Er Pupone Wins The Boot!
By: Chris | June 17th, 2007For those who missed it, Ruud van Nistelrooy was substituted at half time in Madrid without scoring, which handed Francesco Totti the European Golden Boot.
I’m too drained to write anything else after doing a running diary of the Azzurrini game and watching Real take the La Liga title simultaneously. I’ll come back with something later. For now, enjoy this video of Totti’s goals from this season. Excuse me, for now, enjoy the video of the European Golden Boot Winner’s goals for the season:

Totti has been playing his best football since his first kid was born. It’s no coincidence that he’s won this award just after becoming daddy for the second time. I hope he and his wife go at it like rabits over the summer.
Seriously, he has matured a great deal. I think he still has 2 or 3 years of top level football and would love to see him back with the Azzurri.

I’m not a Totti fan (I actually like Ruud sometimes), but Totti is the more talented player and so deserves his award.

Great for Totti and for Roma. Also according to the Guardian today, Roma have (along with Juvemerda) expressed interest in Craig Bellamy. Benitez is apparently keen on looking at the Roma option because he thinks that he could manage a sort of player exchange involving Mancini… Don’t know what to really make of it.

Yeah, we’re trying to forget that. I’m assuming it has gotten to the point where it’s a mental thing now whenever he steps up to the spot. Hopefully it corrects itself over the summer, because I don’t see him handing over those duties anytime soon.
Saw that Bellamy thing….bunch of English media fantasy. Not happening.
As for The Man himself, I really think the transformation to a striker has revitalized him. While he drops back more than a normal no 9, he isn’t in charge of attacking from deep and gives his legs/ankle a little rest. And he needed it after rehabbing so hard to get to Germany and then having so little time to recuperate for the season. I think he has 3 years of competing for the top prizes in Europe, and he’ll retire around 35-36.

All hail the gladiator. What a wonderful season for him and Roma. Congrats also to Real, who showed some incredible moxie in winning the Liga title. Love him or hate him, there is no doubting that Capello is the best.
Bellamy can come as long as he leaves his golf clubs in England.

Congrats to Totti, although RVN was unlucky not to get a shot at it. I am very happy about Real wining the title. My phone buzzed with excitement around 3:50 yesterday as i was alerted to Real wining the title while i was driving home from boston with my girlfriend. almost got in an accident because i was screaming and took my hands off the wheel, needless to say i got yelled at…
