Inter +1: Making Calciopoli Look Like Amateur Hour Since 2007.

Inter +1 v Roma

There’s really no point in writing anything here because Serie A still strives for wrestling’s levels of legitimacy. Adriano handball to win in the Milan derby? Oh sure. Was he suspended as was Gilardino for the exact same infringement? Of course not. So what will happen Sunday? Inter will win via a penalty after an Adriano dive in the box – I think he’s done that before – and the rest of Italia will saunter back in bewilderment as the biggest joke in world football continues their reign of palm-greasing. Sounds fun.

(The videos keep popping out of the woodwork. Quite nice, isn’t it?)

That and I’m moving right about….looking around…..now, actually. Will have something going after I assume the throne of my new lair – midweek, maybe. For now, check out Andrea’s Football Italiano preview.

Squad Future Injury List

5 PHILIPPE MEXES
7 DAVID MARCELO CORTES PIZARRO
9 MIRKO VUCINIC
10 FRANCESCO TOTTI
11 RODRIGO FERRANTE TADDEI
13 MARCO MOTTA
14 FILIPE
16 DANIELE DE ROSSI
17 JOHN ARNE RIISE

21 SOUYMANE DIAMOUTENE
23 VINCENZO MONTELLA
24 JEREMY MENEZ

32 DONIEBER ALEXANDER MARANGON (DONI)
33 MATTEO BRIGHI
40 ALESSANDRO MALOMO

Indisponibili : Pipolo , Cassetti, Aquilani, Perrotta, Tonetto, Juan, Loria

Projected XI

Doni
Motta, Mexes, Panucci?, Riise

I have no idea and quite frankly I don’t want to think about it, because half that lineup is banged up as it is – and those are the healthier options.

    Fadayn.

Glad to hear you gotta ticket. I got one a few weeks ago for $150 (+$25 S&H) via a ticket website my friend told me about. Pretty good deal.

And my guide here in Rome is tryin to hook me up with Udinese tickets. Hopefully not too expensive. Managed to get my hands on the Inter-Roma tix for $60 and managed to get in amazing position in the Roma Ultras section.

    Fadayn, we should meet up!

@ Alex. I’m not defending diving as upright or honest. I’m just stating the facts: diving is a part ( a pretty big part) of the game. If you think that it’s reserved for only cheating bastards then you must think that our beloved Roma as well as every other footballer is a cheating bastard. I am definitely NOT defending Balotelli or diving in the box, however drawing a fould or going down when you have the oppurtunity to get a nice set piece is expected, it’s smart. Like I said before though the ref has to be able to tell an obvious dive (Balotelli) from an absolute definite PK (Vucinic in the Coppa). The ref must see things Black and White, not Black and Blue!

Ooof.. Conti tearing into Mourinho.. just like everyone else has done this season.. Mourinho won’t take this quietly and this argument will not be over anytime soon.

Mourinho suggesting they the media focused on the bullshit penalty to hide the fact “Roma will end the campaign without a trophy” is idiotic. We are in the same exact position trophy wise after the game as we were a month ago.

Sorry, but I don’t think that’s smart football.Players do get away with it much of the time but so what.Football is showbusiness but it is also a sport. If all the spirit of that core vanishes then we might as well go to the movies. Their set pieces we know are fake while the playing field still holds some hope for sportsmanship and fair play.

Juve’s management might criticize someone, but this is the first time I’ve seen an official press release about it.

    Official notice by the club
After having carefully read through the serious declarations made by the Inter coach, Juventus has expressed it’s amazement and indignation and is asking Inter to disassociate itself publicly of such declarations. With his declarations, the Inter coach has shown disrespect not only towards Juventus and it’s 14 million supporters but towards all of Italian football. Instead of fueling such a dangerous culture of suspicions, the club’s representatives have the duty to show education and a sense of responsability – before, during and after the matches – in order to sustain the evolution of Italian football and it’s international image.

Inter made an official statement on their web site backing Mourinho’s words. (the ones about Juve)

He had no business saying what he did about Spalletti – that was a personal comment, and Spalletti said nothing about Mourinho, just stated that Inter have had the ref decisions go for them against us at San Siro for four years.

    Lazio goal.

Well, I can understand why Mourinho and Moratti get along, as they both manage to be arrogant and yet childish at the same time.

Mourinho complains about the media manipulation (ironic, really) but if he had not reignited the fire with his comments today, things would have quieted down — until the next call goes wrongly their way.

If it was 1 decision I would be quiet. After Adriano’s dive I just wanted him to be banned and he was. Mexes’ two yellow cards were both terrible decisions and if the scudetto was not at stake I wouldn’t give a damn. The two decisions in the Coppa Italia game (resulting in both Inter goals) were infuriating but if they were isolated incidents I would get over it. This is another decision in a long line of them.. and that’s just against 1 club!

It is the pattern of pro-Inter refereeing that is infuriating me. It needs to end because the more it goes on the more teams will get hurt and the more outrage and complaints about the game there will be. Parma are relegated, Roma lost a scudetto and a few other teams have been left helpless since the end of 2007.

The whole world sees it!! The whole world knows it.. I don’t know how they could admit that calcio is fair..

Mourinho encouraged Chelsea fans to heckle Anders Frisk to the point that the referee received so many death threats that he retired. I have hated Mourinho ever since, and I am Roma and only Roma (not involved in that debacle). I’ve never heard him take responsibility for himself or his team, and Mourinho making the claims he has made is absolutely priceless.

I don’t think anyone is admitting that calcio is fair. It is obviously only the ones with millions to squander who see results go their way, with the occasional game left for the rest to maintain a facade of integrity.

To be honest, we should be thankful to inter for having bought Mancini as a bench warmer/mascotte for 15mil EUR and allowing us to buy the rest of Vucinic, Baptista and (hopefully) Motta.

Guys, being able to get little advantages is key at the highest level of competition. Could Mexes really stick with a player like Lavezzi or RVP if he didn’t have a fistful of shirt? Hell no, but that kind of thing is commonplace at the top level. Notice how the walls inch up every second the ref isn’t looking, and how the the ball is rarely in the semi circle on corner kicks. Little advantages that make ticky tacky differences.

In the academy at Sparta Praha, there was a saying, “You have to be as good at getting little advantages (not literally cheating, but my understanding) as you are at the fundamentals.

Lazio won and they played very, very well. I am a little bit nervous about the derby. Their attack is better than ours.
