Rosinaldo & A Plethora Of Nothingness
By: chris | July 7th, 2007So, after everybody had written off any chance of acquiring Alessandro Rosina from Torino (myself included), the rumor mill has started back up again. Only this time, there’s a positive outlook due to some recent developments. We all know Roma likes Rosinaldo, who doesn’t. We know that Luciano Spalletti loves Rosinaldo – again, who doesn’t. We also know Torino has a little crush on Mirko Vucinic. What I didn’t know, you may have – Mr. Know-It-All, was the relative unease of Rosina’s extension talks with Torino, and that his current deal runs out in the summer of 2009. It’s not like he’s going to hit the market at the stroke of midnight on Monday, but it’s still a real concern for Torino, as evinced by the complete mess going on with Christian Chivu right now. It’s obvious that trying sell when a contract will run out in a year isn’t ideal for clubs to be setting an astronomical pricetag, though it also doesn’t mean the club won’t get relative market value (see: Real Madrid’s €18m Chivu bid).
Rumors have it that Rosinaldo wants to spend one more year in the northwest corner before moving onto greener pastures, aka a bigger club and bigger paychecks. Normally I’m all for great players trying to take a ’smallerish’ club to prominence (unless Roma can grab them), and would love to see a Granata squad closer to Grande Torino, but that team is positively ancient and how the future plays out is very questionable at this point. It’s hard to blame him. Now, I still don’t think this happens right now, but I’m not going to completely rule it out like I had before. Torino and its fanbase obviously loves having Rosinaldo on the pitch, but the hierarchy also has to look at this from the business perspective. They could probably get above their reported asking price – a paltry €10m – right now, as opposed to next year when they could experience their own Chivugate. If they’ve decided that Rosinaldo may have to be offloaded eventually, they could go after a package including one of their top targets – it’s not a bad consolation prize.
From a fan’s perspective, I’m hoping Vuci sticks around because he is hugely talented and I think he will turn out to be one of the better strikers in Serie A – and if you missed yesterday’s comment thread, I’m a big fan of mostly all things Eastern European (don’t ask). But there is a huge roadblock in his way (called the European Golden Boot) and he’s not going to benefit from playing on the wing, whereas a wing tandem of Rosinaldo and Mancini is just dreamy as well as beneficial now and for the future. Then there’s the idea of Mancini, Simone Perrotta and Rosinaldo just behind Totti and Vucinic in a 3-2-3-2. Oh my. Unfortunately, it will almost definitely take some form of Mirko (loan, co-ownership or otherwise) in a deal with Torino, so it’s truly a pipe dream. But a guy can dream, right?
* – Also, if Roma somehow gets a uni with collars next year, Rosinaldo can pull of the popped collar. He might not be Eric Cantona, but he stills rocks it better than the majority of players I’ve seen attempt it in recent times. That is, if Roma gets any uniforms at all next year.
Chivugate:
The Other Stuff:
I) Minor transaction yesterday, Daniele Galloppa is now on co-ownership with Siena for a reported fee of €1.2m. Too bad, Torino was reportedly hot and heavy for the next Jesus of Nazareth. In case you missed it, somebody wrote an article a few weeks back lauding Galloppa as a slightly more gift Zizou – I bet it was his mommy. Maybe he could’ve been part of a potential Rosinaldo move? Damnit.
It is possible though that Roma could just decide to sell Torino their half, but they may have jumped the gun a little bit here.
II) Roma still wants Cicinho, but they’re waiting for the Chivu funds – if they do in fact get any. FIFA’s suuperagent, Ernesto Bronzetti, seems to think it will take Real Madrid landing Dani Alves to convince them to let go of Cici. Somebody give Sevilla a call and make this happen. I want Cici. Luciano wants Cici. We all want Cici.
By the way, not only am I pissed at Chivu for fucking over Roma, but I’m also bullshit because he’s ruining my prediction at the beginning of the summer that he would get sent to Madrid and Cicinho would make his way to Rome this summer. Even if it probably wouldn’t be in the same deal at this point (details details details). Asshole.
III) I know I’ve said I don’t like Ludovic Giuly for whatever reason. I don’t even know why anymore, I just don’t. I do think he could be a good option for the team and could come relatively cheap, as I don’t think Barca will get their €6m asking price. I will admit I haven’t seen him play much at Barcelona this season, but he has always struck me as the type of player who will lose a good amount of his effectiveness once his legs start to go, and he’s on the wrong side of 30 as we speak. I trust Spalletti when he says he would take him – I especially trust him on attackers – but I wonder how much he will impact the team with Taddei and Mauro Esposito already on the roster. I can understand a world-class winger or a talented youngster, but I’m not sure a healthy Esposito can’t be just as much of a little nuisance to defenses.
That was my polite way of saying, “ABSOLUTELY NOT.” Of course Totti wants him so…….
I bow to the great captain’s wishes. Giuly it is.
IV) If there was ever anyone who was wondering the way to my heart, Martha found it yesterday. Two words: Russian Cheerleaders.
For some odd reason, the girls of the Eastern Bloc get to me, it’s a certain je ne sais quoi that I can never wrap my mind around. I really don’t know what it is. And I may have to take up Razvan’s invitation of checking out the, um, Romanian “talent” some day. Because I’ll be damned if I discriminate, and Romanian girls need love too.
I know this has nothing to do with Roma, but I don’t care. It’s a slow news day. And if a certain girlfriend of mine should happen to come across this, she can expect some jewelry in the near future. But I won’t be holding my breath, because she’ll read any blog about who’s fucking who at the moment but she won’t even give mine a glance anymore. I’m just not appreciated.
V) Alright, I’m making a ruling right now. ‘Hot as balls’ is valid terminology to describe a man’s good-lookingness as long as ‘hot as vulva’ can be used to describe a sexy woman.
Yeah, I didn’t think so. (Apologies for any mental images that may conjure up)
For anyone who missed yesterday’s debate, go to the Sergio Ramos v Timo Kunert Hair Debate page, otherwise this could be very very awkward.
VI) Inter have reportedly signed another South American defender yesterday, a certain Nelson Rivas. That’s nice, I’d highly doubt he would kill any Chivu deal, but this is what I found funny from c4:
“As Inter can only register one more non-EU player.”
You mean they actually still had a non-EU spot available? With the 73 South Americans (Actually I counted no less than 14 + 2 out on loan last year) on that roster, the lot of them actually have EU passports? You’re shitting me. They must’ve got their passports from Alvaro Recoba.
VII) Happy 23rd to Alberto Aquilani. Now wish for something big to happen, because this mercato is getting boooooring.

I’ve been all about the Eastern Bloc ladies for many years. It’s like when the wall came down, a lava flow of hotness reached the west. Love em. We absolutely need a road trip. I’ve heard Estonia is the new Puerto Vallarta.
Oh, and Aquilinho is 23. Awesome for him and I think that is a good age for the first team.

That’s it, it’s official. The Offside needs to sponsor an Easter European Group Road Trip. Maybe we could film a documentary or something to make some money off of this.
“I’ve heard Estonia is the new Puerto Vallarta.”
Priceless. I’m going to start telling random people that today. Like the girl at Dunkin Donuts, or the guy at the hardware store.
I saw a pic of an Estonian girl while flipping through one of those model catalogs yesterday, and she was surprisingly smokin.

I’m with you Chris. I do NOT want Vuci to go. Not only is he very talanted and young and he did not get the proper chance last year coming off his injury, but he is our only valid alternative to Totti up front and there is NO WAY we can expect Totti to play in every SERIE A and CL game. That would be ludicrous. We need a very good alternative to play in approx 1/3 of Serie A games and all of Coppa games. I still don’t understand why we sold 1/2 of Galloppa if we are serious about trying to get Rosina. Just makes NO sense!!!

Also, have you read about Roma being interested in not only Guily but also Belletti and Silvinho from Barca? Could that possibly be true? Those guys were all offered as part of a potential Chivu deal and we didn’t want any of them. Now we want them?

For what it’s worth, I have a male friend visiting who feels “hot as balls” is an odd expression, but only because “the whole reason they’re outside is so they stay cool.” So, you know. File that away.
I find myself surprisingly stressed out about the Rosina-to-Roma thing — as I think I’ve said over at the Italy site about 90 times, I really, really want him to either stay at Torino or go to a second tier(ish) club so he can become king of the world there, and not always play second banana to some local icon, like Totti or DDR.
And I’m totally in for the Easter Bloc road trip, just don’t expect me to contribute to the Whorage fund.

Happy birthday Aquilaninho!!! You’re the present the future!!! I wish you to never get injured and stay in rome (maybe lazio:D)forever!!!
ok my dream team ( all we can afford)it’s changed in fact because i (as you chris) thought it’s all over with rosinaldo
doni ( no matter who cause curci’s going)
panucci mexes juan tonetto ( casetti ferarri someone like ferarri modesto)
de rossi aqua ( pizarro barusso)
mancini perotta taddei (semioli rosinaldo esposito)
totti( vucinic)
As i see spaletti is heading towards this. and i noticed some facts in this squad
1Very much young players see – mex derossi aquilaninho baruso vucinic modesto rosinaldo.
2But this doesn’t means a lack of expiriency – pan tonetto totti perotta.
3 many italians – 12 italians in 23 is a dream for every italian team. and none of this italian is low class all are great ( maybe casetti and modesto ).
4can you see our team becomes symmetric defence flangs – experienced italians ( and also italians on backup)
midfield – 2young italians as def. midfield and two braziliano on wings( both the same age) and backup nearly sameaged italians)))
5As you can see roma is strongly thinking about future
rosina – future sub for perrotta vuci – for capitano ( oh it will be so difficult and maybe impossible) modesto for tonetto aqui for pizarro. It means that they will learn playing with expirienced partners and then become expirienced themselve.
Great politics from sensi i dream and hope it will be that way.
Ohh i forgot about chivu. So i advise to do this like me
Forza roma!!!Posted from

Lorenzo, I saw that with Belletti and Sylvinho, I don’t know how legitimate it is. They have older fullbacks who aren’t too far away in class from those two right now., I thought the idea was to get younger. As far as not including players in a deal, I have no idea why they won’t consider it. My first thought was due to being able to pay for guys like Pizarro and Cicinho in installments, but they’ll likely get installments for Chivu anyway. My best bet is maybe they feel they can get better value for players, meaning get them cheaper, when it’s not part of another deal. If Monty goes, I’d expect some very very cheap older striker to come in to back up in case Vuci needs to get moved for Rosina last minute (Rigano?)
I like that team and the look to the future, bili. The only thing is I doubt they would get Rosinaldo and Semioli, and if they get one, they will likely start.
Martha, I’m really not sure how I feel about that line of thinking. I’m not sure I want to think about it either. That seems to be a common theme with your comments…….
As for an Eastern Bloc roadtrip, I’m marking down Russia, Ukraine, Romania and, though not FSB, Croatia.

It wouldn’t make sense to get Belletti, I’d understand that move if we had a young promising RB in that role and we wanted to bring in an experienced vet who could show him the ropes for an year or two, but we already have two 30+ y/o right backs! We should sell Cassetti and get a beastly still-young-but-mature RB. Man, Cicinho would be perfect.
P.S. Siena is in serie A Chris!

Victor Becali: “La Roma deve venire in ginocchio dall’Inter e cercare di vendere Chivu.”
Oh. My. God.
Now Roma should fucking kneel before and BEG Inter to allow them to sell Chivu to those greedy fucks? Are you fucking kidding me?
This has gotten so far out of hand. Chivu might as well be Laziale now.

As far as I’m concerned Chivu IS a Laziale now. He’s right up there next to Di Canio for all I could care. Trasnfer guru Ernesto Bronzetti said that he didn’t think Cicinho would end up coming to Roma since Salgado has been transfer listed for Real. BUY DANI ALVES PLEASE SO WE CAN GIVE CICINHO A NEW HOME!!! And in regards to the eastern european trip – i’m new to this blog, but I live in Denmark not far away, so i’ll hijack a vehicle and come see you all hehe!

roma should report inter to fifa for illegally talking to chivu. they got away with suazo, but if they do it for the second time so openly, roma better take this to the top.
inter, classless motherfucks…

Here is the entire translation of the comments by Chivu’s agents, as reported in today’s Il Messaggero:
Now Roma is in trouble. You can’t mess with the Becali family.
Predrag Mijatovic told us Chivu would receive a salary of 5.2 million Euros per season, net. It was only later that he admitted to us that it was 5.2 million Euros, gross. Inter is offering Chivu 5 million Euros per season, net: real money. Mijatovic wanted to prove to Real Madrid’s ownership that he is valuable to them; he wanted to convince Ramon Calderon with a big splash in the transfer market, but he didn’t figure on us. Barcelona? They were offering very little, both to Roma and to Chivu.
Roma needs to get down on its knees in front of Massimo Moratti and agree to sell Chivu to Inter. I am sure that Chivu will belong to Inter by the time their training camp starts in Sardinia. Chivu will not play for Real Madrid; he will only play for Inter. Roma tried to start a bidding war for his services, and that is just not right. I don’t know why they behaved like that, but Chivu has made up his mind.
WHAT THE… SOMEBODY PLEASE SHOOT THE BECALI BROTHERS ALREADY!!!

What is this, the fucking Godfather? Don Becali and his bitch Chivu deserve to be pushed off a car into oncoming Roman traffic. Seriously though, I hope we sell Jud…I mean Chivu to Inter and he gets a season-ending injury right before the season starts. Well, maybe after the Supercoppa so Barusso can do what he’s gotta do.
Anyway, it seems as though Roma wants to get Belletti/Sylvinho next year, on a free transfer. They asked Barca permission to speak with the players for an eventual contract. It even said something about letting Belletti go this year, I would imagine on a free, but not Sylvinho seeing as they sold Van Bronchorst to Feyenoord.

I think Roma ought to assess Torino’s interest in Obina. If they rate him high and would be interested in him as part of a Rosina deal, then I would accept 14 mln plus ALL of Obina from Inter for Chivu. Then send 1/2 Obina and 1/2 Galloppa to Torino plus 10 mln for Rosina. That would be a great offer IMO.
Posted from

Idk, that would equal to about 13m euros, he costs 10-11. I dont think Inter would give all of Obinna away, the offer could be 14-15m plus half of him though. I also don’t think Roma wants to give their last half of Galloppa away, they want to give him at least one more “test” year before making any final decisions on him.
We must get Rosina in some way though. I am not exaggerating when I say this kid is one of the best dribblers I have ever seen. Some of his drives start from deep in Torino’s half and he takes the ball all the way to the opponent’s goal before dishing out an assist or scoring himself, usually this drive involves two or three defenders clinging desperately on to his shirt. He’s like a frigging train, if you haven’t seen what he can do go on youtube and check him out. Here’s a video of what happens when you put him in a field with Aquilani: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dD12VUaRCAPosted from

On Real: Sevilla will start talking if they offer 30 million euros for Alves. I’m not sure if Real are willing to pay that much.
On Belletti/Sylvinho/Giuly – Belletti’s definitely leaving (he’s really pissed at the club, and probably won’t cost much), Sylvinho’s almost definitely staying, and Giuly’s currently having a fit at the club because he wants to be given a free transfer.
He was pretty good in the 20 or so games he got to play (when Messi was injured) in 06-07, though. The legs aren’t going yet.

So if I understand right Barca are willing to let Belletti go free and maybe even Giuly but not Silvinho. Belleti and Giuly should be both consideredm they have experience in the highest level and since they’re free. Good back-ups, nothing more.
Giuly situation also depends whether we’ll get Semioli or Rosina. If Vucinic goes on loan Giuly is a must since he can play as striker too. Lets see what Prade and Sensi will do.PS! About the Eastern Bloc trip. I’ll be more then glad to show you around in Tallinn(capital of Estonia)when you’re here.

Il Romanista has something on their cover that says SUSPENDED and there is a picture of Chivu or something. Any idea what’s up with that?

it has nothing to do with Chivu, Bashar. Its about stadio Olimpico and the guy in the back is just a guy, not Chivu
Posted from

No, that’s Chivu. He’s wearing a shirt that says suspended and IlRomanista means it to say that the transaction is stuck. On top it says: Chivu is in Romania, between reflections and new passions (his gf), and on the side it says how Becali supposedly would cash in 4 mill from Moratti if Chivu goes to Inter, but that Real wants to make them one more offer.

Yup, I’m from Estonia. British single boys have discovered Estonia already. There are quite a lot British boys here in the week-ends. Estonia is the “next Puerto Vallarta”. A great place with all the main things close to each other.
Coming from China might be difficult but not impossible. Keep faith, mate!
