Roma v Inter: Delayed Liveblog

By: chris | February 27th, 2008

roma_celebrates_the_associated_pres1.jpgI rolled in a few minutes after the game started from driving halfway cross the country in two days to…………. FRAAAAAAAAAANCESCO.

Unreal.

Il Grande Capitano beats Chivu for the goal and that’s where we stand right now at half-time.

Doni looks unfazed.
Vuci looks good.
Pizarro sucks ass.
DDR looks like DDR.
Simone looks vintage.

Helluva first half start.

I’d first of all like to thank Cristian Chivu for signing with Inter over the summer. It’s nice to see his Big Game self watch his man score goals in another shirt. Forza Big Game Chivu!

Second, I’d like to say I would’ve done the first half but got caught in a bad, bad storm last night. You know your day has been terrible when you utter the words “Oh thank god there’s a La Quinta.”…and mean it. (For the record, I would’ve said the same about a Super 8 or whatever flea bag motel life decided to throw at me.)

Second Half….

Sauzo is on and we’re off (for Dejan Stankybitch)

Totti pgets taken down at the edge of the box, nothin doing. Vuci plays it for naught.

47′ Inter get possession, Judas Figo on the foul. Back to Roma. Lulu and Amantino warming up.

48′ taddei looking like a striker in the box. Puts it wide.

Simone and Rodrigo….Vieira steals it, pass through the middle picked up by the good guys.

49′ Cassetti wards off Figo well for the Roma gk. Spalleti looking serene. Of course, he’s at the San Siro. His home away from home.

Burdisso with the yellow. He sucks. (That’s official, btw.)

Suazo’s offside. Well shit, if Crespo can beat the back line so can’t a one legged Suazo. Good thing he doesn’t know that.

53′ Figo with a Nedved-esque dive. Typical. Gk Roma.

54′ Taddei with some trickeration and gets fouled by Crespo who is caught playing LB. That’s good.

Vuci with a shot over.

55′ You know, for the top two teams in Serie A, some of this passing has been horrid.

Figo knoocks a ball towards Pluto, joining half of Massimo Oddo’s Azzurri crosses in orbit.

Taddei kicks Vieira’s bum, gets a yellow. Well worth it.

Are you fuckin’ kidding me? Balotelli?

For Cambiasso. Mancio’s going for the win.

Totti with some chicanery, Taddei with some attempted chicanery. Roma wins back possession….Taddei flicks it wide. Shyte. That would’ve been a beauty.

King Berto’s on for David. Thank. Christ.

Figo out for Pele, who is also not Italian. Shocker.

61′ Inter gets a corner with their basketball team on the ppitch…..cleared out.

Balotelli plays like a 17yo and clips Totti about 9 times. FK Roma.

Maxwell is down….Inter has used all 3 subs. Grande Mancio!

Inter looking increasingly likely to continue with 10. 3 of whom are strikers.

Totti weakly hits one to Cesar.

65′ Ferrari with some welcomed defending on Suazo….Maxwell still out.

Alberto! Denied by JC.

Totti with brilliance. Berto! Buddy!

67′ Chivu is getting a farkin clinic from Totti today.

Maxwell being stretchered off. Roberto Mancini is genius. Genius.

Tadddei down………

Back up. Tonetto with a nice run. Aquilani staying involved. Roma stringing some passes. The difference has beccome obvious now.

Crespo goes down exceptionally easy iin the box. Taddei is looking a little sore. He may be the 3rd sub.

Vucinic is brilliance. Lays it off to Perrotta who saves Simone’s shot. What ball play from Vuci.

King Berto gets a shot deflected wide, quick corner….another corner for Roma. KA target practice right now.

74′ Burdisso fouls Totti, gets livid. Looverly. FK Roma…..Vuci on it….Roma throw.

Inter is being forced to it back and defend.Come on fellas, one more……

Mirko Vucinic has been utterly fantastic today.

DDR shoots one wide. One of these, right?

I have no fingernails left. FYI.

76′ Roma sub……Vuci off? Hmmm….for Giuly. An injection of pace and electricity, for sure. Spal’s not fucking around.

LG involved right way….Aqui fires over the bar. Alright, maybe it’s time to ease off the trigger a little.

79′ Roma win a throw, controlling possession smartly.

80′ The FSC guy just called Moratti “classy”. Automatic nomination for “dumbest commentator of the year”.

Mexes gets yellow - believe he’s out for Parma.

Mexes is off…..fuck.

God, here we go.

Goal kick Roma. Now they just need to hang on. JUAN baby….about to come on.

Taddeei coming off.

There is no question who the best player on the pitch is: Totti.

86th minute. Inter getting some chances.

DONIEBER. What a fuckin legend. Brilliant does not even begin to describe that save. Pushing Crespo’s header over the bar.

Zanetti. 1-1.

I still haven’t seen Philou’s foul for the red. God.

4mins.

Shoving breaking out.

The difference between the scudetto this year? 2 Roma red cards via Frenchmen.

Zanetti with an elbow on Cassetti. Foul on Marco, of course.

Rosetti has lost control of the match. Yellow for Perrotta.

Game. 1-1. This one’s on Philou’s red. Two red cards define the season. Wonderful.

Bush league club? Is that a north american statement?

Our captain and greatest ever player was considered the gentleman of italian football.

mexas is a hot head. love the guy but he needs to ck his temper.

maybe on a positive side roma keep their heads in check, not to high in the clouds going into the real madrid game. we should have a pissed off attitude ready to salvage our season by the only means left. THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUEEEE. i want it

forza roma, its hard to keep gettin depressed with roma, its at a point now that u just expect shitt to go wrong thats gonna make it so much more sweet when we finaly win something meaningful

I remember the 2-3 loss. Almost another Roma collapse under pressure.

I recalled it especially when you collapsed again after being up 3-0 in the supercoppa.

Nice picture of Spalletti doing post interview tonight on sky italia:

yes, its called humility, graziani. probably best manager to ever grace this game. i know humility is foreign concept to intermerda.

i think i have a similar picture on my hard drive of minchia doing the same thing to his hairdresser.

    Well, I’m riled.

Roma talk so much yang about Inter it’s remarkable. I’m reacting, and I’m ashamed to have stooped.

You failed tonight and don’t look in the mirror. You blame the ref, the air in milan, the pitch, Moratti, the lot.

    I don’t understand that.

I think Chris said it best, 2 red cards changed the season. We would have won both games and be in first. How can Graziani say Inter didn’t think they could beat Liverpool? There main goal for the season was to win the Champions League, and when Liverpool knocks them out in 2 weeks Mancini may get fired for it

fuckkkkk that was a bullshit call on mexes. but we didnt win this game because he did wat we almost always do: we never get that fuckin 2nd goal that would seal up the game for us. Until were stronger mentaly and quit fucking around and get scored on in the final minutes we will never win anthing.

After reviewing the video on YouTube, I have to retract my anger at Mexes and his fouls. From another angle, not as aggressive as I thought while watching the game.

The reality is that regardless of that send-off, I’m reminded of what Chris said post-Samp game: when there’s blood in the water, sometimes we can’t tell if it’s us or the other team and panic. In spite of my “ciao scudetto” in the other thread, we’ll see what happens.

Two more months, and regardless, if we don’t choke, we’ll still have a seat for CL next season.

To everyone who’s come out of the woodwork to talk shit, newcomer trolls or stalker-licious losers, thanks. You’ve done wonders to spike traffic and prove that this is perhaps the most vibrant community on The Offside.

You know, for they people who really dislike me (two in particular), you’d think they’d realize they’re doing nothing but helping. I’m surprised people haven’t mentioned this earlier.

That’s the reason they are showing up now. This community has been growing so quickly since I found it during the summer. Every post there were new names appearing and if the flags are to be trusted people from different corners of the globe. It speaks volumes about this blog and about the club we all passionately follow. Unfortunately no matter what type of site you are on the internet is crawling with trolls. We’ve always had good natured passionate discussions here. If they want to come in and spoil the party, oh well. Just try to ignore them.
