Spalletti MUST drop taddie and START vucinic on th eleft and Mancini on the right!
Together on the field, we would be unstoppable on the flanks!

This game is difference between this year and last…Depth and quality at every position.

Needless to say we don’t win this game with Whilhelmson and Chivu out there…

    Great game.

    Awesome.

    Only one criticism.

Aquilani should’ve started, and I think now that Vucinic has earned his starting spot as well. Mancini was crap.

I’m been saying they can but never really believed until today that Roma can catch and pass Inter. If Palermo can get a result tomorrow it’s totally possible

I don’t agree with most people here saying Vucinic should be in the starting 11 or that we should sell Mancini in favor of him. I think Vucinic is really great because he’s played as supersub and secret weapon, just like Solskjaer used to be for ManUSA. I prefer him playing for 20 minutes and always scoring goals rather than 90 minutes for so-so performance - just like he did when he got several chances to play longer in the middle of the season.

Football is simple. Seedorf out, Aquilani Giuly and Vucinic in, the game changes.

either way, we got the result and thats what matters. When Kaka scored, I thought the game was over. How wrong I was. We have matured so much since the new year I feel. It was an amazing game to watch. It was the Beautiful Game at its best I feel.

Major props go to Guily. As he has only been here since the summer, and plays his heart out for the jersey. How many players, especially at his age, can you say that about? Same for Vucinic. You can tell that both of them want to play for the team, and not for the money. Thats one reason I love this club. The players we have do not come here for the money, they come for the shirt. When they leave, unless they are mercenaries like Chivu, they will say how winning one thing with Roma is better than winning many with another team. Batistuta comes to my mind when thinking about that.

Dolita, if he can play like he has been lately, given only 20 minutes or so of match time, there’s no reason to believe he can’t do it consistently for the full 90. True, it’s nice having a great, dynamic offensive player who can come in towards the end of the game and provide a spark for the offense, but for all we know, if Vucinic had started maybe Roma would have played well from the start and a spark wouldn’t even had been needed.

I think a talent like that needs to be harnessed fully. I don’t want to sell Mancini, but Spalletti should experiment with a Mancini-Vucinic formation, or a 2-striker combination, or even putting the Vooch at trequartista and Totti at ST or viceversa. Actually, having Vucigol as trequartista might be preferable, because often, in Roma’s formation, the trequartista is found at the front of the attack more than the striker himself.

And hell, why don’t we let Giuly start once in a while? Guy’s a beast, and he’s been great defensively as well.

One last thought: not to dampen our excitement or anything, but Aquilani is worrying me. He doesn’t seem as attached to Roma as DDR and Totti are. In one interview recently he reportedly said something along the lines of “I need to play more to be sure that the club have faith in me”, which isn’t that bad, but he also said “Juve and Inter? I’m not going to think about them now, maybe later in my career, for now I just want to do well with Roma”. What the hell? Do you want to raise your contract value with Roma and go north as soon as it’s reached its peak? Cause that’s sure as hell what it sounds like.

I’ve yelled enough at our team/coach over at the Milan Offside (never cursed so much in my life). I’m just exhausted right now, really.

Congrats Roma. Gorgeous goals. You earned it. Just don’t mess it up later along the road, okay?

As soon as Giuly came on the field and Seedorf was subbed, I totally called Giuly to score a goal. Clearly, I need to shut up in the future.

I understand what you mean. Yes, but that is because of Perrotta’s amazing ability to lungburst and read gaps and space. Granted, he can’t do much when the ball gets to him but don’t overlook his incredible attributes.

As for Aquilani, he wants to play every week and he should be, so he’s a little bit salty from time to time. France’ used to say he was leaving once a year if we didn’t improve the talent levels and then that passed. Aqui is just ambitious and restless. He will not be leaving anytime.

And yea, Perrotta has a ridiculous number of intangibles, but I think Vucinic would do a good job there as well, if anything as an alternative to Simone.

Look Aquilani wants to go to the Euros and all over bel paese they are talking about begging Donadoni to starting him and De Rossi because they fear Holland et al will do Arsenal to us in midfield. He wants to start for Roma and become a firm member of the nazionale. If Sacchi or Lippi took over tonight from Donadoni he would be. Sacchi I believe calls his wife Aquilani in bed he always creams when speaking over him, in Suppercoppa, after Palermo andata, and after Madrid.

even though i suffered from explosive diarrhea after Bologna managed to lose the derby with Piacenza the day managed to be salvaged by your team. I thought it was over after the Kaka goal but what a response! Vucinic is finally finding form, my god, and Aquilani. The first Madrid tie and this game are clear signs that this team is ready to win. unbelievable.

I agree with you, Vlad. I’m not convinced Aquilani loves Roma as much as Totti and DDR, or even Vucinic (that guy also attracts interest from big teams like Real and ManUSA but committed to Roma).

I don’t believe Aquilani has such unconditional love for Roma. If things dont go to well (like during chaotic Cassano days), I’m pretty sure he’ll leave for bigger clubs.

I missed the match! My internet connection just broke in the middle of 1st half… I hope I can download this later on!

    Great result! FORZA ROMA!!!

KA is going nowhere and has the same tie to Roma as Totti and De Rossi. What he said in the interview was that money doesnt matter really at the moment, he wants to concentrate on playing football. He knows that with playing more and well for Roma money will follow. Re Juve and Inter he said that he is honoured that those clubs thought of him but he is concentrating only on Roma at the moment.

Anyway De Rossi said that he may play abroad later in his career… players have to say these thing, never say never. It is just the diplomatic route they have to go down because football world is changing all the time

We have really showed a lot this season and should be able to build on these great results. I believe we can beat ManUSA.

I love this club and believe in the squad but I think we dropped too many points at the end of games this season to challenge Inter for the Scudetto. We needed to beat them. We have won our last three and will need to win every game until the end of the season. That means we need 13 wins in a row. Even if we do that Inter have to drop at least seven points (more if we drop any). Unless we crush every team until the end of the season and move ahead of them on GD (Inter is +36 and Roma are +25). Inter have been receiving too many calls for that to happen.

This team has been unbelievable and I think we can reach Moscow. I just think getting even with Inter might be nearly impossible. After saying all that, it would be nice to see Inter lose to Palermo and Genoa combined with a win against Lazio.

When we drew Man Utd and are repeating the first and second leg home and away schedule i felt snake bit. Old trafford still haunts me.But i think this years version of ground hog day will be different.

Spalletti has built a beautiful squad.

In that video talking about the goals, they mentioned how Vucinic drew all the defenders to him leaving Giuly all alone.. Vucigol was man of the match.. (no offense to DDR)
