‘Tis The Gooners.

So like…if the new Roma can wallop Chelsea, what do you think they can do to London’s second best team? Great draw.

    Eh ESPN?

Why so we can listen to Tommy Smythe stick his old ass tongue up the ass of Fergie, Crynaldo, and John Terry and slupr up all the shit he can?

    Hell yeah, ESPN.

I’d rather chuckle at Tommy Smythe choking up or exhalting like he ate a Harry Potter Tylenol than to spend 15 minutes fighting for any shitty stream I can get online.

I especially can’t wait for “this is unbelievable. The dirty Italian cheats aren’t supposed to be winning. This is not how it happens in my head!”

here’s additional comments made by wenger:

Wenger: Roma are like Barcelona Friday 19 December, 2008

Arsene Wenger fears Arsenal will have a tough time against Roma. “They play a lot like Barcelona, so it’s a very even tie.”

The Giallorossi struggled in the early European games – and in Serie A – but have rallied since crushing Chelsea 3-1 and topped their group.

“Roma are a technical side,” Wenger told UEFA. “They have players like [Daniele] De Rossi, [Alberto] Aquilani, [Simone] Perrotta, [Rodrigo] Taddei, [Julio] Baptista who played here.

“They’re a team where you want to defend very well. They play a lot like Barcelona, so it’s a very even tie.”

i’d prefer some trash-talking and over-confidence myself, rather than these feigned accolades / favourable comparison to barca. makes the prospect of bitch-slapping them much more appealing. make no mistake, though, we are in for a tough pair of games against a quality team and, on paper, could be the most entertaining tie of this round.

more wenger waxing lyrical on our team (in italian, sorry). I had to look twice when i read “roma”, instead of “palermo”, in reference to wenger saying that we are the best team in italy at the moment. imagine that…

bren, derrek rae is more tolerable than some of the other nuts, but he doesnt show much proclivity towards discussing any matches/teams that do not involve an english team..2 seconds will be spent telling us who has moved on the next round if it is a non-epl team..however, for epl teams (whether loser/winner) you will walk away with any relevant details like the brand of undies the epl team’s players prefer.

It’s funny that the original quote from Wenger included Totti and the one I read first said nothing about him. I thought Wenger was pulling a Ferguson by saying good things about other Roma players and ignoring the one and only Totti.

Spalletti is always humble and respectful, as far as I recall. The media probably hate that they can’t get a little war going on comments he makes.

Great, thats one less english club in the Champions League. Hopefully their injury list piles up, and they don’t make any transfer buys.

I know everyone is pumped up with the CL draw (and so am I), but what I’m most excited is this Sunday’s away match against Catania. I want nothing more than Roma to win the last match of the year but I’m also wary of Zenga and his form at home. Can’t wait.
Rosella is naming her second child Francesco. sweet.

Here is a bit of news that I borrowed from “Gladiatoreromano” a fellow Romanista over on Serieaforums which I though should interest some of you. He found the following quote:

“The agent of French goalkeeping starlet Yohann Pelé has revealed that Roma are in pole position to secure the custodian’s signature.

Roma are looking for a reliable understudy to Brazilian No 1 Alexander Doni as they don’t have complete faith in current reserve Arthur.

Pelé has won widespread acclaim for his performances at Ligue 1 minnows Le Mans and is believed to be a target for a number of European sides, including the Giallorossi.

While the club have denied that Pelé will be leaving in January, the player’s agent sees things differently.

“Roma are interested and there are also Spanish, English and German teams tracking him,” Duro Ivanisevic told LaRoma24.it.

“The Lupi have been monitoring his progress since even before the last transfer window.

“There certainly won’t be a renewal with Le Mans and so in January he will move on.

“Within a few weeks, the destination will be revealed, but at this stage it will most likely be Roma.

“I think Yohann is ready for Italian football and for a big European club like the Giallorossi and so they are our first choice.”

This is good news I believe. I feel bad for Artur, but if ROMA can step up the quality of our back-up goalkeeper, then this is good news.

    Pauly!

… strange but here in Philadelphia i see a number of Inter shirts – and it only makes me think, poor, deluded, looser fan – but every so often i see a Roma jersey and it makes me happy all over.

i kind of like the fact that we aren’t a Chelsea, Inter, Man U or Milan. if i was seeing Roma shirts all over something wouldn’t be right. …wold have been so good to be bought by Soros; anyone else could turn us into one of them
