself because he can not trap a pass.

Chris new post – I’m bored of all this financial talk, it’s all we get in real life; recession, downturn, blah blah blah. Any good news to hang a blog on?

Aye, Fadayn, the word is wait a bit and it will all change
    again.
Maybe we can critique some of the holier cows ?
DDR, for example, got tossed out of the most important game of the year because of his needless yellow at Emirates. Then he followed this up with a red card, plus a two match suspension, accounting for some 2.5 critical games missed.

The reason why all that Taddei does is pass because that is the system you play in at Roma. Ever notice when Roma plays its best it is when they are possessing the ball and passing efficiently.

Daniele, it’s true for any football I want to watch.
I was responding to Ben who says he enjoys watching Menez taking on 2-3 defenders as compared to taddei’s constant passing.

ben meant passing the ball backwards constantly which is usually a sign of someone out of their depth.

i don’t think taddei does that but i will try to pay more attention
