State Of The Roma

Par3382473Depth Chart

The plan was to do some sort of t-2 week roster breakdown and speculate til I couldn’t speculate no more, one I even began on Monday with lots of blank stares, head scratching and Stefano Okaka Chuka YouTube-watchin’. But alas, I’ve been ever so lucky – Claudio has done me the favor.

There are no reserve teams in Italy and therefore there is no Roma reserves, unless you count Siena (R.I.P.). Claudio’s English education has enlightened him to the ways of the backup squad, and he’s fashioned his own out of the undesirables, unrequired footballing lepers.

AS Roma is now preschool: one session in the morning, this for the smart children, and one in the afternoon for the ’special group’, those who will fill societal gaps. And become lawyers.

Claudio’s trimming the fat, if just for the final three training days before the cup of super (including Wednesday).

I steal from Blogistuta because if I have one elite skill in this life, it’s cutting and pasting. Coloring inside the lines? Not so much.

Group A:

Julio Sergio, Lobont, Pena; Burdisso Jr., Cassetti, Juan, Riise, Rosi; Brighi, De Rossi, Ménez, Perrotta, Pizarro, Simplicio, Taddei; Adriano, Okaka, Totti, Vucinic

Group Get-the-Hell-Out:
Doni; Andreolli, Antunes, Cicinho, Loria; Barusso, Cerci, Faty, Greco, Pit*; Baptista
* It is correct to put him down as a midfielder, right? Sorry, “midfielder”

You’ll notice Philippe Mexes in limbo, footballing purgatory, because that’s where people who captain the French national team these days go. However, we can be reasonably assured he’ll land somewhere near the first XI, if not in the first XI once Nicolas Burdisso makes his plane to Rome on the morning of the 28th. (Book it.)

While it may be easy for organizational purposes and sends the all-too-clear message that it’s best time to find a new club and/or start accepting life in the Greek not-so-SuperLeague, I’m not a fan. A number of these players are going to remain in Rome simply because dumping half a roster with two weeks til the deadline, some of them on contracts which make Vernon Wells look the bargain of the century (note for our non-baseball following brethren: worst contract in sports – ever), and being demoted can’t possibly improve that vaunted ‘Roman chemistry’. It may not hurt it, but it certainly won’t improve. Least not when Cicinho hires Brighi’s agent.

But it does do one thing: makes assessing the squad much, much easier.

So without further ado, the depth chart with those that matter.

Keeper

1. JSB; 2. Lobont; 3. Alex Pena

(The keeper depth chart will not look like this on September 1. The end.)

Defence

RB:
1. Cassetti; 2. Rosi

CB:
1. Juan; 2. Mexes; 3. Burdisso II

LB: 1. John Arne Riise; 2. A one-legged John Arne Riise; 3. Rosi

Midfield

Here lies a problem. Conventional wisdom says two things: a) Ranieri will generally start out with something vaguely 4-4-2/4-3-3, and b) it will not end up like that.

Thus we have “roles”, many of which are loosely defined. So we’ll need to get creative.

Position Daniele De Rossi: 1. Daniele De Rossi.

Regista: 1. David Pizarro; 2. Fabio ‘Simply’ Simplicio.

Balanced RW (4-4-2):
1. Rodrigo Taddei; 2. Simone ‘Footballing Jesus’ Perrotta; 3. Matteo Brighi.

Unbalanced RW (or with balanced LW – 4-4-2):
1. Le Show.

Unbalanced LW (4-4-2): 1. It; 2. Le Show.

Balanced LW (4-4-2): 1. Simone ‘Footballing Jesus’ Perrotta; 2. Matteo Brighi; 3. A leftback who doesn’t understand tactics.

General central midfield (4-4-2/4-4-3): 1. Simone ‘Footballing Jesus’ Perrotta; t2. Rodrigo Taddei; t2. Matteo Brighi; t2. Fabio Simplicio; .

* – At this point I needed to move from the couch to the desk, turn on the light and actually, unthinkably concentrate, in the midst of which I was asked “you look sick – do you feel alright?”.

Claudio Ranieri, ladies and gentlemen.

Att…

Treq:
1. Simone Perrotta; 2a. Fabio Simplicio; 2b. Le Show; 3. Matteo Brighi.

…ack

LW (4-3-3): 1. Mirko; 2. Le Show.

RW (4-3-3):
1. Le Show.

ST (4-4-2/4-3-3): 1. His Francesconess; 2. Mirko; 3. Adriano; 4. Okakachukamuthafucka; 5. Jenny Craig (package deal).

The Unloved Ones

Doni; Andreolli, Antunes, Cicinho, Loria; Barusso, Cerci, Faty, Greco, Pit; Baptista.

These can probably be separated into two groups:

i. Players who they wouldn’t mind sending off on loan while covering the entire contract.

ii. Those they wouldn’t.

The breakdown:

i. Andreolli, Antunes, Loria, Barusso, Faty, Greco, Pit

ii.
Doni, Cicinho, Cerci, Baptista

Therefore we can consider Group I gone while they attempt to find suitors for Group II. Cerci, though not makin’ the millions, has one year left on his contract and it makes no sense to send him off when they could use his energy, direct running, dribbling and complete inability to pass the football every once in awhile.

Unless…

Mercato

They need a Burdisso-type and a vice-Riise regardless. The luxury will come if they can offload some combination of the Brazilians, at which point a winger is on the docket.

Simple in theory, complex in practice, but fortunately time is plentiful.

I don't really care about this aquilani thing. I enjoy watching him play and find him quite entertaining when fit. This move is good for him and good for the italian national team.

Good luck aquilani, except against us

  • Bren

The Aquilani thing would be more upsetting if he actually played some sort of sport, he's mostly used for medical experiments at this point

  • Richie Fucking Maggio

Well said! Aquilani, in case some of you might not want to accept it, is fully accepting the move to fucking Juventus in full knowledge that it will piss off ROMA and us the fans. Juventus??? What a fucking dick. Some might say this is Aquilani's way of getting back at everyone. Lets hope the Juventus bench or medical table will be our way to say to him "fuck you too Aquilani!"

Oh, and if my fears are on point and Doni starts the game, expect an embarassing loss tomorrow. It doesnt matter if Mexes and Juan are in front of him, Doni will manage to be himself and let some easy balls go in.

  • amir

I want Burdiso senior back to Roma.
As much as you all love MExes, he is not the same mexes from few seasons ago.
Burdiso is far more consistant and thats what Roma needs back there with Cassetti on the right making mistakes all the time.

  • It might have been a good business deal to let go of Aquilani, but I am tired of the fact that we don't even have the financial clout to keep our home grown talent, let alone sign new players. This year, what with the ownership of the club being in a limbo, we have not purchased a single player. We have been restricted to getting players on loan (or getting free agents) and we don't have the money to buy the only player that we want to buy. Not to mention that we lost Motta (at a blind auction of all things) and sold Guberti. So, our squad is basically the same as it was last year, with the other competitors (Juventus) having ostensibly strengthened their squad. The picture then, does not look rosy.

Despite of all this, what I don't understand is how we are being touted as the only team capable of challenging Inter and how does it make sense to me?

  • Inter lost Mourinho and got Rafa that's already half their value, they also picked up Kuyt which weakens them further, missed mascherano who's chase will have unsettled all the midfielders at inter. We've filled the striker role with jenny craig, who similar to Toni will do a great job for us, only better and for longer (doubters put your names here), and if we can unburden ourselves of the human garbage that was so touted on this board (Baptista) we can afford to pick up the full backs we need so fucking desperately as well as Burdisso.

  • agiamba

Cause Inter are bound to drop a bit, Juve went from shit to not-so-shit, and Milan is still garbage.

  • Mivigliotti

Alberto Aquilani: "Lascio la Roma per il bene della società ma se dovessi tornare in Italia lo farei solo per giocare con la maglia giallorossa".

    Haha

  • Bashar_ASR

I forgot about this.. tastes very bitter

  • Mivigliotti

How much worse does that make you feel? How can he play for that team the only worse would be to play for Inter or lazio. I mean he has to know right that this looks so bad.

  • meh he's a fascist, it never sat well with me, I know that's not the thing to say for the true romanisti but it's a personal belief

  • tim

Gazzetta.it reporting Aquilani to Juve is a done deal

  • tim

i was wondering why nobody wrote anything...because i had it sorted by most popular comments...

  • ForzaRoma

so looks like sculli to inter collapses and they went for benitez favorite kuyt,if liverpool asks too much and inter withdraws then there is a possibility they will take baps
there were rumors last week about that and if you remember rafa briefly wanted him at pool last year
and i hope aquilani will have a season like the one in england, dont play much even if fit(coz out of form),recover slowly and warm the bench,so basically stay fit and dont play and only train(that requires marchisio and co to stay fit and play normal) so jokentus will not pay 17M or so for warming the bench and his price will go down even further and we can bring him back for 10M,hahahaha

  • ForzaRoma

return him if ONLY he wants to start a new adventure and forget that he once was the "jewel" in roman midfield and dont consider himself as a very important player like he always did
i am sure he has already forgotten his good days in rome after a disastrous season
and btw,i think its his nice girlfriend who convinced him to accept any deal but in italy

  • kistajk

The main point is, why do we have a habit of selling our good players and keeping the crap ones? Chris' post clearly showed we have 1 full team of craps, don't you think that's too much for a Serie A and CL contender?

Still can't believe we sold Chivu, Mancini and Aquilani, but not Baptista. Say what you want about those 3 guys, but they were great when they played for us. Yes they had their terrible moments, but so did DDR, Vuci and Mexes.

  • Now that he's joined Juve I hope he's as good as he was for us and liverpool. i.e. rarely plays and costs 300k a game in wages.

  • nino

word on the street that Supercoppa Clash between roma-inter won't be on television!! :(

sooo tomorrow, send me as many streams as possible! lol

  • Dhaw

Hahahha. I was the first to say here that Aquilani wont last more than 1 year in Liverpool and he will make a move to Juventus and thats exactly that happened.

It was a good business move by Roma to sell him to Liverpool and that be it , end of the day thats the difference between a professional player(aquilani) and a passionate player (ddr/mexes)

Good luck to Aquilani. Now let's make him out biatch.

It was his dad who has been pulling all the strings - they wanted Juve always. So who gives a fuck,

  • Arfaestnes

Say it ain't so, Alberto. Say it ain't so.

  • Bashar_ASR

Option to buy for 17 mn euros. I'm not sure if it's worth it. If Juve take it then Liverpool will have come out of that disaster almost unscathed. If he can stay healthy all year and perform decently (he doesn't have to be spectacular) then Juve should take it. If he shows any sign of physical fragility then it's a waste of money.

  • Bashar_ASR

On another note. The club need to hire a psychiatrist to sit with Doni for a long session before the supercoppa. He's been even stupider and more mentally fragile than I've ever seen him. The past 3 or 4 games (or half games) he's played he's conceded boatloads of goals. I think 2-3 in each.

  • Jonas

remember I don't like Doni, but those shitload of goals could also come from guys like Loria and Andreolli during pre season

we still didn't had a Burdisso sr or a Mexes-Juan CB,when those are on,even Doni and Lobont will look better than now

but still,JSB all the way for me baby

  • Bashar_ASR

Panathinaikos? 5 goals in 1.5 games?

  • Jonas

yea major brainfart,Doni somehow has a gift to concede goals every time he steps on the pitch tho

strange how he went from one of our best GK this decennium (talking 06-07-08 here with the 2 coppa wins, good CL campaign ) to one of our worst ever (last year, since JSB stepped out of the darkness)

  • if you even consider Doni at fault for a single goal from last week's friendly it is blatantly obvious that you neither play or attend football in real life.

    jesus wept.

  • ROD

    4-2-3-1
    rosi-juan-mexes-riise
    DDR-perrotta

you know what, fuck it, fuck him, on a day like today i only have nine words.............

    GRAZIE TOTTI
    GRAZIE DE ROSSI
    FORZA MEXES
    FORZA ROMA SEMPRE

  • Gio

and Kuyt to Inter - wow. they lost Balotelli and got Kuyt. that is a huge step down.

  • Bashar_ASR

I don't really think so. Kuyt has his head on straight, helped the Netherlands to the WC final and is a CL veteran*. He saves his best games for the big occasions. Mentally he makes up for everything he lacks technically (relative to Balotelli) and more.

    * I use the term veteran loosely. He hasn't played as many games, but all his best games have come in that competition.

  • Gio

    Aquilani to Juve

  • agiamba

Look at it this way- I always thought Aquilani would end up at Inter. At least he's showing up at a team that is building itself around young Italians. Feel bad for you all though, it would hurt to see Marchisio line up in Merdazzurro.

  • ForzaRoma

you all juve fans are so proud to have young(actually 24-25 isnt young),italian and azzurri-guaranteed players in your team, that you forget the most important in football - quality
and i rather describe your team as the calciopoli and serie B kings lol

you proved your retardation and its impossible to speak with you, maybe only felipe melo can help you to overcome mental difficulties as he has the same problems
and enough of this shit,i lost all my respect and interest towards you and this topic and will never again look here

  • kurdt

    Everyone is a bit exaggerating.

  • chase

Aquialani to Juventes??? that sucks, even if it is on loan! Part of me wishes we didn't have Pizzarro just so Alberto could have stuck around and had more playing time... but it's a thought from the heart, not the brain. Aquialini still hasn't showed evidence of living up to all his potential and promise, though is opportunities at first team football have been pretty small.

  • Bashar_ASR

    Pizarro >> Aquilani right now

  • tim

agreed, pizarro was a catalyst last season and aquilani would have been hurt for a large part of the season.

  • DeGuilio

i can't believe what i'm reading. It's Liverpools fault Aquilani will go to Juve? Hodgsen must have forced this move? Prade should go because Aquilani is a Juve player (he should go but not for this)? Fucking WHAT???? You really think Aquilani didn’t have a say in this move, you really think his loyalties lay with Roma. Those went out the door the minute he became more than a great prospect. After that Lazio goal he was the “future of Italia” and he’s been acting that way ever since.

Will everyone please stop romanticizing about this guy. He’s never been Totti or De Rossi, he’s never been a true gladiator, he’s never been more than just a spoiled rich kid that wouldn’t train hard and play through minor injuries, he’s never been a Roman he’s just been a guy that was born in Rome. Sure he’s possess talent, but he’s 26, he’ll never be more than what he’s been for both Roma and Liverpool, a guy that looks good when playing, but is hardly fit to play. He’s following his dream, and that dream is to become the biggest star he can be, it has nothing to do with Rome. Goodbye Alberto, and this time it’s finally forever.

    Forza Roma
    Aquilani Merda

  • Lucian

Romantics aside... Roma sold Aquilani primarily because they got a good price for a player who had great potential (as opposed to an established champion). As ForzaRoma points out, he's injury prone, and was recovering when he went to Anfield.

If Roma had deeper pockets (and longer arms), they wouldn't have sold him, and Aquilani would have been all the happier for staying in Giallo Rosso.

Shame to see him play for our historical arch enemy, but good for him. Playng for Juve will give him a good shot at making the Nazionale.

  • Bashar_ASR

A bit harsh. I still look back on him fondly even if he did join Juve and even if he does score on us. But I agree with everything you were saying. He could have been amazing if he didn't have these injury problems. His attitude was questionable at times, even though most of those questions came out of his agent's words/actions.

  • ForzaRoma

exactly,he,knowing his injury-proneness and spalletti's trust toward pizzaman, even demanded more than de rossi earned and got his contract just days before leaving rome
he will forever be il principe, but not a roman gladiator,at least for me
though mexes is truly roman and very good defender,i see the same romantic similarities from many fans who think he is really great, should always play and is way better than burdisso or even juan(the cool and calm motherfucker, haha) and just needs to regain his form to be the best again

  • Mivigliotti

Just to show you that what Totti has done to stay with his hometown club is awesome and loyal.

  • ForzaRoma

if we didnt have debt and had a normal owner at least, then we could have loaned alberto with an option to buy for 8-10M instead of getting simplicio
anyways, its not that painful at all, juve medical team sucks and he,like always is injured,i bet he will not start more then 10 games
i,from the moment we sold him to reds,am still sure he will be the next keane for liverpool - go for huge money and return to his previous club for the half price after a year or two

  • Bashar_ASR

The player returning to his old club isn't a Liverpool thing. It's a Tottenham thing. I always thought that he will go somewhere else in Italy and it looks to be the case. I just thought it would be Inter.

  • Yeah it's a tottenham thing...although Keane has played at 9 clubs in england and only spent half a season playing for pool really so I dont know what he's raving about. juve medical team is ten times Romas fucking S&M chamber of a medical team. And we dont have debt. And the option to buy will be closer to 20m POUNDS. actually the only thing thats correct there is 'Forzaroma' at the beginning :)

  • AYR.

cicinho is a rock n roll prince.
most talented player in rome at the moment.

  • Jonas

say that loud in the streets of Rome and you'll be eaten alive

  • Aquilani leaving was bad enough, but Aquilani to Juve is painful. Very painful indeed.

  • Bashar_ASR

It's painful, but I have no regrets over our decision to sell him. It was the right move to make.

  • chase

From a financial standpoint we made a heck of a deal. Poor Alberto hasn't done anything since he left Roma, but it still hurts! From a neutral standpoint the move all made sense, but for a Roman I think it will always be tough.

  • Beppe

WHAT?! Why didn't we think of this?!? Prade needs to go, NOW!

It seems Aquilani is going to Juve...

  • Mivigliotti

I just read that Aquilani is almost a Juve player WTF!

  • ForzaRoma

am i the only one who thinks menez is wasted on wings and is born to play as a trequartista?
from there he can do all the things he does best - dribble in the box, earn a pk or give an assist, get back and recover the ball often and take his marking defender to wing and open space in the center

  • kurdt

He is, but that would mean less space for Totti. If Totti doesn't play, he could take the slot supporting Vuci-Adriano.

  • Is baptista doing an english player style blackmail? You know holding out for a 'loyalty bonus' before leaving? Fat prick. Could they not plant cocaine in his car or something? jesus, just get out.

We need fullbacks, supposing Burdisso changes jerseys at halftime on saturday we should be covered for centre backs.

Is aquilani moving to Torino to try out their medical services? I hear they use drips and pills more than massage and concrete pitches like we do.

  • Haha, spike his sports drinks with coke!

We might need Nick Burdisso in the second half if the Merdazzuri stay with tradition and injure half our guys.

  • Loochybaby

Pizarro should start, even if he's not played any games.

does anyone know if this game is being shown in england?

  • Rudy_Roma

I really think we should play 4-3-3 versus Inter with Menez and Vuci on the wings and Totti as a attacking midfielder/striker so we at least have an extra midfielder. That means that Adriano is gonna be on the bench but I think he might be very usefull to bring him in play round the 60-70th minute. midfield would looke like this: Perrotta-DDR-Brighi. Pizarro isn't fit at all so I think Simplicio could replace one of the 3 midfielders above here. all right, I can't wait!!

  • Rudy_Roma

after checking all roma-related sites on the worldwideweb, I found that Ranieri is about to start the Supercoppa game like this:

    (4-4-2)
    Lobont
    Cassetti-Juan-Mexés-Riise
    - DDR-Perrotta

    Taddei - Menez
    - Totti-Vucinic

however, Ranieri is still in doubt of playing Perrotta and Menez. maybe he sacrifices one of them and play Simplicio.. but we'll see

  • i just heard that Liverpool might loan Aquilani to Napoli :O

i dont think thats right, hes Roman ffs. oh well, what can you do...

  • Rolland AS Roma

I say keep Cicinho. he is good at RW & can play at LB as well. with addition of CL games this season, we need a big squad. just pray that injury don't drop by & stay with us.

  • If we can't sell him at a good price, we should use him - I still like him more than Cassetti even after the goal last season.

  • Rolland AS Roma

true. i'd prefer Cici play at RW because he did well there (since he's an offensive player & good at crossing) and he proved that during Mr Spal time. i am sure that most of us agree that Taddei/Cerci did nothing much offensively on the right flank. Cici might not be as fast as he was before but at least he still has that attacking quality. I would love to see the Cici-Rosi combo someday.

  • Arfaestnes

Aquilani was left out of Liverpool's EL squad today, with Hodgson giving the reason that he's considering loaning Aquilani out to an Italian club:

"Speaking after Liverpool's 1-0 win against Trabzonspor in the Europa League Hodgson confirmed: "At the moment we are considering loaning him to an Italian club.

"I didn't want to use him tonight in case the loan goes through because for Aquilani it's very important this year that he plays regular football, every week as the number one man on the team sheet."

The way he worded it makes it sound like they're currently in negotiation with a club, and presumably one playing in the EL.

  • ForzaRoma

napoli, they play 3-4-1-2 and he can play as one of the CMs or behind strikers
to be honest i would like to see him in napoli, they are a strong side but dont have a good bench so adding him will help them a lot, also i have nothing against them as a roma fan, derby del sole was long ago and having another strong side from central/south italy would be great

  • I think we go to this match on an equal level with inter, I think el grinta should encourage our boys especially daniele in this match whatever the formation was, i trust claudio

  • in rome time its at 20:45, in other words, the regular time you'd watch champions league matches at, depends on which country check your timing for plus/minus hours

  • mac

    Thanks You Aquismaia.

  • my pleasure

  • as roma fan

thank you so i guess it will be at 1:45 for me

  • as roma fan

can sombody tell me what time will be the super cup ??

  • mac

Any idea what time the game is being played at ET? I'm sorry if someone answered that question already, I might have missed it. Thanks!

  • sjRoman

Super Coppa partita on Rai tv questa Sabato.

  • ForzaRoma

and i think the reportedly "clash" between ranieri and adriano about the latters fitness is just a little smart move from ranieri
i cant believe adriano lost just a single kilo after his arrival, after all we saw a much "thinner" adri against olimpiakos than against brunico and that reports are just bullshit even if its from the pink paper

  • ForzaRoma

i am really trying to be optimistic, but it seems ranieri has already lost the supercoppa, when he played supersergio against grosetto, anyways i hope lobont plays,if ranieri didnt take baps and cici clearly telling them what he thinks about them in roma, then the same must be for donieber
also if he plays pizarro, who is out of form, recently recovered and not fully fit(i think everybody knows that pek is always horrible after a recovery and always lasts till the halftime ),i will blame only and only ranieri for costing us two extremely important players during the preseason and if we will have a bad start
i would go with this line-up in 4-3-1-2
    lobont
    cassetti-juan-mexes-riise
    -----------ddr----------
    perrotta----------brighi
    ---------menez-------
    adriano--------totti----

and give some orders: ddr to only do his usual defensive job and dont make a single long pass
pero and brighi to run all over the field in every direction,no doubt supersimo can do it and i remind u all that brighi was fantastic in 4-3-2-1 in 08/09,he is born to play in that kind of formation
menez to create something and get back often to recover the ball if one of the above run forward
totti play a little deeper when menez withdraws and adriano simply kill and kick everyone there
vucinic is the dark horse,he has always done well when coming in in the last 30 min and with adriano not in excellent shape and menez always bad as a sub,i think he is our only supersub now,who can change the game and that kind of option we really need in order to beat strong teams
P.S. perhaps i am only dreaming, because vuci will always start, simplicio is somehow ahead of brighi and of course ranieri will use even one-leg pizarro and waste a sub in half time or even in the first half

  • Gio

really like that formula. i would consider Vuci over Adriano, but i like your midfield with Le Show as transitional element.

  • Frank

As you already acknowledged in the end of your post, Vucinic on the bench if he's fit is not an option. Did you really mean you would prefer Mirko as a sub? We can't afford to keep a player of Mirko's quality on the bench.

I think Adriano is the first to go, if Ranieri doesn't have the balls to play with and all-out-attack formation: Menez and Mirko on the wings; Totti and the fat lazy Brazilian as Strikers. Would love to see this formation at some point, but probably Ranieri doesn't have the balls. He'll play Taddei on the right no matter what.

  • The Original Mike R

Ranieri will play that lineup at some point....that looks like the makings of a lethal 4-2-3-1. I think Taddei will play less this year to make way for Simplicio/Perrotta/Brighi. At least that is my hope (and yes, I know that all three are more central mids, I am assuming Ranieri would change formations to accommodate them)

  • ASR_Martino

    Thanks for posting that Dhaw.

I say we start Doni. Make feel he is special and we may get a better performance out of him. He was once our superkeeper.

Labont looked a bit shell-shocked after the first goal last week...

  • Dhaw

  • ForzaRoma

we have huge amount of numbers above 30 and near 100,thats not cool,i like the old style with 1-11 players who often start and are key pieces of the team and 12-25 subs and reserves

  • Dhaw

Julio fucking Sergio is officially out of the Super Cup. Blahhhhh

  • Dhaw

We lose Motta for few millions and we lose Gobbi for few millions.

    Seriously, wtf.

This season even if Totti gets injured we will be fine , if Riise gets injured then ..... ughh lets not get there now.

  • If Massimo Gobbi is/was Associazione Sportiva Roma's first choice for vice-Riise, I'm turning in my fan card and rooting for the local Vatican selection.

    He's nowhere near plan A, B or C.

  • Gio

agreed, i think the sad fact of this is, however, that even for free, with Gobbi's interest, and with plenty of time, Prade still can't engineer the trade ... and, we loose him to ... Parma?

  • Dhaw

The way they been going for anything that is free - that is a major loss for Prade & Co.

I rather have Gobbi than have NO ONE covering for Riise if he goes down with a flu.

Oh wait - Claudio Ranieri is going to play 3-4-3 - God Help us.

  • Dengelke

    Wait, we STILL have Cici?

  • michele(AS-ROMA)

LMFAO LMFAO LMFAO check out the lazie board!!! ahahaha "zarate, king of rome" ohhh man, absolutely priceless. gotta love our retarded cousins lmao

  • Bashar_ASR

"He may have endured a torrid season, but Mauro Matias Zarate is undoubtedly the King of Rome."

I love how they use words like "undoubtedly" to validate their opinions, without any regard to evidence. A lot of football fans do that. I see a ton of them stating an opinion (and a terrible one at that) and sticking the word "Fact" at the end of it. It's as if that legitimizes the argument. Moronic.

Roma is the more popular team in Rome and Totti is the 'king' of Roma. Zarate can be the king of half the Lazio fans if he wants to. Totti still wins. :)

  • michele(AS-ROMA)

imagine, actually comparing Totti to zarate LOL
