Thinking About The Unthinkable: Behrami to Roma.
By: chris | October 17th, 2008
I’ve actually got a host of important stuff I’m hoping to get up later – important like Totti important (things are looking good right now, fingers crossed) – but I went completely slack jawed reading this moments ago and really just cannot wrap my head around it.
Without further ado…
Valon Behrami:
“I wouldn’t have any problems playing in the Giallorossi shirt, in fact, if they call me I will move there straight away,” Behrami told Leggo.“I am happy here at West Ham but if the club needs to sell me then I will leave. Lazio? I know they would be annoyed if I went to Roma but I am a professional and these things happen in football.”
According to his agent, Roma has made contact to express their interest because West Ham may be forced into a firesale soon with their ownership in deep, deep financial shit. And though Taddei’s the least of anyone’s problems, the only thing Spalletti loves more than Fancypants Pizarro is hybrid-RB/RW’s. So…as unthinkable as it may be, it’s not that unthinkable matters could proceed.
Behrami might be a technically good player, but you can never wash the stains of a Lazio jersey off one’s soul. Personally, I’d have my new Christian Wilhelmsson, aka target of irrational hate (more rational in this case). But is it worth it to stick it to the Laziali once again? Can only imagine the hate campaign were a giallorosso to move to Lazio less than 6 months after leaving the good fellas.
And of course, this isn’t a Rosi/Domizzi case, where they grew up a Roma fan, only playing for the baby blues out of necessity.
So the question becomes…
Would you take Behrami in giallorosso?

I hope we never end up signing former Lazio players. It would really suck the passion right out of the derby.
Look at Inter – Milan. Half of Inter’s players go to Milan. (Pirlo, Ronaldo, Brocchi, Vieri, Seedorf)
Where is the passion if half of the players played for both teams?

Uh, have you ever watched the derby della Madonnina?
I won’t comment on Behrami cause I don’t know if he’s pissed off Romanistas, but the-evil-team’s-players-switching isn’t always bad. Cannavaro and C. Zanetti were former Interistas. C. Zanetti is very popular among Juventini, Cannavaro was. Stankovic verbally trashed Juve though, so he’s different. So I guess if the player wants to move on, why not consider it but if he ever gave the big ‘ole vaffanculo to Romanistas then of course not.

I’ll be honest I said yes… simply due to his versatility, his Vice Taddei-ness, and value. Sure he was Laziale, but I mean is there no bigger fuck you to the babyblues that he’d rather play for us?

I mean Id never accept a Roma playing going from us to them… but the other way around just means they finally get what its about. They got smarter hehe!

Besides… he was never a symbol of Lazio and he left because he wanted NO part of their organisation! That doesnt really scream Laziale in the classical sense!

i know alesso but it’s something new to have played on both sides of Derby la roma, i don’t think it has happened before, we were thinking that it would happen if our board were idiotic to get Crespo, but it didn’t happen, but then again, crespo didn’t say that he would “run to roma” like behrami said, i don’t know what to think of this guy,BUT if he is able to turn the season around (i don’t think he can) then why not, but i pray that our board deals with this professionally!

Nice assesment CMP, i think that anyone in italy, wouldn’t have it, but i’m actually on the border with this one, hmmm

Your board shoulda grabbed Crespo, Mostafa. Sure he’s a mercenary, but he has had almost a .5 record goal:games at all the Italian clubs he’s played at. Milan, Inter, Parma, Lazio…a 3:4 ratio at Lazio, that’s incredible. A mercenary, no doubt, but he’d have given his all.

1. I voted for Behrami. (hides under his bed)
2. Daniele, I don’t know whether you read my posts in the previous section, but we’ve discovered the identity of the person posing as Pauly (I’m trying to bang Daniele). You won’t be surprised to find out that this cute person writes on Palermo blog. This is the 16. postPosted from

I voted for Behrami. We need depth, and he would add some versatility to the squad. . . as for Sunday’s game, I would be thrilled if we won, but I have a feeling that this game is not going to go our way. Inter may very well score, even though WE have the run of play and have ALL of the chances but to little avail. I believe games such as these come down to mentality and depth. And inter are in much better position than Roma. mourinho will have his team ready to go, they are in form and bullying teams. We are erratic, sporadic, unorganized, desperate and being pushed-over by teams we should be wiping all over the field, no matter what injuries we are facing. Perhaps a victory could be the elixir we need, or rewinding the clock and bringing in our squad at least a month early so training together in tranquility with no interruptions (or injuries) before the season starts and not during the actual campaign. In a perfect world, we could accomplish a lot, however a CL spot is what is what we should be shooting for if this pattern continues. we just seem to not be able to handle what is occurring nor have the fortitude in numbers nor the mentality to respond accordingly. Hopefully, I Lupi prove me wrong on Sunday but I am already fearing the worst, and unfortunately we face Chelsea (away) and Roma Nord (aka Udinese) the following week.

Hmm, maybe alesso but his time has passed don’t you think, and personally i don’t see any NEW superstars coming to football at all, By superstars i mean players that actually affect the game(not cr3.5), there are very few of them as it is(messi being top), and i think the true no 10’s in the world are disappearing ones like totti i mean, everyone was depending on him, like in other teams there is someone who makes everything work, we are just the first team to feel what it is like to lose your base, but still not to make this comment any longer, let’s end it with….
FORZA ROMA/Gialorossi/i lupi/la magica/Totti/er pupone/his tottiness/il capitano/ddr/ka/vucigol/baptigol/gomr/sexy mexy/maragon(lol)/J smooth/Fifa/tonetto/(even)risse/(even)fancypants/pizzaman/cicinho/loria/TGIP/stefano/chuka/okaka/lol/menez/artur/ (who else do we got?)
Well alesso i guess i managed to make it longer

The real point is, he’s not really a necessity, so its all hearsay anyhow….get a striker for crying out loud

From a pragmatic point of view, Behrami would be ideal as an acquisition during the winter transfer window.
A top-flight team simply cannot fail to have a back-up for every position. We need somebody with Taddei’s characteristics, and I think Behrami could be the right man for the job. I don’t like him either, but honestly, if he’s willing to commit himself to the cause and Spalletti thinks he could provide a serious boost to this team, then we should let his past go; especially if he helps us win something important… would be fun to see the Laziali’s reaction then.
For comparison purposes, I’m not so sure Milan fans are, at any given time, very eager to welcome among their ranks Interisti, but it has happened a couple of times in the not-so-remote past. The acquisitions: Andrea Pirlo and Clarence Seedorf.
Remind me, how many trophies did they win over that span?
I think the fans have forgiven them.

Bren, the right-wing position is the only position in which we don’t have a true back-up, how can you say that’s not a necessity. I agree that a full-out striker would also help the cause, but we have Totti, Vucinic, Baptista and Okaka… as well as Montella, that can fill out that role.
As for the right-wing? Taddei and Virga.
Nothing against Valerio, but I personally would rather not be partial to a hypothetical start in, say, the Champions League.

If the price is right. Anyone remember Fabio Liverani? He’s a Romanista born and bred and I believe we had wanted to sign him a few years back but it was not completed due to his Laziale history (tidbit: he was the first black guy to play in the biancoceleste jersey in history, kudos). A shame since he was a good player and available on a free, I think…
