Roma is Vucigol’s childhood club??
Well.. Speaking of Romanisti.. Amelia has said again that he is holding out for a move to Roma.. Just make a move for him already, let Curci go out on loan and give Doni some real competition. (Granted that he doesn’t cost much).
As for Inter, I agree with Kamran. We need them to split their focus and I don’t want to hear all this nonsense about English teams dominating. (especially if (God forbid) all 4 make the semis.) Horrible!!
Btw.. that could happen if we play United, Liverpool play Barca, Chelsea play Fenerbahce, and Arsenal play Schalke.. My biggest fear however is that Inter do go through and we play them. Not that we can’t beat them, but it’ll be tough. Better now than later though.

Chris.. any exciting transfer news or contract updates? I haven’t seen anything really exciting lately. All the players we were interested in are being linked to everyone but us, and the contract news sounds good but I’ve become paranoid after the whole Chivu and Cassano gates.

I thought that against Real Madrid I had to rub my eyes enough (because of the marvelous and incredible things happening). Not so. At the San Paolo, if possible, I saw more and better things. Even better than against Lyon a year ago, and at San Siro for the Supercoppa. I saw a team winning beyond the imaginable, and by imaginable I mean everything that in the context if a soccer match pertains exclusively to soccer. Against Napoli several enemies were acting against us. Just to name a few: the blind fury of a hostile and insulting stadium; the total absence of even the smallest red/gold spot on the stands (and at the Bernabeu we had the last of many demonstrations of how much it means to have supporters like ours); the psychophysical toxins accumulated during the Champions’ match; and, last but not least, the frustration of having to play against a -9 deficit reestablished Saturday evening by the touring troupe “FC Ambrosiana Inter”, once a respectable soccer team which, for its centenary, thought it appropriate to convert to acting. An anniversary that couldn’t have been reached and celebrated in a worse way. At least from a sport perspective. If we want to talk about art, well, things are different.
In Milan, as many are aware, is located the Small Theatre of Giorgio Strehler, mythical institution that made the history of Italian culture in the 1900’s. Someone says that, following precise instructions from Moratti (the son), the acting school of this glorious establishment is assiduously frequented by the players in black and blue. Smart idea, which produced brilliant results. Ibra & Co., as a matter of fact, were beginning to display a certain amateurish discomfort while managing the repeated celebrations to which they are forced by goals and penalties that, conventionally, they are being awarded by a script more and more stale and repetitive. Poor guys, the test to which they are subject week in and week out is a very hard one. Any actor knows it: soon after a show’s debut, the adrenaline runs out and it becomes more and more difficult to keep alive the realistic spirit of a play. Someone pushes you down in midfield, and you are awarded a penalty. You know very well it would have happened, so you are not surprised, but you have to feign you are. Or even better, you have to pretend that everything is logical, and that, on the contrary, if it weren’t logical than someone should protest. And that’s something that your opponents, by now, have given up. And therefore you shoot and you score, and you have to keep making it believable, making it look as if your joy actually explodes because of an actual achievement of your athletic performance. And the other teammates have to run and embrace the goal scorer, with a histrionic transport able to support the illusion of reality. The supporters on the stands expect that much. Regardless of whether it’s a stage trick or not. They don’t care about what’s behind the scenes. The public is content with what they see, as long as everything appears absolutely believable. The illusion, as Stendhal would say, is valid only if it’s perfect. And the illusion is not given by the substance of things, but purely by their appearance. Well, we have to admit it: the Inter players are so committed in making us believe they are proud of their first place that, for that alone, they would actually deserve to be first. Just as much as their president (the son) deserves it. Better than Al Pacino.
Very well, but despite this entertaining and farcical reality, then there’s Roma, with its way of playing, its athletes and what they are capable of. There’s truth without fiction. There’s soccer, even when mixed with the world of theatre, which I love but that I wish wouldn’t get involved in this story. But it doesn’t matter. The key is to reach an agreement. I guess we’ll call their “scudetto” Oscar, while our second place will be called “scudetto”. After all, it’s all about semantics and realms. We are competing in a league, they are shooting a blockbuster. Let’s just say it how it is, what’s the big deal?Posted from

Why i’m for Inter tonight: can’t focus strictly on Serie A, 2 italian teams left, not all 4 english teams left, liverpool is scum, souness is a liverpool legend.
Why Liverpool: Chivu out of Champions League, Roma still fighting.

Don’t know why i care but i do. On goal.com’s list of Serie A top scorers it has Ibra at 15 goals with 0 penalties. If i’m not mistaken Ibra has 8 goals from the spot. Most fans and even pundits do a tremendously bad job of research before talking/writing, and not to take anything away from Ibra’s game but his goal scoring records is very weak this year without penalties. Yet when fans from other leagues go to goal.com and look at top Serie A scorers they’ll assume he’s kicking ass and could be at 20 plus if he was Inter’s PK taker.

I was cycling through to hopefully put up a post last night, but nothing was biting. The only “good” news is the Mario Gomez declaration from Stuttgart. I gather the rumors may subside while Roma is still involved in the CL - journos don’t have to make so much stuff up for filler.

Roma in pole for Vargas according to Lo Monaco (DS of Catania) Stuttgart wants around 10million for Gomez. Gonna say this tho, Roma probably already got deals for both of them and that they will be announced end of the season. Maybe it’s wishful thinking. And about Friedrich, the club he plays for denies they received an offer for him from Roma.

Huntelaar will stay at Ajax for another season if V. Basten convinces him. If not he’ll likely go to England (Man Utd one of those that wants him) and their pockets are much deeper then Roma’s.

i love hearing roma in the market. for many bad years we had no money to buy anyone we could only get players on the free. seems being back in the champ league n being competitive in th league is truely helping out romas finances. just a lil nervous on our important contract renewals: ddr (less so), aqualani, mancini, doni, vucinics (half ownership)

Gomez for 10 million.. WOW!! I don’t want to believe it because I don’t want to be heartbroken afterwards.
Yaya Toure is out.. Anyone want to play Barcelona next? No Messi, no Toure (to add to their lack of midfield depth), very poor in attack lately, swiss cheese defense (Milito looking horrible in particular). I fancy our chances now.

The thing is .. Huntelaar would want to play as he’s getting in that point in his career where he needs to prove himself. Sitting pretty behind Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo isn’t going to cut it for him. Unless he’s interested in the money.
