In Bocca Al Lupo !

By: Marco Stucazzo | February 5th, 2008

* Azzurrini update right here !

Hi guys, I’m Marco form The Livorno page a.k.a. Marco420, some of you might remember me from comments such as: ”Forza Roma !” and ”Cicinho is a Star, Spal needs to learn how to substitute !” and the donation of pictures such as these
(sounds better if you say it out loud with a voice à la Troy Mcclure)

I’ll be helping Chris out to bring you up to date with as many juicy roman tidbits as the Internet permits. Please don’t expect my posts to be remotely as smart or entertaining as Chris’s can be. All I’m saying is that I posses about as much English vocabulary as a 6 year old Mexican kid, so please bring your expectations down to a minimum.

However, I’m a huge Tifoso Giallorosso , I pledge to blindly honour the Homegrown Roman Trio and gratuitously piss on David Pizzaro from time to time.

* I’ll try to throw something up as soon as I can. In the mean time, feel free to give out pointers and criticize the hell out of me

I’ll try to concoct some sort of Azzurri preview later

And yes, I am completely avoiding the Siena game subject

Forza Ragazzi !

    Welcome to the blog Marco, looking forward to reading stuff from you. I’m sure you’ll pull it off very well. Good luck!

    On the other hand, let’s keep hoping that Chris makes it back soon ;-) .

    Welcome Marco! And is it alright that I am now forever going to picture you actually as a 6 year old Mexican kid, furiously typing away to keep us up-to-date on all things Roma?

    Here’s a question. Since Pizarro is spotty at best and Simone can’t find the back of the net for his life, why can’t we start DDR and Perrota at DM and Aquilani as the trequarterista.
    Correct me if I’m wrong, but hasn’t Simone played a a fair bit of DM with the Azzurri?

    soumi, i agree, push aqui up and pull simone back. to me, you get the best out of both players that way.

    Thanks Gabriel. I feel like Simone can play defense and Pizarro can’t. With a lineup that looks like this:

    Doni/Curci;
    Panucci/Cicinho, Mexes, Juan, Tonetto;
    Simone, DDR;
    Taddei, Aqui, Mancini;
    Totti/Vuci

    I think our defense gets a lot better and DDR can FINALLY get involved on the offensive end instead of always having to cover for for Pizzaro. I feel like last season at least once/game DDR would send a rocket shot from 20-30 yards out that gave opposing portieri heart attacks. This season, we don’t see it.
    After the showing in Siena this past weekend. I feel like now we’ve got to shake things up.

    Soumi and Gabriel:

    Simone Perrotta played that position with Zanetti at Euro2004.
    as he gets older, Perrotta should naturally move back to that spot, like Panucci will be moving to CB…

    Welcome, Marco, if welcome is quite the right word since I suspect you’re an older hand about here than any of us. I say take the opportunity to make your mark, though. Be your own man. Draw a line in the sand. Lay down a marker. And give the Pizza just a smidgeon of a smidgeon of the credit he deserves.

    Welcome Marco
    and thanks for a good start also with the Azzurri game preview. We will all miss Chris while he’s away (he’s like a good friend, sometimes better) but you are very welcome here.

    Since you have decided not to cover the Siena subject I hope you don’t mind me sharing this (from my point of view) very interesting analysis made by Giuseppe Manfridi for Il Romanista. Apologies to the ones who can not read italian.

    Well, Marco, let me give you some suggestions – you don’t need to use them all at once, but you can weave them in here and there to create a kind of sympathetic effect. You might try “For an extraordinarily short guy, the Pizza is really quite tall.” Or, say, “Defensively the Pizza clearly contributes at least as much as Cassano ever did.” Or you could run with “Who needs calzone when you’ve got the Pizza?” Just a few suggestions, anyway.
