Rolling Back The Years; Or: Welcome Back Fab Quags Rumors

Tottenham 5 – Roma 0; Or: Back On Track

Whew. I was starting to get worried for a minute there. I though the boys were going to have a decent preseason and screw the whole campaign. Now like last season – right before that hot start – they’ve done gone and gotten hammered by the opposition and we’re back on track. Like Juve last year, it’s 5 in the back of the net and everything is butterflies and cupcakes and unicorns again. Group hug.

And once again, just let me say…..

THREE F@#$ING BRAZILIAN KEEPERS?!?!?!?!

We’re all going to be up for canonization at the end of the year, I’m sure of it.

Quags

I’m getting flashbacks to last summer. The incessantly tantalizing quotes and viciously lecherous suggestions of life as giallorosso for Mr. Bullshit Goal and the subsequent impact it had on my life. The back and forth hemming and hawing, the drenching night sweats amidst tangled sheets, the visions of Alessandro Rosina dancing through my dreams.

And yet I still cannot answer two questions:

i. Is Fab Quags legit?
ii. Do I want him in Rome?

The two questions can potentially be answered independently, but they do pretty much go hand in hand. If he’s legit and going to at least maintain his last two years of productivity, if not improve upon them, for a big club, not a UEFA Cup squad….damn, what a purchase. If not? Say hello to a way, way, way more expensive Mauro Esposito – Napoletano and all.

For now? The answer is I can’t see a reason why he isn’t worth a shot. There are few more Serie A tested players capable of scoring a dozen plus goals from the wing, and absolutely nobody who forces more soiled undies for keepers once they enter within 45 yards. If he’s productive, how do you think anyone, even Gigi Buffon, would like to see an attacking line like this coming at them:

Totti
Vucinic-Baptista-Quagliarella.

Speaking of soiled undies, I’ll be right back.

If we enter into the rumor using that dirty five letter word logic, it’s a no go. Pietro Leonardi, nuck futter that he is, would rather sell Fab Quags to FC Jupiter’s 3rd Moon for the comely price of Hepatitis C than Roma.

“A transfer of Fabio to Trigoria? I don’t want to comment this rumour which appeared in the press,” declared the general director to Romanews.eu, clearly annoyed with this speculation.

From my limited experience, he’d be annoyed were Monica Bellucci to show up nude on his doorstep towing wheelbarrows full of cash, so we can’t really take much from that.

But even if Quags were to hit the market, Rosella & Co. would probably have to offer up the world and a half to pry him from Udine. Something tells me the €10m plus Mauro Esposito and Marco Andreolli (co-ownership at worst I hope) won’t get it done – even though it is a steep price. Lyon had €15m turned down and they’re outside the league, so logic (once again, that dirty word) dictates a team that has drawn Leonardi’s ire in the past while also within the same division will have to properly Vaseline up before any type of negotiations. So we’ll see. Tantalizing, but complicated.

Now watch some legendary YouTubes of Fab Quags as you forget Mutu and Huntelaar and Silva and very big name linked this summer, then wait for your dreams to be invaded by Mr. Bullshit Goal himself.

Mercato Nuggets

La Bestia is but a mere formality, and all that’s needed are for the final particulars to be put into place over the next few days, or even week. Whatever. Let’s just say Rosella & co. look to have essentially traded a gifted but wildly inconsistent, pouty and lazy Brazilian attacker for a…..gifted, productive and hard working Brazilian attacker. Not bad, eh?

Malouda is still supposedly the first choice. @#$% !&?* #&@%! *&%#. That is all.

David Suazo is the back up plan should all the other options fall apart. I can think of much worse. Like last year’s Mancini.

Apologies for the lack of updates, I’ve had family in town among other things. Regular service resuming within a couple day.

from what i read, Muslim women fans (of which there are apparently plenty of) should not be viewing half naked men. i do not know if there is any truth to it but it sounds ridiculous to me

The point is everyone needs to try to bitch a little less here. I’m not trying to single anyone out, I just want us to be a little more positive going into the season.

can’t always underestimate fan power – look what the fans did with Stankovic, Vieri, etc.

I agree with David. The issue here is not that I hate Baptista. On the contrary.. I’ve been wanting him to come for a while now. 3 years ago we could only dream of signing a player like that.

My issue is that he knows that Roma have rules in place and before even arriving he thinks he is above those rules. (All this of course is if the reports are true)

some good signings, like everyone else already has, would bring some positivity

i agree that the ire does nothing to help the situation, but nothing we say on this page will change anything that goes on in the real world – this is all just the average man’s opinions.
at this point i think we are all intitled to a little frustration though

Now if he was Messi, Ronaldinho, Robinho, Trezeguet, Shevchenko or a player of that caliber then maybe.. Because they’ve proven themselves. But in that case, if we had any chance of landing players like that then I’m sure Roma would be more than willing to fork over the money if we had it.

I have to admit that I am getting frustrated. Not so much because of the Tottenham game. It’s because this should have been a done deal 4 weeks ago when Baptista was reaching out to us to rescue him from the Madrid bench. We should be able to work on 2 or 3 deals at once. If the meetings are every 3 days or a week then they can multitask and work on other deals in between.

Baptista should have been here weeks ago, and we should be talking about done deals for the likes of Suazo, Menez, etc…

th fact that this page exists and that we all contribute (without getting paid) proves that we have a passion that drives us – passion greater than money.
we all have the same love and, even though we may differ in opinion, we all want the same thing. we wan the best for our team and for our players to have a chance, especially with all the hard work they put in.

often this seems very different from the Sensi perspective and we get frustrated, but rightfully so. it is only because we really care.
    Forza Roma

Speaking of Sensi.. Franco was admitted to the hospital recently with breathing problems. Rosella says he’s fine and strong though. Thank God.

Gio, Bashar, I agree with everything the two of you just said. I think everyone is frustrated. My head has been hurting since the thing with that duchebag Mutu a couple of weeks ago. I just want everyone to take a step back and remember why we love this team. I’m pretty sure it’s not because of the big money signings. The mercato will work itself out (hopefully). Forza Roma!

I think you hit the nail on the head bashar, if he’s really a gamer, hed want to go where he would play regularly for the 2.5 instead of keeping the Real salary and not even seeing the field….man this is getting annoying.

this is just a random thought… i love alberto, i think he is amazing BUT I think i would be willing to part ways if we got giovinco or dessenna from samp…. anyone agree with me, and dont get me wrong, aqui is one of my favorite players but he seems to be lacking consistency

I would agree with you Spencer, but the only proof we have so far is really last season, which he missed a few games, and this preseason. I dont want to judge him on the preseason because its just that, pre-season, and hes not the only one playing horribly at the moment. I would give him one more year and hopefully he will stay healthy and see how he really plays. I hope this season he has a starting spot. enough of the little piz-man-boy.

Man Roma knows how to fuck up a transfer. You guys should have alot of money laying around PAY someone. It seems as if your management wants to make a trip to the lower levels of Serie A or maybe B instead of CL.

Spence – He just needs to stay healthy. And he needs to be played iun the middle of the park next to his fratello Danielino.

Typical Roma fans on this blog: When you’re linked with a player, no matter how crap they are, you always get excited and try to find the best Youtube clips out there.
When the transfer fails, you say they’re crap anyway and we’d be better off without them.

Maybe that’s also Prade’s attitude, and that ould be the very reason we’re having this non-mercato.
