Homa Away From Roma Pt. II

Inter v Roma

Best news you’ll hear up until the game: they aren’t supposed to win.

Which really makes it fun, eh? Inter are in good form; Roma are not. Inter have a fully fit squad; Roma do not. Inter are at home; Roma are only sorta at home. Classic nothing to lose game.

Good personnel news: RomaNews is trumpeting the midfield of Brighi, Pizarro, Perrotta and DDR in rhombus form. At its heights, the finest midfield Roma can offer.

More good news: for the very first time ever, I checked the referee before checking the squad list…just to see if it’ll be Roberto Rossetti. It won’t. Another piece lessening the tilt a bit.

The almost bad news, not quite good news: no Doni no party. Are we at the point where Julio Sergio is a wash with Alex, if not preferred? Can’t speak for the fandom, but I’m damn close. Doni may be part feline, but Julio has a full set of chromosomes. Push.

(Gun to the head, however, and I’m tapping Doni on the shoulder.)

The bad news: no Totti, but you knew that already, lessening the sting.

The real bad news: they’re not in good form. At all. Bologna wasn’t convincing; Fulham, though they did precisely what they should’ve against ten men, was still against ten men. And they’re still just two weeks off a loss to Livorno at home. Hopefully this is enough of a bullseye to pull everything together, but a great deal of things must be put in the right places in order to be tightly bound.

The really bad news: no Juan, no Burdisso. Not entirely sure whether Burdisso would’ve played if fit – the gentleman’s agreement with playing against the contractual club and whatnot – but it’s still a loss, as you can be damn sure that backline would’ve read Burdisso, Mexes, Juan, Riise if all were fit. (At some point it will read a sexy Andreolli-Mexes-Juan-Burdisso this year, I guarantee it.)

Some less than ideals coming at the wrong time against the wrong team in what may or may not be the right place anymore. So all they must do is play like they have nothing to lose. Because they don’t.

Squad:

Andreolli
Artur
Baptista
Bertagnoli
Brighi
Cassetti
Cerci
Cicinho
De Rossi
Faty
Guberti
Lobont
Menez
Mexes
Motta
Okaka
Perrotta
Pizarro
Riise
Tonetto
Vucinic

XI

Julio Sergio
Motta, Mexes, Andreolli, Riise
Brighi, De Rossi, Pizarro
Perrotta
Menez, Vucinic.

RomaNews likes Ranieri to outfit that rightflank with Motta; I nominate Cassetti until Ranieri gives us a reason to think otherwise. The rest are largely personnel by default in a 4-3-1-2 situation.

Simone Sini should be considered for a call up from the Primavera if he hasn’t already. He could be utilized in Coppa matches in the late stages. I don’t know if anyone saw yesterdays game, or previous games in the Under 17’s, but he really impressed in the tournament; Sini has the mold to be a classy defender that likes to get forward, I believe he captained the Under 17 side, and his natural position is on the left.

Just read MAD’s review of the game. Makes me sick to the pit of my stomach – being glad that Viera fractured De Rossi’s cheek – what sort of human being is he that such antics please him?

Yes James I know Sini very well, he has a great deal of class and ability, though he’s nowhere near ready for the 1st team. That’s bordering on ludicrous.

He will need to go the D’Alessandro route next season, then return. By aged 20 he will be our sinistra starter, full time, however. A big time talent.

rahul, you are making quite a leap of faith to assume he is actually part of the human race. he’s more along the lines of fecal extract of a human being so therein lies the possible confusion.

OR…Sini is signed by Machester United. I wonder how many if any of our rising stars don’t get gobbled up by the BPsmelL

MAD has very little class. He basically tried to piss all over me and ban me after I said that Bari couldve and maybe should have beaten precious Inter on opening day.

Ouch, lamagica. Though judging by what he has been posting I would agree with you on him not being human. :P

And Robbie, fret not. If we keep selling our senior squad players and not buy adequate replacements then our youth team guys will get a serious look in and they won’t be tempted to leave.

Check out the Inter blog. It’s kinda hilarious.

As i said, MAD is a crybaby and all he does is use ” ” and go on with his gibberish.

You don’t believe me ??? Just go there and tell MAD you don’t agree with him and I bet you that he is going to write an essay and cry you a fucking river with his justifications and becareful with your words of Johanna might just ban your sorry ass for being classless while her co-writer shows no class at all.

    You were warned.

I am amazed that Mexes didn’t make the team of the week. He played really well, especially when he almost got Balotelli to go “ape shit” on him. (my God I didn’t even think and just typed, I didn’t think I was racist…)

Dhaw. I dont ban people for being “classless.”

I delete comments that are personal insults. The only “bannable” offenses are 1) continuing to personally insult people when I have asked someone not to; or 2) impersonating someone else.

Since I have taken over writing the blog, I have banned only one person and they totally deserved it.

I am sorry you dont like what MAD wrote, but please do not put words into my mouth (or fingers, as the case may be).

Everyone is welcome on the Inter board and may express whatever they like, all I ask is that people stick to insulting the idea, not the person. I think that leaves plenty of leeway for people to get their point across without the whole board devolving into a boring version of “you’re stupid” “no, you’re stupid.”

ehhh perhaps Alto’ you’re probably right in that Simone is certainly not ready for 1st Team Serie A football, that is the overriding mentality of Italian football after all; the flip side is Sini gets signed by an EPL side (as Robbie suggested), who recognize the fundamentals in the kids game & are willing to roll the dice on the youngster. Sounds familiar bc it is all too familiar as many of Italy’s primavera that are getting snatched up by EPL sides w. the promise of big money and playing time.

Aren’t personal insults a form of being “classless” ?

Thrash talking happens everywhere and it baffles me that ppl bitch about Roma offside where as there are tarts in your very page who get way with it just because they wink next to their insults or use quotations and try hard to be funny.

Oh well , you cannot please everyone.

James, sign on about your fears about the EPL monsters. Yes sir. They are already — United — drinking blood for Empoli’s young fullback, his name escapes me.

Here is Simo Sini’s facebook page. Ufficiale.

Good read about my fav sports hero. Totti is second to Yzermen in my book. He was at the same club for 22 years and was capt for 20.

I was 100% pro Sensi till Aquilani got sold. Even after that happened I gave it some time and thought about it. Prior to the season starting and Spalletti leaving, I had already made up my mind that a change of ownership was needed. Watching the money from made from selling Aquilani disappear forced me to realize that it was going to take a long time for things to get better.

If we’re talking NHL, Jerome Iginla of the Calgary Flames is my guy. He is second to Totti though.
