GHD Final The Battle of Rome II: Totti v Mexes

Guess what, the first leg tied 120 votes apiece. Last night it looked like Philou was a winner at 51% but Totti was able to pull even with a couple votes swaying the election. I knew this would be close, but this is quite the competition. Therefore, there will be a third leg with even more freakin pictures on Wednesday. Keepin it all about the pics.

I will preface this by saying I did not expect this to happen. Honestly. Swear to Buddha. Though I will admit who would make the final hadn’t entered my mind, my intentions were nowhere near forcing an all Romanista final. Not that I’m complaining or anything. Since these two will likely be so close, we’re going to have a two legged final. Whoever wins both gets the title. If one wins each, then we go by the away hair rule. No, just kidding. If it ties, we’ll have a third vote next week with more different pictures. We’ll use the same hair lineups from the final 4 today to keep it consistent and because I’m lazy. Then we’ll switch it up for Friday’s lineup, when I won’t be cheating so much. That wouldn’t be fair to Philippe or Francesco. After all, this is way more important than anything else right now. And no words, just pictures. Keeping it simple and to the point. Onto the final……

Djibs beat out a No.1 seed to get here. But beating an ex-Laziale and coming up against the icon of Rome is a big difference. We’ve refrained from posting nude pictures of Cisse here because this blog is PG-13, as stated many many times before. Fuckers.

Mexes:

I’ve tried to make the Final Four more of a greatest hits from the earlier rounds of the debate, because some people were exhausting all their fantastic photos. Mexes is nowhere near this category, along with a certain other Romanista who shall remain nameless. Sort of. His sheer volume of awesome photos is truly a testament to his demi-god status amongst hair stylists across the globe. To say the man is a gift is an understatement.

Class and diversity to the nth degree. Bravo. That last one is just phenomenal.

Gattuso:

Rino’s well has begun to run dry while looking for hair pics on the net, but that doesn’t mean his CV is any less impressive. The first pic is still one of my favorites of all-time, just for it’s over-the-top ridiculousness and total believability combined. If there is ever a sequel to He-Man, there is no one else who should get the part, provided he just dyes it blond. Which might be sacrilegious, but I think everyone would concur he is the right, and the only, choice.

I’m still not sure whether Rino is scarier with or without the beard. For some reason he scares me in that Rangers pic.

GHD: The Final Four Bracket

The quarterfinals are over, much to my pleasure. There was only one “upset” last round, and at this point it isn’t all that much of an upset at all. Nobody seems to be able to stop the follicular steam roller that is Djibril Cisse. Even though the vote was still fairly close, it must be observed that a great percentage of Serio Ramos’ votes were for something other than his hair. And the females can feel free to read into that however they damn well please.

Rino Gattuso also squeaked past a young Spaniard, showing that while David Beckham may be a surpassable obstacle, he is no match for the manly beastness of Ivan the Terrible. In what could probably be considered not much of a surprise at all, both Giallorossi participating absolutely dominated their opponents with a victory margin topping 85%. Because my readers aren’t biased whatsoever. Nope nope nope.

The Roundup:

North Bracket

Mexes v Davids: Philippe has done absolutely nothing to give any doubt that he is the number one overall seed in this tournament. As dominating as it gets.

Torres v Gattuso: I’ll go ahead and say that FT likely has a brighter hair future than Rino, considering his age and already outstanding CV, but he is no match for the overall package that is Gennaro Ivan Gattuso. The ultimate total package when it comes to hair.

South Bracket:

Cisse v Ramos: It was really close, but Cisse pulled it out at the end. Ramos’ hotness, anywhere, was no match for Cisse’s cultured talents. Boys got skillz. (yeah, I meant that z – he’s hood)

West v Totti: tisk tisk tisk

The Final Four:

North Bracket:

No real matchup of the Final Four, Cisse is obviously the low seed, but we all know why he was docked a few spots. But he is going up against Rome’s icon. Gennaro should put up a much better fight than any of Philippe’s recent opposition, but come on, he’s number one overall for a reason. His talent is too great to deny.

One interesting development is the fact that this is two Italians v. two Frenchies, two countries who I think participated in another tournament recently. Let’s just hope Cisse doesn’t try to headbutt Totti when things things aren’t going his way.

Philippe v Rino to be released a little later today.

I really can’t explain the West phenomenon to you, I really can’t. One of the guys I thought could give Totti a run for his money in this tournament, Fab Colo, was ousted in dominating fashion by Nigeria’s future leader of state. I guess it’s time to give him his due, but Coloccini is no Totti. Not even close.

Anybody else notice the bald spot in the first pic? No wonder he always keeps a spot in between antennae.

Totti:

A commanding favorite, but what else would you expect from Rome’s modern day demi-god? The first one has me considering revoking Pavel Nedved’s title of best in-motion hair. Last one clinched it.

How rare is it that someone is actually commended for spitting on another player? If this guy can get Kaka The Prophet to nearly lose his cool, he’s got to be real bad.

The last one has become the iconic photograph of the Great Hair Debate for me. That’s just superb in so many areas, and a big kudos to whoever snapped that pic. The new king of in-motion hair.

Cisse:

Cisse has been killing it so far in the hair debate, taking out No. 1 seed Pavel Nedved last week in a relatively major upset. Without a doubt one of the most flamboyant guys in the contest, if there was a contest for best dressed, I have to admit Cisse would have to go down as a one seed. Same thing for tattoos. Although the one on the front of his throat is questionable at best. The guy has skillz, but whether or not he can matchup with the natural gifts of Sergio Ramos is a whole different matter.

That childhood picture just says so much. Like “what the fuck are you lookin’ at?” In French, of course.

Ramos:

Due to the uproar of the masses at last weeks lack of headband photos for Sergio, it’s all headbands this week. Because I’m a please the people type of guy. Or pushover. Whichever.

That last one makes him NBA eligible. That’s way too thick to be Euro.

FT:

A true passing of the torch moment last week when Fernando overtook Beckham to win the second round matchup. He’s officially entering the pantheon of hair greatness.

Kid’s got versatility, we can give him that much. But notice the older he gets the better the hair gets. Sign of greatness.

Rino:

Rino has walked through the competition thus far, but he has certainly met his match now with FT. One gas to think the high quality facial hair and flowing locks will be matched up against the outside-the-box thinking and creativity of FT.

Finding evidence of Rino in a Perugia kit was the goldmine find so far.

Even I can’t decide on this one.

There really isn’t much more to say at this point, he’s just the embodiment of hair awesomeness.

Apparently he and Chivu decided to go to the local mall to get some headshots done one day.

Davids:

If you missed it, Edgar broke his leg last week during a friendly against Go Ahead Eagles – which is embarrassing and difficult enough in itself. Now he has to go up against No. 1 seed Mexes in the GHD. It just isn’t getting much better for him.

I think that last one might be photoshopped, but I can’t be too sure.

I’ll send out another regular post later today, but I’m waiting on the Chivu developments. In case you missed it, some whispers are starting to circulate that Rosella has met with Moratti and they have agreed to a deal for Chivu – even saying a deal could be announced within hours. Could be hot air, but they did meet in relative secret over the weekend. I think he might be out within the next two days.
