Rejoice.

And all on top of this.

What a day.

I didn't realize that we are tied for the second best offence in the league! If we score tonight that means we are the second best overall

  • Ej_gutbarr

at what time is the game!? any streams!?

  • masonio

1 hour and 25 minutes from now. Or go to our website and it has a timer. Watch until it is near 0 then streams should be readily available.

  • Ej_gutbarr

thats weird :S I have 0 time since like 1 hour ago

I'd swear Siena is next Monday, NOT Saturday as the article implies. Could anyone confirm?

  • masonio

I can confirm that you are correct. When in doubt, never trust the English that run FI. Especially Susy.

  • Ej_gutbarr

    STREAM PLEASEEE!!!

  • MagicaRoma

" Quote: “With about two hours of the window left, President Claudio Lotito agreed an €11m deal with Villareal for Nilmar but we couldn't supply bank guarencees in such short notice, otherwise we'd signed him,” Tare continued."

How the **** is that possible? We offered 15mil & then 18mil apparently and Villareal kept on refusing, how can they agree on 11mil with Lazyo then a mere 4 months later?

Happy they didn't get him and tbh: I wouldnt have want him for 15mil+ either, but strange acting from Villareal nonetheless!

  • masonio

In the summer, Villarreal were in the Champions League. Now they are trying to avoid relegation. Their season has gone to crap and Nilmar has something like 2 goals in 9 appearances, both of his goals coming back in September.

Think about Sampdoria last year. How much would Cassano & Pazzini cost before the season started? Later went for peanuts to Milano clubs.

  • Lucian

Apparently Burdisso's examination has found he's healing better than expected. He will be in re-hab for atleast 30 days, then will undergo further tests to evaluate the next fase of physio. We won't see him in a while, but he's on the mend.

    GOAT FUCKKKKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERR!

  • That guy looks very..........German?

I think that it is nice when laziales wet themselves. Before Derby we will be ahead of them, and give them good old-fashioned beating on March 4th.

  • masonio

    Albanian, if it matters.

  • It doesnt because I was referring to 70 year old prototype of certain nature.

  • masonio

He's just jealous nobody gives fuck about his club.

  • DCGweez

    Cote the most likely difference.

It will be an attacking line up to be sure

  • Jonas

I think there are few doubts about the starting 11 for tonight, it's pretty clear:

    Stek
    Rosi Juan Heinze Taddei
    Simplicio Gago Pjanic
    Lamela Borini Bojan

Gago and Borini came on for DDR and Totti during the first 65min, we have one sub left while Catania still has all 3

  • masonio

But Kjaer was in the actual match before and is out due to flu. So is 3rd sub used on him for Heinze? Or are we allowed to replace him without using the last sub?

  • Jonas

I think we can replace him without it being counted as a sub

I'm not dead certain though cauz seeing this rule, it could be that clubs take advantage from it and report players 'injured' altough they are not but only in a bad form and do not want to risk it

for example Kjaer: it's true that he's injured so no problems here but just imagine: Juan/Heinze are both currently better in form than Kjaer and are a solid partnership, so LE/Roma could have send a false message saying Kjaer is injured and one of Juan/Heinze can take his place giving us more defensive certainties than when Kjaer would have played (and probably brainfarted again), without having to sub him during the game

  • masonio

Yeah, I'm just curious how it works. Kjaer is obviously not playing so I am wondering if we will use our sub on him or still have one available. It shouldn't matter too much, hopefully, since we only need to make a sub in 25min if it's an emergency.

  • Hondo

You only have to take DDR out of our midfield and it looks out of sorts..

  • OlandeseRomano

Desperately. Need. Something. To. Read. Before. The. Game...
Chris, pensaci tu! I need my dosis of offside blog before the Catania game :)

  • davidk8

Among the less pleasant news, Greco is getting a contract extension with a hefty pay rise
    http://www.football-italia.net...

  • Hondo

His last salary was pretty low.. I don't mind extending his contract as long as he's out of the sterting lineup, come next season. But I really hope that the next gen will push Crego out of the picture pretty soon.

  • davidk8

Damn, so little time to get properly drunk.

  • Jacob

For Aus fans, I checked ESPN and they have the game starting at 6:45pm EST

  • ramm23

Livescore app on iPhone is really handy. It shows you game time in your local time. I highly recommend it.

  • ramm23

It's starting at 8am here in NZ, don't know if that helps.

  • Michael

    Thanks

  • Michael

Anybody know what time the game starts tomorrow US eastern time?

  • Kilo15

According to Roma's new website and its countdown clock, 2 pm.

  • iosanguinaregiallerosso

What about for us Australian fans...

  • Giallorossi13

Fucking 6am for us Australian Romanista's

  • Kilo15

Not sure what the difference in time zones is, but if you go to the main Roma site, they have a countdown timer, so just see how many hours are left and add that to whatever time it is in your zone and boom.  Thats your kick off time.

(FYI it is 13 hours 20 minutes from the time of this post.)

  • masonio

Our Primavera side won its first match in the Viareggio Cup 2-1 against Club Nacional (Paraguay). Amato converted a penalty after some random Paraguayan got sent off with second yellow on handball and Leonardi got the winner in injury time. Goal created by Ferrante.

Pigliacelli; Sabelli, Orchi, Barba, Nego; Ricci M. (46' st. Ferrante), Verre; Politano, Ciciretti (39' st. Ceccarelli), Frediani (21' st. Lopez); Leonardi.

A disposizione: Proietti Gaffi; Carboni, Cittadino,  Ricci F., Romagnoli, Rosato, Tallo.

  • Arfaestnes

    Forza Leonardi!

  • ForzaTotti

Is this like the Champions League for Primavera teams?

  • masonio

No, that would be the "NextGen Series". But only Inter from Italy are there. The plan with that competition is to expand to 24 clubs next year, so that would be one to look out for.

  • ForzaTotti

Cool beans. Roma would rip that competition.

  • masonio

Let's hope we get "invited/selected". Not sure how Inter got there, because by points, across all 3 divisions (42 clubs) they would have been 8th.

  • Arfaestnes

    Not really, no.

  • DCGweez

    Rules for tomorrow:

On Wednesday Catania and Roma come back together to play the remaining 25 minutes of their game, but there are special rules involved.

The Serie A match was suspended due to a waterlogged pitch after 65 minutes on January 14 with the score at 1-1.

Under Serie A regulations, the tie will resume from where it left off at 19.00 UK time on Wednesday.

Only players who were signed to the clubs at the time of the original game can take part in this ‘mini’ encounter.

Therefore, Catania cannot field Marco Motta, Felipe Ignacio Seymour, Osariemen Giulio Ebagua or Juan Pablo Carrizo, while Marco Biagianti and Giovanni Marchese were suspended for the original match.

Meanwhile, Roma substituted Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi during the original match, so they cannot come back into the game tomorrow.

By that same token, the Giallorossi only have one more substitution left, whereas Catania have all three.

The players booked on January 14 will continue to carry the yellow cards, so another booking in the 25-minute encounter would see them sent off. Those players are Gonzalo Bergessio, Alessandro Potenza and Fabio Simplicio.

The game will resume from a throw-in for Catania at the 64th minute, which is where the original was suspended.

  • Rinaldo2882

Do the same 22 players take field, or can the teams play different players (except the above mentioned ineligible players)? For instance, can players on a yellow card, or injured players, be replaced by someone else without a "substitution" being counted?

  • Jonas

only injured players (for example if Juan would get injured, he can be replaced by someone else called up cauz Juan initialy started the Catania game, without it being counted as a sub), or it had to be changed by the FIGC not so long ago...

  • Benattore

For a while there I was worried about Motta, now we may have chance ;)

  • Tony Page

What would happen if there was a player that couldn't start due to injury?  Don't know if thats the case with either team, but just wondering.

  • Jonas

I think he can be replaced from the start and it doesn't count as a sub, only that the player brought in is eligible (so no marquinho or DDR/Totti who were already subbed out in the first 65min)

  • DCGweez

Here is people who cant play:

Subbed players. Totti and De Rossi.

    Players transferred in. Marquinho.

    So everyone else is eligible.

There are no other restrictions as far as our players Re concerned.

  • ForzaTotti

Damn, no Totti and De Rossi. I hope we can squeak away with a victory. We'll need some more Borini magic.

  • guest

    is catania today or tomorrow?

  • masonio

    Tomorrow.

  • brikkz
  • Jonas

why did we even bought Marquinho? LE can play on the wing too and I bet he has a better left foot  lol

  • FrankieASR

Catania-Roma: out Kjaer, De Rossi and Totti, in Piscitella!

    http://www.vocegiallorossa.it/...

Something I didn't notice watching the game, and very nice to hear was la Cuva Sud singing to Piscitella. They asked him about it  in the poost-game and he said he it was unexpected and very emotional

  • ASR

For those of you who understand Roman/Italian...

  • Gianluca2322

Does anybody know how often, if ever, they restock the official online store? Looking to get an item or two, but there isn't much variety in sizes.

  • masonio

I'm not sure, I ordered a bunch of stuff around when it opened up, though.

  • Gianluca2322

Hmm... I guess I'll just continue to check back every now and than, thanks.

  • MagicaRoma

    http://www.football-italia.net...

Hmmm, bit of bad news among all the unicorns from the last days. Hope he is back for pre-season training.....

  • Tottinio

From the official site, Enrique on Burdisso: "Burdisso has been training every day in the gym and he's doing very well. I see him a lot and I think his leg has improved. I'm pleased to have him here at Trigoria all the time because he's a player who can help the team at any time, even if he can't play. I have no idea where this rumour of need for a further operation has come from"

  • so has anyone got an info about Roma-Inter full match download?

  • masonio

Posted earlier but it's a ways down.

    Match video:

    2nd Half:
    http://www.fileswap.com/dl/KC5...

It is in FLV format, ripped off of ESPN3. So it's high quality but you might have to convert the file to a different format or use VLC player to play it.

  • iosanguinaregiallerosso

Will the 25 mins or so we have left to play against Catania start from when the ref finally realised the pitch was unplayable or will he just have a kick off then stop when the rest of the minutes are played?

Next 3 and a quarter games are winnable, better yet next 3 and a quarters games are hopefully(fingers crossed) wins for La Magica.
    Parma, Lazyo, Genoa.

  • masonio

I've read like 27min will be played. Maybe we'll get + injury time to make up for that crap, or it could go the other way and he gives us 0 since it's only a short match.

  • romaromaroma

I just watched the Milan-Napoli replay (really fucking boring, painful to watch). I just realized now that Mexes is an asshole. Haha, funny how you look at things when someone like him plays for your team.

  • masonio

That's adorable lol. I always knew he was an asshole but I loved it. He's an asshole to everyone else but loves our club and its players. Anway dats all I'm gun say bout dat.

  • romaromaroma

Yeah I guess I knew he was a jerk, but he was OUR jerk!

  • masonio

    Damn straight.

  • iosanguinaregiallerosso

But did you like Ibra's slap?

  • romaromaroma

It was a pretty weak slap haha. I expected more from a kung-fu master .

  • masonio

    http://www.paolo65.com/imagesx...

More creative and subtle than power in this one.

  • Madra_Rua

Haha, love Aronica's flinch-reaction, slapping Nocerino. Ibra's human shield worked wonders.

  • iosanguinaregiallerosso

He had to hide behind Noccerino or how ever you spell the guys name. Weak enough to get a 2 game ban perhaps?

  • masonio

They gave him 3, but they are trying to reduce it to 2 so he can play v Juve. And that match will probably be a draw, too.

  • iosanguinaregiallerosso

All the footballing gods have rewarded us Roma fans with De Rossi signing a new contract.

I just can not wait to see him score a a goal infront of the curva sud and watch the emotions take over him !

    Daje Roma!

    Forza Daniele!

    Forza L.E !

    Grazie Capitano !

  • Loazzi

DDR's next game is at home against Parma.  I think it would be an incredible and symbolic gesture if right before the opening whistle, Totti walked over to DDR and handed him the armband.  How many tifosi (both at the Olimpico and wathong on TV) do you think that would bring to tears?  I know it would, me.

  • kurdt

You mean like Totti's not starting and help passing the armband to DDR?

  • bambas

why should he? and I don't think De Rossi wants that either.
As great as De Rossi is playing right now, he is no Totti.

  • masonio

For me that can wait until Totti decides to retire. Or maybe if Totti gets subbed off or something.

  • iosanguinaregiallerosso

Or maybe the next time we play the goat fuckers?

  • masonio

Or Totti is our captain. End of discussion for me. Dani will have his day when Totti is done with His. IMO, anyway.

  • Benattore

Some might say that Daniele is going to be captain for just a short time, but really there have been season in which he's been captain more times than Francesco

  • Kilo15

I'm not going to lie guys.  When I awoke this morning and saw the details of the contract, I squealed like a little girl.

  • davidk8

A rather good observation in the comments section in an article regarding Fabio Borini on Goal.com (don't stop reading):

"at age 18 he scored 14 goals in 8 reserve games including five in one yet chelsea sold him and spent a combined 63-68 million on lukaku and torres who've scored 5 in 54. shocked."

Fabio scored 5 in 11 in Serie A for us. A good lesson for all the clubs around the world that sometimes it is a good thing to stick to your most talented younglings (unless they are Okaka, of course), they might surprise you some today.

  • Hondo

I remember watching Borini's goals for Swansea las season from 101gg.com and thinking that he really looks like a star in the making.. The fact that he ended up in Roma this season was almost too good to be true.

  • Lilmaffia23

ermes really never fails. what a game boys! http://www.webgiallorosso.it/m...

  • Tony Page

My Monday just got a 1000% better after watching that.  Ermes is great!  Thanks!

  • Robbie_ASR

I hope you all agree with my take on Daniele's yellow. If you recall, in the second half he put a cleat to Lucio's knee. He took the yellow while running back and gave Pjanic a little high five and then seemingly pointed back to organize the D (but in my mind he was pointing back to MAAAAAAAAARTEN. I think he meant to do more damage as a little return favor for Stekelenburg's head trauma.

  • Benattore

Yeah, he really did. He wasn't even watching the ball so he couldn't organize the defense. Good, at least someone took care of one of my problems

  • lucian

So, is Moto Borini actually vying for "Buy Of The Season"?

  • Samdelasr

All i know is that i aint missing Oswaldo right now!

  • Hondo

Everything is unfortunately not all sunshine and rainbows:
    http://football-italia.net/nod...

  • lucian

Terrible news. I have read Roma's looking to buy Pedro Geromel from Köln (8m€, Brazilian, Class of '85), not sure if to fill for Burdisso or to replace Kjaer.

  • Jacob

Tallo, Piscitella, and Viviani called up for Catania game. All out attack!!!

  • Arfaestnes

Where are you getting this from?  I don't even think that's possible.
