    Ciao.....piccolo coccodrillo...

  • daboy

The italians are again laughing this fellow is a dud 32percent of games plaed in 5 years i wouldnt give you 2 mill for him.
Imagine bringing in an injury plagued player to a more physical league and paying top dollar.
As like with Kewell Rafa is mad enough to persist with players nobody would give a nickle for bet you no other club has bid even half the amount he has paid i dont know why he never took Defour who will be a star.

  • FlackAttack

Aquillani player 134 Games and scored 10 goals in all competitions for AS Roma: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/p...
That leaves his game / goal average at .07%. Mexes has a scoring average of .05%!!!! That is rediculous. Alberto is supposed to be the attacking midfield out of the tandem with DDR. DDR is more defensive and Aqui is supposed to play a more offensive role. So Score / Assist. By the way in all competitions, Aqui has only had 2 assists. Now speaking from the heart and the Roman side of me, I would love this kid to stay and play up to his potential, but it doesn't make sense if we are going to get 25m for it. He will come back to Roma, and hopefully a better player. Maybe the EPL will be good for him and Roma too. Call it taking one for the team. Maybe if he gets the injury situations behing him, when he comes back he will have a lot to prove. Mark my words on this, after liverpool (if it truly goes through without incident) he will be an AS Roma player again!

  • gio

Soros would have been an awesome owner. he is philanthropic and generous as a human, plus an excellent business person and overal an underdog ... the kind of person you would love have as part of any organisation.

wish he would consider buying again but probably unlikely

  • siraj

Aquilani played 102 games for Roma scoring 9 goals

  • gio

and Palermo offside, as bad as we may get, we will still finish above you.

good luck escaping the gravity of midtable.

  • James

Pat! Give it a rest mayn! you're rubbing salt in a giant flesh wound that is growing like a cancer that refuses to go away!

  • James

Sad to see Aquilani go. But, is this really a surprise to anyone? Every year we sell before we can buy. Rosella, Bruno & Prade have cemented their status in the heart of every tifo w. their latest opus; Spalletti is also in the mix. Every year our coffers are lower either due to lack of CL, primitive marketing|positioning and Season Ticket Sales, not to mention a Stadium deal that is somewhere out there on the horizon. Are we all inclined to think that this is the Ownership entity that can complete these tasks and run a professional football club? At the end of the day, Soros doesn't look so awful in retrospect, at least there's a chance we might have been able to preserve our squad and perhaps bring in a few rather than our current model of non-sustainability in Ownership. We'll never know.

    DAJE ROMA DAJE

  • Bassy01

Just in case no one posted this Aquilani played 6 years for Roma, he played only 30 matches and scored 3 Gol. as Mimo said, if he stays healthy all season next season, we'll be so pissed, but if does as usual, play a game yes and 10 no, then we did a great deal, I was for selling him last season, and said it here, instead, he spent the whole season nursing his foot.

  • Pat

    More old quotes here :

    http://www.express-news.it/?p=...

And I repeat, they're old! If Fioranelli or some non-Roman would have bought the club, we would be without DDR and Totti, think about that! Just ask Dhaw, he has mentioned many times the likelihood of Fioranelli selling DDR. Rosella would NEVER do that to us.

  • Pat

Are these quotes the only thing Rosella haters can talk about now? It's time to give her a break. She changed her mind as did Conti and Pradé, that's allowed no?

  • £20mn hmm that's gotta get us some good players right??

  • agiamba

If Jorge Andrade could pass a medical, Aquilani will have no problems.

  • rayman

    its £20mn and not euros...

  • tribesman

Most important thing for us to have a good year, forget this aquilani bullshit. Its Totti. Totti needs to step the fuck up and play like a champ this year. Score fucking 25 goals and assist like an animal. Eat some fucking wheaties, stay healthy and score. We all suck his dick like he is Jesus and yes he is our most talented player, but people need to remember he earns more than anyone on the team. Earn the fucking paycheck

  • tribesman

As much as I would love for him to not pass the medical how many times has that actually happened. The only example that I can think of that comes to mind is:

    1. Al-Ciskhy or whatever his name is French guy playing in the portuguese league who milan tried to sign but had fucked up teeth

  • hmm so why are we all certain he will pass the medical, or are we all not certain?

  • Caroe

Exactly. He could also reject them. That's actually quite possible, unless he wants to help the club financially.

  • So if he can't pass his medical the transfer won't go? or am i missing something very important here.

  • Caroe

"Are we sure he’ll even pass his medical?"

Of course not. That's the point of medicals. They will check him thoroughly (because he has had so many injuries) and also check if his ankle surgery went fine.

  • Hey guys, I wanted to know 2 things,
How much did we sell him for?
Are we sure he'll even pass his medical?

  • mimo

and btw- i am quite sure it will be the latter.

  • mimo

Aqui to liverpool can only give rise to 2 extreme emotions next season- if he miraculously recovers and becomes fitter in the EPL, we will curse the daylights out of the club for selling him too soon. But another season on the fringes (this time at Lvpool) bcoz of injuries and we will think it was genius to roll in 20 mill on this guy who may turn 28 before he plays the majority of games in a season.

  • MTotti

Aqui can still say no, even tough its unlikely. Benitez just said Roma has allowed them to talk to Alberto. The deal is not completed. But when Zavaglia says we're flying tomorrow (today) to sign and discuss I dont know what to think.

  • jed (consecutive games without

well, i want roma and roman if you know what i mean

  • Chase

we had better send each penny of the Aquialani sale on the market...that's all Im sayin

  • Stefano

    Sad to see Aquilani go

  • jed (consecutive games without

    chico, what?

  • Jacob (WTF do we have 3 Romani

Oh and Aquilani is apparently the new Dossena. Cassetti is also close to being sold for 4 mill so we have 24 mill to spend. My opinion, offer Baptista+Menez plus 24 mill for David Villa :)

  • LorenzoRosanero

But Rio, as I said on the Palermo blog, I think Amelia is feigning disappointment - only as a result of Zamparini's comments. The management already said (not Zamparini) that Amelia had a "difficult character" which is all the more apparent when you see how Fontana was frozen out of the squad due to Amelia's insecurities. In fact, Fontana is definitely NOT a fan of Marco - he hasn't said it directly, but you can tell that Jimmy has nothing nice to say about Amelia. As you read his comments on the swap, it's obvious there's a little bad blood between them...all because Amelia couldn't handle a 41 year old challenging him for a spot.

Amelia is fine with the swap - he just doesn't want to come across as a mercenario.

  • chico

Not so unexpected. I hate them.

This club is run by Totti and the ULTRAS.

    Irti is correct.

  • Jacob (WTF do we have 3 Romani

The only player I want Madrid is the Huntelaar. VDV is rubbish.

    http://www.goal.com/en/news/10...

    Good news.

  • jed (consecutive games without

hmmm, so fantasy calcio here, ok lets go with vagner love... he can be had for 13 million supposedly lol

  • Bren

Yeah, I mean it sucks, he seemed to be the third part of the newest holy triumvirate, but at least he's out of Serie A.

That massive Roma-Madrid swap if Fionarellis deal ever went through would certainly be exciting, though I cant see DDR being included

  • george

    well said bren

  • LorenzoRosanero

Rio - trust me, I saw every game. I'm not saying he's horrible...I AM saying that he is severely overvalued due to the whole "Italy #2" thing. The only standout game he had was against Milan when he blocked the Ronaldinho penalty...other than that, during his time at Palermo, he had confidence issues. The issues were so bad that Palermo had to literally throw our #2 into the doghouse for no reason just so that Amelia wouldn't feel pressure from a 41 year old backup who was making a strong case to be starting over him. Oh, yeah, our #2 was another objective for the Roma mercato too at one point: Jimmy Fontana.

  • george

roma would be able to buy van nistelroy, its just the yearly salary we probably wouldnt be able to accommodate.

  • Bren

No big loss really, he simply couldnt stay on the field, its an emotional blow for sure, as we all hoped he'd be Roma forever like Totti and hopefully DeRossi, but on the field, how can you miss someone whos barely there?

  • george

    fadayn, dont be negative.

van nistelroy is a player totti has been asking for, for years.

van nistelroy wiht totti, vucininc, baptista and menez would make for quite a team up front.

  • george

benito, i would sell menez in a minute to get van der vaart.

you think i wouldnt want van de vaart behind totti , vucicnic and van nistelroy??? mamma mia

  • yeah george we watched and saw.

van nistelhorsefaceoy? so the team that hasn't won anything in years (and we beat along with juve and liverpool) is to be the source of our merdacato every year?

  • Benito

george, i would like to keep menez too.. same with baptista. everyone wants to get rid of baptista.. but he was clutch in a lot of instances last season. that was only his first year in serie a... give him time. menez too... so much potential with that kid. but i really want van der vaart... so id be willing to give up menez if it meant that roma would sign VDV.

  • gio

    everybody,

he is gone. it is a done deal and we have to live with it and move on.

i would blame no one but Sensi. if we had the $, would we have let him go? but it doesn't matter.

look forward. let us wait to see what happens before we get all emotional.

  • george

    benito, not bad

but i would rather see van der vaart, totti, vucinic and van nistelroy but that aint going to happen.

    so realistically i would want

baptitsa , totti, vucinic , van nistelroy, menez

  • george

    MICHEL, I AGREE 1000PERCENT

VAN NISTELROY WOULD MAKE ROMA LETHAL

TOTTI , VAN NISTELROY , BAPTISTA, VUCINIC,

    MAMMA MIA

AND FOR YOU ANTI-BAPTISTAS, WATCH AND SEE THE BEAST

  • Benito

    ------------ doni
    motta - mexes - juan - riise
    ---- de rossi - brighi
    van der vaart ------- guberti
    ------- totti -- vucinic

  • george

    BENITO, good ideas

i agree, i liked aquilani but he was always injured

i say we keep menez, totti , vucinic , baptista and sign a striker.

dont forget with motta on the right wing this year that means we can move cicinho up on the right.

    motta mexes juan riise

    brighi de rosssi

    baptista

    totti vucinic

    BLOCKBUSTER

  • LorenzoRosanero

Rio - you feel bad for Amelia and the way he was swapped with Rubinho? Please, the guy never showed an attachment to Palermo, and being a Romanista himself, literally tried to do everything he could to pimp himself to you guys. All the Roma management could do was try and offer Palermo a co-ownership for him. I mean, seriously...your club has some severe financial issues. No doubt about it.

Furthermore, the Amelia for Rubinho swap is awesome in my opinion. Amelia blew last year. I mean, his performances in the derbies were downright disgusting. He's been overhyped and overrated as Italy's #2...and I think after the New Zealand friendly, you won't see him with that #2 spot any time soon. I'm glad we got Rubinho for him. The kid might have an ounce less talent, but he was among the top 3 (statistically) last year as far as goalies go...and for what he may lack in talent, he makes up for in heart - something that Amelia NEVER showed. Good riddance.

  • MTotti

I want Ruud Van Nistelrooy. He's old, 32 soon 33 I think but that dude can't stop scoring goals. 35 shots on goal and 34 of them went in is his statistic in Real in the league I think. Would fit in good at Roma probably.

  • Benito

i liked aquilani... but lets face it - he's always injured.

i think roma should make a run for van der vaart. maybe sell menez to whatever french team wants him to help pay for van der vaart. get lugano on a free transfer. and get negredo on loan. that should be good.

  • george

    i agree rio, BLOCKBUSTER!!!1

  • george

getting 20 million euros for a player that is alwasy injured aint bad guys.

brighi, de rossi , pizarro, guberti, perrotta and taddei can hold there own in the midfield.

totti, menez, baptista, vucinic, and new signing up front

boy we need a center back bad though!!!

are there any strikers left out there???

    van nistelroy???

  • george

    the pros

    aquilani was always injured
roma have a lot of midfield players

    the cons

we all know deep down aquilani can be something special
homegrown roman going to another team doesnt speak well for romas future

oh well , good luck alberto, hope to see you in the future

now , WHO IS ROMA GONNA SIGN????

we need a center back and a primetime striker

  • Jonas are you going to the game tomorrow?

  • Hussnain [ASR]

but his new contract was like close to 4 mill euro

  • *42kGBP*

  • Rio, Jonas, Chris and Aquismaia are hoping for Suarez so I just want that Daniele Prade to hear us

  • yeah 42k a week is 2.5mill euro - our salary cap, and we don't know what he's being offered as they haven't actually negotiated yet so its just idle speculation. ... that's what i was saying earlier...he's played 27 games in 3 years @ 2.5m per annum that works out at 350,000 per game. sweet jesus.

  • Hussnain [ASR]

lol since he's going for medical tomorrow I shall try to intercept him and give him a kick on the knee just before it!

  • Jonas (from Flemish area in Be

    Suarez yes please! :D
damn that would make my summer (and Chris') a little more sunnier

  • Hussnain [ASR]

Fadayn he will not jump for the money.. after tax 85k a week is down to 42.5... doesn't sound like much money to move to a completely new team where he will be just another player

  • Jonas (from Flemish area in Be

    Pazzini yes please!

and to the people who say KA is yet to sign himself so there's a possibility he stays,he'll sign for sure, it's all false hope...
what wonders me if he does his medical at Liverpool and he doesn't succeed, the deal just collapses or what?
Cauz he just had surgery and things could go wrong during the medical,if so then that must be a sign of God,il dio himself to let KA stay at Roma :D

  • we go and go we return to SUAREZ, this is for you chris

  • lavezzi ain't moving. look away from italy. remember we are not in champs league this season, have a salary cap.

  • Zach

Hey sange go fuck yourself. I bet Roma could beat the "big" club you support any day of the week. Roma will not sell Totti or De Rossi...ever

  • Pazzini? anybody I fancy getting him or maybe simone pepe could come, remmember that kid or edinson cavani (ah I'd like that)

  • if its a matter of waiting for aquilani to agree a deal, i have the feeling he'll jump for the money.

  • Rio it seems we are the only ones here so who do you think we will get?

  • yeah, you gotta trace where strikers have moved this season and then follow the players that might be pushed out.

  • trying to go off topic, Jed Spalletti assured me that Menez is staying and he said that he is working harder I think he's hinting at playing him somewhere, I don't know how it could work out with him but maybe a 4-3-3 would be an option with brighi and pizarro helping ddr out as three midfielders while taddei and goober play totti's wing

  • ain't that money supposed to go for lugano and a striker though I don't see a striker in the market for roma and now we want palombo, greco is better than him

  • http://www.goal.com/en/news/10... see he is yet to negotiate with them

  • Lorenzo

I don't have the stomach to read the comments so if this redundant, I apologize. Is this better than foreign ownership? Is this "keeping the Roman soul?" Rosella doesn't give a flying fuck about Roma or the Roman soul. She is cash strapped, I don't care, go prostitute yourself on the street corner to make money. Don't sell a Roman cornerstone. Sell Baptista or somebody else, not Totti, DDR or Aquilani. A big FUCK you to Rosella and any and all Rosella apologists out there.....FUCK YOU!

    this is the link daniele

  • you gotta be kidding me, we want angelo palombo as aquilani's replacement hell no, I'm happy with Brighi and Pizarro

  • Daniele

    AQUISMAIA..... link?

  • http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/... - compares aquilani to the flop dossena.

kinda what we're saying , we've been waiting 7 or years now for the potential to explode but in another two seasons he'll be 'past it'. maybe the right time to sell?

  • Hussnain [ASR]

I think he's agreed.. clubs don't announce that they have made a deal with a club when a deal with the player hasn't been made first..

  • dandyfreddolibano

aquilani is not happy with the deal, its on roma news, he never wanted to leave, he turned down italian clubs last summer, just re-signed, this is not what he wanted. disgrace.

  • mac

I hope that he doesn't. What a loss. I think most agree that this Mercato would be a success if we kept all of our players and brought back the ones on loan as well as get another CB.

  • am

the last time we had an air of dominance about us, aquilani was heavily involved. i feel like we're losing the team we could have been.
this means we must be a new team now. we cant build off of who we could potentially have been two years ago. people say we have enough players in midfield, but we had only one aquilani.

  • Jonas (from Flemish area in Be

"The sale of such an important and integral player "

KA is pure class but I wouldn't call somone who played so rarely for us in the last 2 years an integral part...even Motta played more games for us since january

I wonder how DDR and Totti feel about this, after all they were the 'roman trinity'. I really hope soon there will be another primavera gem on its way (D'alessandro,Tovalieri,Pena,Brosco,Stojan,Mladen...I'm looking at you)

  • sangre

Roma are now a selling club, not a buying club. They join many other struggling clubs that simply feed the "big" clubs. Don't be surprised if DDR or Vuci are gone. It's just a business, f*ck the fans.

oh and Aquilani better toughen up or he won't play more than 12 games.

  • evaldo

btw how the fuck we are going to sign 3 quality players with 20 mill and prade pulling the trigger is beyond me.

  • Zavalgia says that Aquilani still didn't reach an agreement with Liverpool hopefully he won't accept their offer

  • evaldo

i'll cede that point caroe, that piza is a better long ball passer, but i feel like the bad outweighs the good with him and that roma shouldn't be playing long ball football anyways. we were at our best when we played fast, short, on the deck football 2 years ago.

  • dandyfreddolibano

rio are you mad? mascherano is a top 3-4 defensive mid globally, recognized by all, a hoover, a destroyer, and a selfless engine that runs all match and never stops. messi wants barca to bid 50 million for the player. the only thing hes not is de rossi, the creme fraiche of his position, how can one know so little about the sport they are posting about? jsc aka love pizarro is the cream of 'i know nihil' about calcio, rio is the silver medalist.

  • Hussnain [ASR]

Aquilani has agreed a five-year contract worth £85,000 a week, with the move dependent on a medical on Merseyside tomorrow.

What an idiot!! he's gone to Liverpool for that wage!! no one tell him there's 50% tax here :p

  • am

'Capitan Futuro' was asked to shed light on team-mate Alberto Aquilani's speculated move to Liverpool.

"I don't know the details and I don't know if the deal is real," he responded.

"If it's as it's written in the papers, we will lose a great player. His many injuries have maybe meant that he's been forgotten about a bit, but I am sure that if he leaves we will regret it.

"He's a footballer with exceptional skill and above all he grew up in Roma's academy and has a love for this shirt that you cannot buy."

  • alex

"Mascherano is overated and a scumbag"

some of you have absolutely no idea

  • rayman

FUCK!!! Can't still fucking believe it!

  • dandyfreddolibano
  • bassy01

I can't understand you people, Aquilani sell should be ok for Roma, business demand it, yet, why Aquilani? because if we don't sell him this year we'll get nothing for him next year, he is a good player, I admit it, I love him and not just because he is born in Roma, but HE NEVER PLAYS, always on the injury list, some players are just like that, I wish him well in Liverpool, maybe he will become solid player and we'll get him back in 5 years (or even two because in England they will not buy this BS of being always injured), i would not bought him just because of his history, how many games did he miss last 4 years because of the injuries?
    Peace. Forza Magica Roma

  • Joey

Dannyfreddo - agree 100%. Aqui was never handled correctly by Spal.

we are never going to win with players like taddei, perotta and baptista in the lineup. It would have been so much better to get a some money each for them, drop the dead wood for the kids that need to be playing - and keep Aqui.

This hurts. This has to really hurt DDR to see his fellow Romanista sold like this...

you just know he is going to have a breakout year. we'll be watching guys like taddei bomb horrible crosses to nobody from the wing - and Aqui is going to light it up. Aqui, Torres, Gerrard, etc should make for an interesting combo to watch.

  • Caroe

evaldo: Pizarro is more of a playmaker than Aquilani. Better long-range passing (which is Aqui's weakness). Pizarro is certainly not as dynamic as Aquilani who is BY FAR the most dynamic midfielder in Italy.

If Albe' can fix his muscle injuries he's perfect for EPL.

  • dandyfreddolibano

Aquilani and Mascherano as the 2 in 4231 will RULE the globe. Gerrard just ahead, slightly better than perrotta no?

  • Caroe

Aquilani and DDR as the '2' in 4-2-4 would rock the world.

  • Jonatan

Spalletti destroy our team to buy Baptista and sell key talented players. While you at it sell Menez and sell Andreolli. Then replace them with Lorias. When will Roma wake up.

  • evaldo

"Pizarro is much more of a paymaker than Aquilani ever will be, he is more of a box to box midfielder without the physic for it"

hahahaha. what a fuckin laugh. pizzaman for all of the good he does, does more bad. he gets knocked off the ball too easily, dwells on it with his homo halfturns, usually delivers shitty set pieces, is slow, dives constantly, cannot tackle, and is just nowhere near as dynamic as aquilani (who admittedly isn't really that dynamic when he is on the treatment table).

for christ's sake there is a reason that they are trying to buy albe and not pizzaman and it isn't spal's man crush.

  • dandyfreddolibano

and spalletti said his greatest ever achievment was winning at the bernabeau. aquilani is the reason why.
