Yeah I think that Aquilani is gone. Very sad to see such a good player go, but maybe it is for the best. What I don’t get with Liverpool, is why don’t they do a swap deal with madrid involving Xabi for 15 mill plus a striker. That striker pairs with Torres, Gerrard moves behind the striker, and their midfield is fine. I think they r taking a bigger risk than us. I think we will see Aquilani back at Roma in a couple of years
Oh and huntelaar is off the buying list as he is pretty much bought by Milan.

Since Totti, Vuci, Baptista won’t be playing against Gent (most likely), and D’Alessandro is out on loan, I would like us to start Tovalieri. If he is the so called, ‘next Totti’, I want to see him play.

palermo just swapped amelia for rubinho … maybe some money too

Isn’t Amelia a better player? Shit.. Genoa are gonna be good.

amelia is way better than rubinho, consistency that is. Should have kept Amelia.

Genoa are good at grinding out results and gamesmanship. Goddamn they dive a lot and milk the clock. Their play reminds me of Portugal in the 06 world cup.

Jake, do you know how many people have been labeled ‘the next Totti’? The label doesn’t even phase me anymore.

Bashar, I have been thinking the same thing about Andreolli not starting in the fist Gent game. He had better start this next one. What drives me crazy is why the hell would we not play the boy when we know we need to have a quality CB. I guess Spalletti knows something we don’t, but Andreolli sure looked good in the Under 21 tourney.
I suppose it was fear that we might lose that game but he has got to start Andreolli this next game.Posted from

I don’t understand why we didn’t bring Ameila home.

Besides the money of course.

Mac, Spalletti hasn’t changed a bit. He still blindly snubs young players, no matter how qualified they are, in favor of ‘experience’.

I think the lack of options will make him make choices he usually would not.

I used to think that until Spalletti put Montella into the 2nd leg against Arsenal when he had Menez on the bench. That would have been a sub that made sense considering that Arsenal were tired, Menez is quick, and we were only sending 2 or 3 players up when we had the ball which would mean it wouldn’t matter if Menez tried to dribble 3 defenders.

really you guys. all KJ did all last season was say how Palermoo was going to kick our ass and rise above us on the charts to finish top four. let him dream all he wants. watch as they get spanked so hard by Napoli that Zampa’ sacks Zenga, only to replace him with Zenga the following week because he has already gone through every other second-rate coach in the book.
Miccoli won’t be able to find his nipples after Naples schools him.
KJ just wishes his team wore yellow and red, had Totti in the line-up, and wasn’t so, well … gay.

Oh, Richie, you’re so smart. what’s a condescending tool like you doing waisting your time on us plebs at the Roma blog. why don’t you fuck off somewhere else … where other intelligent, arrogant fuckers can exchange bravado comments and quips and yank on each others dicks all day long in one big circle-jerk of football knowledge. surely you would get more pleasure that way.
and so would we.

I agree sneaks that going on his record there is not much room to argue that he will change his tactics, but, he did start Goober last game right. Right?

Whatever happened to trusting in youngsters eh Mister ? I really respect Spalletti as a tactician , he has done some wonderful things at Roma but since the last year or so he has been hurting Roma with his stubborness.
His tactical approach to the game is just a “one way” route. He has no plan B and suddenly is been found wanted by other managers. His training regime is totally fucked up for some strange reason and we all know how much it has costed us. Then his stubborness in player selection and now he is almost on the verge of selling Aquilani and even showing Andreolli the door but somehow doesn’t see the fuck-ups caused by Pizzaman and Taddei.
I want to see the man succeed and want him to make Roma a good side but I think for that to happen he needs to fucking relax and cut down on his favouritism.
I just fear that he is going to get to CL and leave us and in the end of the day I think that 4th spot is coming at the expense of Panucci + Aquilani + Andreolli and maybe even Menez.

I respect the management’s decision to sell Aquilani (if the reports are true): he was always injured and never showed a consistent run of form… but I think the amount received is too low. Because he’s Roman he should be worth more to us. For that sum I would rather have taken the gamble on him ourselves, maybe kept him for a couple more seasons and hoped the combination of surgery and new medical staff worked to his advantage.
Oh well, c’est la vie… this might be best for all involved.
Injuries stop now!!!!!

We should have gotten rid of Spalletti when we had the chance. A manager that never plays young one, but rather go for the old static players that gets a chance over and over again. How many young players have had their break through with Spalletti? Have he focused on our defence, which was much of the reason for last seasons breakdown. The only reason Spalletti is still at roma is that there were not another good option. I feel Spalletti is doing the same misstake over and over and never correct it. I hope im wrong but the odds is by looking on last season, is that he wont change.

Jonathan,
Spaletti loved Aqui and played him a lot when he was fit. it was just that he was hardly fit.
if we lost him, this could go either way …
if we get a Huntelaar or a Lugano, it could be well worth it and we will be all impressed at what a good team we have
if we get another Pizarro (one is more than enough, thankyou) or Abate (who is good, but do we really need another midfielder?), it could be bad.
