The Great Haird Debate: David James v Luca Toni

By: Chris | June 25th, 2007

8. David James. GK. Portsmouth.

v

9. Luca Toni. ST. Bayern Munich.

James:

There are just so many to choose from. Most of them actually belong very far down this list, but he got major points for continually failing but getting right back up and pressing on. The man has no quit when it comes to bad hairstyling.

If he had gone with just that last one he was the easy favorite for the championship. That’s one of the best side parts the world of sporting has ever seen. Hands down. But that first one took him down quite a few notches. He looks like Sideshow Bob from the Simpsons. Just a poor decision. The braids are somewhere in between. There were certainly some ups and downs over the years (just like his play), but it has been a quality career for David. Bravo.

3672Toni:

Most people would probably think of this as a surprise inclusion, but Luca can hang with the best and worst of em. Typically he has that great free-flowing Italian hair that looks like it’s wet 100% of the time, but has stepped over to the dark side on occasion. Notice how it looks as though it has just been washed in Crisco.

Luca_Toni__Italia_206781cIt’s understated, but it’s great nonetheless…..

25toniLadies and Gentleman, The Luca Toni

Short on the sides and long on top aka Hi, I’m a 12 year old boy. It’s decisions like this that come back to haunt people (like great Italian strikers going to Germany. Why, Luca? Why?).

I’ll be sending out a post on all the dealings for Roma later today. It appears Real are jumping in for Chivu, Bordeaux has lost its collective mind and now wants €15m for Faubert, Roma have pseudo-quasi-officially signed Mauro Esposito, and Inter are dirty bastards because they went behind Roma’s back yet again to negotiate with Cristian…..

although Luca Toni’s hair always seems to have a mind of it’s own, Calamity James gets my vote. That hairstyle with the part looks like he’s going to audition for a part as Superman in the sequel to Superman Returns.

Wow… I normally love Luca Toni and must adhere to the WHY LUCA, WHY??? in regards to his Bayern move. But in this case Luca finally met his match. David James got my vote (maybe he could play striker at Bayern instead, and Luca could go back to playing football with real players)!

You are the first man to put your finger on (through?) something mysteriously upsetting about Luca’s hair. Especially during his celebrations.

    My vote goes there.

Gotta go with Luca here. Though it appears he used to own my style circa ‘94 (those were strange times), he clearly has it figured out now and the mop looks money now.

Here’s to David James for managing to look like a flighty school boy, a hardcore rapper, and a gay Terminator; all in the same lifetime. Bravo!

Alright Chris, the call for us lurkers to finally make our voices heard has been heeded - I vote for Luca. I have a soft spot for the Italian “Crisco hair” look.

I too have a bit of a soft spot for the crisco look, but I’m going with Davey boy for this one. That part is a deal sealer.

I’m going with Luca. I’ve always wished I had more Italian blood so my hair could be outrageously greasy instead of just kind of greasy.

Mike, you of all people should know political correctness is not allowed in this space in any way, shape or form. We here at the AS Roma offside do not condone such straight-laced behavior.

    (There was no previous comment)

I vote for Toni. Why? Because I can.
