Franco Sensi: 1926-2008

By: chris | August 18th, 2008

I sat here for seemingly hours trying to figure out what I should say. Managed to put something quite sizable down, but ended up deleting it because nothing was coming out right. Then I realized why: in times like these, less is more.

Grazie, Franco. Everyone should be so lucky. So lucky as to watch a great man give all to his love, having our love grow in turn. And now, here on earth, your legacy will live on for eternity.

Addio.

Chris, you ‘done good’. What can we say?

I have a couple of colleagues (who don’t follow calcio) passing through Roma this week. They have no idea of the magnitude of this … this is a big loss to the calcio world, and especially to Roma’s world.

I agree with Lupa. Chris, you are one of the best contributor to theoffside. Keep up the good work.

Every time i get on the PC, the Roma blog is always the first site i visit thanks to your contribution and thanks to all of the Roma fans.

I thought i was the only one in the U.S that supported Roma (i was dead wrong)and i consider all of you as my friends.

    Same here.
I’m one of the few football fans (it seems like) in this state of North Carolina, and it always seemed like I was the only Roma fan in the US. but after finding this site I have been enlightened by the fact that there are so many more out there who have love for the giallorossi in their hearts.

Ive only been a Roma fan for about three years or so (recent soccer convert in fact) but he seems to have been synonymous with the team and its recent successes, I dont really know a whole lot about him, but so often in sports when a beloved chairman/owner passes away it unifies the team to greater success, so hopefully they can make something positive out of this.

there is not much i know about il signore, but from everything i have seen, he was all passion, all heart, and all Romano. Let us hope the future can bring what he has already brought in days past.

    Grazie Franco Sensi.

I understand Mr. Sensi was less involved with the club in the last few years as Rosella was taking the helm. What are if any implications that might be felt by Mr. Sensi’s passing? It seems like Rosella may be more willing to sell the club or she may feel an obligation to hold the club to carry on her fathers legacy. Im very happy the Sensi family didnt sell Roma to Sorros, keep the club in Romanista hands. RIP Presidente
