Juve: No Totti, No Party

By: chris | March 20th, 2009

Ladies and gentleman, this is the most depressing call up squad you’ll ever see.

2 CHRISTIAN PANUCCI
5 PHILIPPE MEXES
9 MIRKO VUCINIC
14 FILIPE GOMES RIBEIRO
15 SIMONE LORIA
17 JOHN ARNE RIISE
19 JULIO CESAR BAPTISTA
22 MAX TONETTO
23 VINCENZO MONTELLA
24 JEREMY MENEZ
25 GUILHERME DE MORAIS GUSMAO ARTUR
27 JULIO SERGIO BERTAGNOLI
32 DONIEBER ALEXANDER MARANGON (DONI)
33 MATTEO BRIGHI
36 RICCARDO BROSCO*
37 ALESSANDRO CRESCENZI*
38 MARCO D’ALESSANDRO*
39 ADRIAN STOJAN*
40 ALESSANDRO MALOMO*
41 SEBASTIAN MLADEN*

* – Primavera player. At least five will play some part – either on the bench or on the pitch.

Indisponibili: Cicinho, Juan, Cassetti, Perrotta, Taddei, Totti e Aquilani. Squalificati: Diamoutene, Motta, De Rossi e Pizarro.

UPDATE:
DDR’s appeal was turned down and he’s still suspended tomorrow, but he avoided another suspension for that whole “Inter are cheaters” thing – just a €20k fine. Oh, and Balotelli wasn’t suspended for his theatrics. No surprise there.

Projected Lineup:

Doni
Cassetti, Juan, Diamoutene, Motta
Taddei, DDR, Perrotta
Pizarro, Aquilani
Totti

Oh…wait…

Plus Andreolli from Sassuolo. Plus Okaka and Curci. I’d consider selling Perrotta at years end, to Lyon and get the 7-8 mill for him and secure Motta.

I remember big Ron always used to get well excited by Rosi.. though he used to call him Rossi! He is more of a winger though rather then a central player like Perotta.

    Rosi plays RB/RW no? Perrotta’s a CM/AM
I think Perrotta still has one good year in him if he stays healthy.Brighi and DDR do a lot of work now so he could play more attack minded but we all know he loves to run like a madman all over the field.

about 7 hours untill the ‘medical derby’,sorry the ‘hospital open’…aaargh damnit I mean the Juve game ;)

Let the kids play. I know what is at stake, and I understand how everyone (and rightfully so) is just a skoshe skeptical about giving one of the prima’s a full debut when we are chasing a CL spot; but I am all for it. The kids wouldn’t have been called if they didn’t have talent. And perhaps this is a blessing in disguise because it finally forces Spalletti into utilizing these players when he has no other alternatives. . .

BTW, there was a good article on C4 Football Italia, C4 was talking with JAR on this same very subject . . .

    ‘Riise sees opportunity in Crisis’

John Arne Riise thinks Roma being ‘forced’ to play youngsters against Juventus tonight could benefit the club.
“There will be many stars missing, but it will remain a wonderful match between two teams battling for their respective targets,” said the Norwegian.
The Giallorossi are without Francesco Totti, Alberto Aquilani, Simone Perrotta, Cicinho, Juan, Marco Cassetti and Rodrigo Taddei due to injury.
On top of that there are four suspended players – Daniele De Rossi, David Pizarro, Souleymane Diamoutene and Marco Motta.
This has prompted Coach Luciano Spalletti to call up six youth team players – Riccardo Brosco, Alessandro Crescenzi, Marco D’Alessandro, Adrian Stojan, Alessandro Malomo and Sebastian Mladen.
“I’d like to point out that D’Alessandro, Brosco and Filipe are young, but have great technique. In Italy they prefer to field players out of position rather than launch youngsters.
“I do not agree with that approach. If they don’t play, then they cannot gain experience. If you are talented, then you have what it takes at 18.”
This is one of the reasons Riise feels the Serie A sides have struggled in recent years against the Premier League, even though the styles have different things to offer.
“In England you run for 90 minutes, whereas here you have time to lift your head and that is why you see greater technique and quality of football,” added the former Liverpool man.

    +1
Messi wouldn’t blossom that wonderfully under Spaletti.

lol yeah he wouldn’t.. tell you what though if we had Wenger these kids would all have been ready for this game as they would have had experience playing in other matches. That’s where Spaletti is at fault, I know there are a lot of injuries and no one could have planned for this but he could have gave some players some debuts over the last few seasons to settle their nerves.

I did a bad thing. I bought an aquilani jersey coming out of the stadium after the arsenal game. Should i add it to my collection of (and I think you’ll see a theme here) Toni’s Fiorentina, Cassano’s Madrid and Ronaldo’s Milan jerseys or should i send it away before the curse strikes?

Isn’t exactly a complete disaster if Loria plays, Del Piero+Trez aren’t very fast. If Iaquinta’s on, he might have issues though.
