Video Of The Day: What Could Have Been

I’ll admit it, I loved Antonio Cassano. And at some point, all of you did too. It came in a package deal along with being a Roma fan. He was It. The Other Chosen One. He and Totti were a pair made in heaven, and supposed to lead this team to heights unseen. Then it all came crashing down and the love turned to anger, then disbelief, and now pity.

Antonio and Francesco were magic personified. A born duo. Jordan and Pippen, except it was more like Jordan and Jordan Jr Jr. I don’t know which is more of a reason to be mad about: The way he alienated the team and caused a massive rift which impacted the whole team or taking away the opportunity for us fans to watch Michaelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci co-create a masterpiece before our very eyes.

I watch this video in mourning for what could have been, but most importantly what should have been. If only….

I am a big admirer of Cassano’s footballing talents and I still can’t believe how such a natural talent has gone to waste. Let’s just hope his season gets back on track and he becomes the player he once was, because if he does Italy has a really good shot at Euro 2008.

Oh, I will always be happy for his success. I truly hope it comes back to him regardless who’s he playing for. He’s the type of player you cannot hate, BUT JUST LOVE!
Oh and it will be a time when he will regret some of his decisions.

I have never been in love with him, for me he wasnt even a guilty pleasure. At the end of the day … it gets dark. As much passion I have for football I am a realist and always thought that he was a liability (even when Capello had him contained somewhat). Cassano is brilliant but I hate cheap diamonds regardless how they dazzle from one side. And would never buy a blood diamond however beautiful it is that makes my Roma bleed… It is useless to think about what would have happened… it is not happening.

I liked him a lot… Too bad it ended the way it did. I don’t hate him that much now. And even though I miss him sometimes (think of… Totti as an attacking midfielder and Vucinic & Cassano up front), I wouldn’t want him to return to Roma.

I consider him to be a comical shell of his former self.
“The giocatore formally known as Antonio Cassano,” if you will.

The new partner for Totti is Di Natale… that is, if we want a Scudetto before Il Capitano hangs up his boots, it will be. (In other words, sure, Di Natale is a little old, but we need somebody who’s hitting their stride *now*, because Totti won’t be around forever.)

    Toto con Totti!

Razvan, if I saw it correctly, he hit it with the “sole” of his foot (which is another way to say the “bottom” of his foot).

i will always love cassano, just slightly less than i love totti. His talent is undeniable, and in my opinion his talent overshadowed his negatives while at roma.

as hopeless as it is, i still pray for the day he returns..

he will be back… roma is his home and francesco his sensei… for those who see him play in roma side by side with francesco we can hate him… he is the most near to a new capitano that we have before de rossi and aqualani…

Cassano’s story is still being written. His attitude and temperment have reeked havoc on his career to this point. But he is only 25, and the skills are still there. He has that sense of mind before goal that is unteachable. It’s natural as walking. Maybe that’s why he’s such a nutter: too much success, too early and he couldn’t deal. If his brain can somehow fortify, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in trotting out for the Azzurri. His days in Rome, however, are likely to remain memories.

I always love Cassano. In all soccer game, whenever possible I always buy him because in the game you wouldnt really get his ‘antiques’.
To me, he’s still the most talented player of his generations.

totti-cassano-(sometimes carew or montella, more begining of the season)
    lima- emerson-dacourt-mancini(1st yr, breakout)
    zebina- samuel- chivu(fuckface)- pannucci
x- I know his face cant find his name started with a p tho.

that was the last roman team to compete for serie a. lets do it this time.

    totti
    mancini perrota taddei
    de rossi aqualani
    tonnetto juan mexas cici
    doni

thats a better team capable of winning it this time around. lets do it. i loved cassano but he was the biggest disapointment in the football world, let alone the roma fans football world.

i love cassano, always have, always will. i know a lot of roma fans hate cassano, but lets not forget without him we may have ended up in serie b! Totti is my favorite player, and I’m one of the loudest voices in his campaign to win the Ballon D’Or, but when he did that stupid thing against Siena and got a 7 match ban it was Cassano who supplied all of our offense. He had a hand in every goal scored while Totti was out and was a good captain in Il Capitano’s absense. I admit he ended up being a negative influence on his teammates, but he was also made into a scapegoat. don’t forget he did have some good games for us before he left that season.

Nice video. But it could’ve been better had it included the “telepathy” passing between him and Totti — the one seen in the beginning of this video:

That video reminded me of some good time. Cassano was a very cool character in front goal, it is a shame he had some many other personality flaws which cost him the best years of his career. I know he is only 25 but usually when you start early and you fall so far it is highly improbable that he will recover. When watching the video I noticed that he and Di Natale play so similar, just that Cassano’s finishing is a whole lot better than Di Natale’s. I would still want Di Natale this summer despite that.

I hate him so much because I loved him so much, and Cassano is right in thinking he still owes us, but that would be like the eagles taking TO back.
